  • Hmmm,,Great video, buttttt..... Hannibal committed suicide (AKA poisoned himself) so Scipio didn't kill him. Great video, though.

  • I WONDER , HAS ANYBODY HEARD FROM CARTHAGE LATELY ?

    GIANFRANCO FRONZI SEPTEMBER

  • this is really funny But it has quite alot of false facts. Hannibal was after the punic wars, his father lost in the punic wars hence why he wanted his son to hate the romans.

after this Hannibal father moved to spain under a resign to collect silver to pay back rome for losing the war. Hannibals father died and then after a short time of another general hannible took the place of his father.

when he was in spain he received a visit from the roman consul who told him he could not cross the ebro

  • rome total war soundtrack haha lmao

  • Whahaha! XD LOL!!!

  • Actually, Fabius "Cunctator" (the delayer) was the one that saved Rome from Hannibal. If it wasn't for the delaying tactics of Fabius, Hannibal would have probably have beaten Rome in another decisive batlle (after Cannae) and most of Rome's allies would have sided with Hannibal. Because of Fabius, Hannibal was unable to finish Rome and wandered aimlessly in southern Italy, unable to siege Rome (mistake by Hannibal not have siege equipment). Fabius' tactic was not popular but it was effective...

  • the enemy general is running away! this is no way for a leader to behave, but in battle it is beyond belief!

  • Better than most documentaries, im using this for revision - epic job mate!

  • rome total war music lol i love rome times and byzantine times i like and rome total war and medieval 2 total war lol

  • 2:57 is what sparked the Second Punic War.

As for the rest of the animated video. Yep. That's exactly what happened. Good job ^_^

  • cool

but get the part about fabius and scipio right. fabius saved rome but the romans didnt like his stratagey so they replaced him with paullus which failed

  • Hahahah this is simply brilliant! Lovely!

    +RTW Music rocks

  • Rome finished off the carthaganians in the THIRD Punic war not the second.

    this is freakin' brilliant.

  • Loving the Rome:Total War Music :)

  • dzenny88:

Yeah. I know. Hannibal lost to a much better trained army than a lot of Turbans and Elephants. Carthage really is better isn't it? look up Sun Tzu. Quantity does not make an army.

  • Strangely realistic!

  • carthaginians really fail at life

  • if Carthaginians fail at life then usa would be worse? hmm definate yes.

  • well Hannibal did not want to destroy the world only Rome, he even offered the romans terms for surrender to end the bloodshed but Rome refused and well..you know the rest ;)

  • OMg this is the best thing i have ever seen!!! Best way to study for my history exam EVER

  • the music that starts at 1:00 is from Rome TW as well, think its the music for the Carthaginian Campaign, but ime not sure. It's deffinately Rome TW music though.

  • funny

(But Hannibal did not lose to A MOUSE)

  • wheres the music from?

  • The video game Rome Total War

  • Even the song that starts at 1;00?

  • Hmm,not sure maybe.

  • i have the game and never heard that song before.

  • That was a hilarious reenactment. GJ

  • After hearing the music i now want to play Rome: Total War again.

  • did u use flip boom

  • lol actually I enjoyed it.

  • sequence of events are a bit off

The capture of Sagentum(219BC) was one of the causes of the war. It didn't happen in the war itself(218-202BC).

  • ur timeline of this is terrible. the first war ended in a stale mate from Greece's entrance. hannable didnt plan on going in the Alps he had to after a skirmish with the romans scipio was apounted while hannable was still in spain

  • yea your right he didnt mean to go to the apps but he had to since romans block the other way i know hannibal could have killed have kill them but have little troops to do an invasion, so thats why he went to the apps am i corrected?

  • do i need to say wtf???

  • fak rome nabs ^^

Hannibal was a great general and a great warrior no like rome all gays in 1553135 formations pspsps

  • So great that he lost the war despite winning almost every engagement:P

  • oh my foking god that sucksssssssss

  • loool

  • waw... fantastic and easy to understand!

  • i love the crthaginian tune it reminds me of Iraq

  • @kaldo4life3 really.metoo

  • Funny Video!

  • Music from Rome Total War

  • LOL very entertaining

i just don't really think that the mouse is historically accurate

thank you for making studying fun!

  • hannibal understimate rome and cost him his defeat. after he fought long with the romans, he realise rome is nt just a city, it is a system. hannibal does not have ths support of his senators as what have rome given to its generals. hannibal is a great general and might accomplished greater than genghis khan but he run into bad luck because rome is carthage neighbour. the romans after fought a long war with him, reorganize its army and defeat hannibal. roman powerful legionaire is born.

  • Great video, but just one thing.

    Fabius was a hero.

  • LMAO!

    sheer brilliance.

    love Rome :)

  • THIS IS FUNNY!

Im doing the romans right now, my teacher told me to watch it. I loved the bit that said Dear Hannibal, you may not cross the Ebro River. love, Rome

  • This was cute. Learned a thing or two!!

