Anyway, Tyler merely imitated how majority of the uncles and aunties in Singapore speak. We have to agree that they do speak that way, don't we? It's not like they are saying all Singaporeans speak that way. Chinese hasn't become more prevalent. See how hard it is for the Ministry of Education to encourage our younger generation Chinese to speak Mandarin? It is just that we have more Chinese in the older generation, that's why it seems like the way we speak is greatly influenced by Chinese.

I'm also a Singaporean and I think Tyler has done a good job imitating us. It's really funny, you peeps shouldn't take it as being offensive. It's a COMEDY. Why isn't there as much noise when Mr Brown imitate our accent and poke fun on the way we speak, but why are there so many people using obscene words to insult this video when it is an "ang moh" who did it? @garick i was refering to non-white Singaporean. there are white Singaporean, and other races. In fact singlish is mostly english + mandarin + melayu. The earliest immigrants could speak both mandarin and malayu (dominant races), sometimes tamil also because they learned from each other through social exchange. The later generations borned after english became official langauge in Singapore started to mash them all up as they slowly learn the language, creating singlish.

So if you speak singlish in singapore, it actually shows that you have assimilated into our culture, accept as part of yourself. rather than singaporeans having to make the effort accomodate you. thus this video is homage.

Oh please. I'm Singaporean and I found it hilarious. Maybe that's just me, but it is true that our accent is really nothing to be proud of. It is a shame to hear proper words distorted by our accent. Nowadays, Chinese seems to become more and more prevalent and it is frustrating.