  • dear hannibal, you may not cross the ebro river

    Love,

    Rome

    hahaha

  • the sounds of rome total war

  • This is one of the most realistic vids on Rome vs Carthage and Hannibal I ever seen. i learned a lot. Amazing stuff. The acting was first class and the cinematography...well....2nd to none. Well done.

  • What the f&%#? Is this South Park II?

  • its stupid but is funny!!!

  • yeah, i know the person who made it. He did it for a school project. I'd say its good but i dont know anything about the punic war.

  • jesus christ... this is such a crap

  • fuck i need less of the inmature shit more facts i got a fuckin asignment due tomoro mate

  • fuck off mate.

    rome didnt SMASH carthage

    hannibal almost defeated rome

and then years later rome realised how close they were to being defeated and went to carthage and then SMASHED them because carthage wasnt recovered from the last war

  • Actually, Hannibal was just in the right place at the right time, and Rome was experiencing a long line of idiotic Consuls. If the formation at Cannae had been spread out and not condensed, Hannibal would have been crushed. And besides, he had a chance to take Rome while he was in Italy, but historians agree that upon seeing the walls of Rome, he crapped his pants and spent the next few months wandering aimlessly around the Italian peninsula, only to be owned by Scipio at Zama.

  • Hannibal didnt take rome because he didnt have the seige equipment, he didnt have the reinforcments he needed, and he didnt have the supplys needed, he didnt "crap his pants at the sight of the walls" and in my openion rome never produced a general as great as hannibal, idiotic consuls or not Hannibal brought the romans to their knees and is one of historys greatest generals.

  • If Rome never had a general as skilled as Hannible explain how Scippio defeated him on his own ground with an inferior force? Also, if you didn't have siege equipment, they could have built some. Perhaps Hannible wasn't as smart as the Romans and didn't have a few engineers tagging along with his army. It's also not becoming of a General to launch a campaign ill-prepared. I respect your opinion however, it would just be nice to see some proof or line of reasoning with it.

  • Mrtaylor maybe you should read your history books before deciding to spew some of your idiotic sense. Scipio "if you actually read about him" copied Hannibals battle techniques. Not only that but he had a force of professional soldiers and hannibal was equiped with mercenaries and quickly trained civial-soldiers.

But you are right about one thing. he underestimated italian allegiance and thus led to his downfall.

  • Why is it someone must always resort to some low form of verbal insults before they make a point? I'll reiterate my previous point. Hannibal didn't expect the unexpected, and guess what happened. Scipio was better prepared, and the smarter of the pair. It was a fault on Hannibal's side to fail to change his tactics, and like I said before, Hannibal's entire campaign was ill-run.

  • if hannibal would have received support from Carthage on time,he might have conquered rome, but the oligarhic regime leaders(they were much like the senators of Rome)of Carthage were too concerned about him getting too popular and rule Carthage...they wanted to keep him down...that is Carthage's problem that led to it's downfall : incompetent selfish leaders.

  • That's the truth of it. That part of history never changes...

  • Scipio copied Hannibal's tactics and won at zama because hannibal's men were a bunch of numidian assholes unable to stay in formation, let alone fight a force of disciplined (as well as pissed) romans!

  • I've made this point before. When we look at what happened in History, we cannot look at "ifs". As I pointed out earlier, "if" the Roman formation at Cannae had been spread instead of condensed, the Second Punic War would be at an early end, with Hannibal never being anything more than an upstart with a short reign and virtually no place at all in any history books. Disregard the ifs, for they have only a small part to play in past events.

  • Great ! ,

we have history lessons and i woudlnt have learnt so much from it as i did from this (about the punic war)

because this keeps my attention .

  • no way... how old are u people

  • punic war between amazigh people and romans

  • Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the history channel. That actually kept me attention. It was violent, funny, and didn't contain any unimportant facts. A+ work here.

  • NICE

  • necessa est baculum arripit et princeps nacare

  • ahah :P Release the secret WEAPON!!! and then you see a silly mouse :P

  • funny ;-)

  • haha dang i feel sry for hanibal XD i think he should have won but o well cant change history

  • music is from a game rome total war i like it

  • lol, I liked it! :)

  • da was crap an a

    pathetic waste

  • wasted 6:59 of my life making fun of romans who were the best eva

  • That sucked.

  • hahaha very very good!

  • Great!! hahaha

  • I try to look up a video on the punic wars and this is what I get? You should fuck off.

  • no not at all i sow it on the history chanel that the romans where killing there own horses to scare away the elephants thats why the romans won elepants hate the smell of horse blood.

  • next time be sure to make the skin tone with more melanin(hint:he was black)your beer knows....look up Budweisers black kings series..of course that part of history has been whitewashed..he came from africa out numbered and kicked ass!

  • hannibal was carthagian. carthage was a phoenician city of phoenician ancestry who originated in and around modern lebanon. Hannibal was not black. he was brownish I guess.

  • shet up simpleton..Indians in this country have been totally decimated and replaced in a matter of a few hundred years..with that city being the target of annihilation by rome to avenge Hannibal's conquest it is not hard to fathom the rape, pillaging, enslavement, displacement etc, inflicted upon them that would cause the face & history of the people to forever be changed....duh...

  • There isn't a chance in Hell that Hannibal was black. We have contemporary portraits of him from coins of very good quality, from his childhood and as an adult. He was beyond any doubt a white man. The phoenecians came from Lebanon and settled in North Africa, in a hostile environment of (white) berber tribes. Being of royal descent, his ancestors would have been the local elite of phoenecian aristocrats.

  • fool/those coins were created 100's of years after the fact/just like those frescoes tht u think depict Jesus & his life/definitely a campaign 2 slander the image of the man "Hannibal"/of course he ws black/u fool/stop watching those fake azz reenactments on discovery channel/they r the same ones who gt all egyptians running around needing a tan & got jesus wit blond hair & blue eyes/lies /hair like wool, skin like copper, voice of many waters sounds black 2 me/well dont it/of course they r biased

  • And you're not biased? Give me a break. The coins I'm referring to are from his own time. Greeks and Romans never referred to the Carthaginians as black. You black peopel must really feel inferior in order to deem it necessary to steal the history of other peopels and races and claim it as your own in order to prop up your apparently weak self-esteem. It looks desperate to me.

  • steal history...guy u are hilarious...we all know who the greatest history stealers of all time are..jeesh...u are pathetic...continue to remain ignorant..i'm sure u wear it well..i'm very much aware of the facts..and who is actually inferior..ha ha..little pale boy get more than one source of information..continue your quest for true knowledge, not the historical lies your barbaric people have fed u

  • But you ARE stealing history. Do you think people in Lebanon consider themselves black? Or berbers of Algeria? Even Egyptians consider themselves different from the peopel living south of that country. Jewish scholars have concluded that Jews descend from Hittites, an Indoeuropean peopel. I trust them more to know about their own history than some desperate outsiders trying to impose in identity on them based on fantasy.

  • Trust none only facts

  • erm... but 'facts' are always produced by someone... so one have to make a choice, who can present the most convincing case, who's the most credible and so on. And most importantly, try and ignore ones own prejudice and wishes in the process.

  • If you are unable to deduce then I surely do not envy you

  • Of course I'm able to deduce, I just explained what I think is necessary to do in order to understand the past.

  • a black Hannibal? LMFAO!!! dude that's funny.

  • aaahahahhaahaha

  • great! should make more dis kind vids.

  • Ha ha, very good!

  • When Rome was under Fabius Hannibal almost won the war. but Scipio understood Hannibal's tactics and beat him in Zama. When they charged with the elephants the Roman soldiers threw spears at the elephants and the elephants ran back and trampled over their own men.

  • actually they made holes so the elephnats could just keep walking straight, coz elephants don't turn...so the Romans just opened up their formations and let the elephants pass through...smart

  • Really good lol

  • Do you even know what Hannibal's famous tactics were? Perhaps you should have depicted them in action

  • Awesome, now i totally understand this war now.

  • haha

  • fucking hilarious!

  • In fact he beated the romans many times and there was some draws too later , he stayed in italy for 13 year , ravaging it without much supply because many ppl werent happy with rome especially the gaul tribes of northern italy , nice video thou

  • o wtf man

  • A bit lacking in details but...

    THAT IS FREAKING HARLARIOUS

Sovietcox, Rome didn't win the war? Are you sure you remembered the right war?

  • lol funny and eduactional!!

  • music from rome total war right?

  • this is kindergarden punic war teaching or what lol come on dude...

  • crap

  • Heh, Scipio, I'm sure you love hannibal. He had to cross the alps, the only other option was returning home to carthage and losing his only chance to defeat rome. The reason for his inability to siege rome wasn't manpower anyway. It was lack of engines and his home country's willingness to give him a navy. If carthage had given Hannibal a navy, he would have given them Rome, its as simple as that.

  • 1st, to soviet, yea they did. 2nd i'm glad they some1 actually tells the whole story, i'm so sick of everyone thinking that hannibal beat rome. hannibal may have been a good military tactitian, but an idiot for politics and no true understanding of the power of the elements. he lost more than half his army crossing the alps, thus cealing his fate, since he did not have enough troops to seige a city.

  • Cool...you should mention that history calls the confrontation between Scipio and Hannibal the "Battle of Zama" in 202 C.E.

I don't think the mice thing is really recorded, but it's a good attention grabber!

But why did Scipio decide to meet him in Africa!!! Weather??? terrain??? I'm to lazy to pull out my history books!

  • where can i find the soundtrack from this cool little history cartoon? When they are headed towards spain and also when they're talking about the battle's at italy? Background music was cool definatly need to get it.

  • the stupid roman senate, man I hate them. they always give me impossible missions in rome: total war!
