Scary to hear you say that. This is one of the most confusing presentations I have ever heard. It started out good, than he started mixing discipleship/walking with the Lord with being saved. Salvation is a one time free gift received by faith. You contribute nothing, he contributed everything. Than he gets into Christ dying for you and saving you from sinning, and living for him, as if that is salvation. That is after salvation, they are two totally 100% opposite things. Very confusing

God does love us. If we struggle with being gay, or voted for McCain or Obama, or got drunk God still loves us. God doesn't want us to be hurt by sin. Sin hurts us. Is there a possibility that you are misunderstanding this verse? I understood this verse to mean when we receive glorified bodies after the resurrection.
I have also wondered about that verse that you are talking about where Jesus said that some would not taste of death until he returned. I don't know the answer to that one. I don't believe Jesus lied, I think I don't understand it.
I have also thought about the "They will know you are Christians by your love," thing too.
I think that maybe because I see my own fallibility in these matters I try to be more merciful to others' shortcomings. I find myself being unloving and unkind at times and it bothers me. I believe it is conviction from the Holy Spirit which reminds me that I am still a sinner in need of a Savior. I can never be without sin until I am glorified. I thought that the time of pentecost was the only time that these "greater works" were made manifest. God's grace is sufficient for me til then.
I have to admit that I don't understand what God means by this. I am born again, and I surely sin. I think it may mean when I am resurrected and glorified. No sin can enter into Heaven. I am not in Heaven. I have overcome certain sins though. When I am submitted to God and I am seeking him I can't bear to sin, but I do end up in the flesh again and sin. It is impossible for me to stay in the spirit. Besides, I'm married, my flesh gets in there. I want my own way sometimes, I sin.
Isn't this an "as needed" kind of thing. I mean snake handling Baptists are "tempting God," aren't they? When satan told Jesus to throw himself off the temple he said that Jesus could do it because God had angels there to make sure he never dashed his foot against a stone. That was not in line with what God wanted.
I have heard of missionaries who have unknowingly been bitten by deadly snakes in Papua New Guinnea and been surprised to able to use this verse for the salvation of others.
What can I say about that? I just left a church where there was abusiveness from the very pulpit occasionally. Again, church leaders are fallible. So am I. The basis for all human relationships is mutual trust and respect. I could not remain where there was disrespect from the pulpit. I go where there is love and truth (which sometimes hurts) from the pulpit.

blessing the Isrealites from every hilltop around the valley they were camped in. Balaam was a real prophet who was interested in money and prestige. He knew he was doing wrong against God. He ended up blessing the Isrealites every time!
Jesus made the blind to see, and the deaf to hear. There are many accounts of this that are legally usable in a court of law. (the 4 gospels) He raised people from the dead. Do I know how God made a donkey rebuke Balaam? No, I don't. I believe it because God is trustworthy. Balaam had to have been the one to tell us about it, who else was there?
I'm surprised you don't see the validity in the testimony of the four different accounts of the gospel. You of all people should know that the Bible is not one book, but 66 books. @ricksparks The bible is a book of prophecy. God said He would tell the End from the Beginning so you would Know He is God-He did. To date, all prophecy is 100% accurate, fulfilled and exact. God says the generation that see's Israel become a nation again in one day, is the last one before ALL is fulfilled. The alliance between Russia, Iran, Turkey against Israel, the world wide eco. crisis, one world government, nuclear war, and far more is told. At 100% accurate, you stand at 0, with no time.

Scary to hear you say that. This is one of the most confusing presentations I have ever heard. It started out good, than he started mixing discipleship/walking with the Lord with being saved. Salvation is a one time free gift received by faith. You contribute nothing, he contributed everything. Than he gets into Christ dying for you and saving you from sinning, and living for him, as if that is salvation. That is after salvation, they are two totally 100% opposite things. Very confusing

He must be king and Lord of our hearts our lives our wills our all. Lest a seed fall to the ground and die it can not bear fruit. To be able to say as Paul said, "It is NO LONGER I that liveth, but Christ that liveth in me!" The cross is the marks of a true born again believer. the Hebrew word for evil "rah" is used in many different ways in the Bible. In the KJV Bible, it occurs 663 times. 431 times it is translated as "evil." The other 232 times it is translated as "wicked", "bad", "hurt", "harm", "ill", "sorrow", "mischief", "displeased", "adversity", "affliction", "trouble", "calamity", "grievous", "misery", and "trouble." So we can see that the word does not require that it be translated as "evil." This is why different Bibles translate this verse differently

God does love us. If we struggle with being gay, or voted for McCain or Obama, or got drunk God still loves us. God doesn't want us to be hurt by sin. Sin hurts us. There are consequences for our sins. Love demands justice. If it didn't then why not kill as many people as we can and get as much stuff as we can and all live like Hitler? If there is no consequence for evil, then evil will reign.
You know what amazes me? It amazes me all the times God did not kill me when I deserved it!

He was angry that God didn't heal what he wanted healed and he began to curse like the devil and blaspheme against God. I left him before he was institutionalized. He would no longer hear the truth.

Is there a possibility that you are misunderstanding this verse? I understood this verse to mean when we receive glorified bodies after the resurrection.
I have also wondered about that verse that you are talking about where Jesus said that some would not taste of death until he returned. I don't know the answer to that one. I don't believe Jesus lied, I think I don't understand it.

I think that maybe because I see my own fallibility in these matters I try to be more merciful to others' shortcomings. I find myself being unloving and unkind at times and it bothers me. I believe it is conviction from the Holy Spirit which reminds me that I am still a sinner in need of a Savior. I can never be without sin until I am glorified. I thought that the time of pentecost was the only time that these "greater works" were made manifest. God's grace is sufficient for me til then.

but according to the Bible it should have nothing to do with your moral strength or efforts.
The bible says that those who are born of God CAN NOT sin.
But I have never yet met a believer who has experienced this,
so the church hides that away
rather than honestly addressing it

I have to admit that I don't understand what God means by this. I am born again, and I surely sin. I think it may mean when I am resurrected and glorified. No sin can enter into Heaven. I am not in Heaven. I have overcome certain sins though. When I am submitted to God and I am seeking him I can't bear to sin, but I do end up in the flesh again and sin. It is impossible for me to stay in the spirit. Besides, I'm married, my flesh gets in there. I want my own way sometimes, I sin.

Isn't this an "as needed" kind of thing. I mean snake handling Baptists are "tempting God," aren't they? When satan told Jesus to throw himself off the temple he said that Jesus could do it because God had angels there to make sure he never dashed his foot against a stone. That was not in line with what God wanted.
I have heard of missionaries who have unknowingly been bitten by deadly snakes in Papua New Guinnea and been surprised to able to use this verse for the salvation of others.

What can I say about that? I just left a church where there was abusiveness from the very pulpit occasionally. Again, church leaders are fallible. So am I. The basis for all human relationships is mutual trust and respect. I could not remain where there was disrespect from the pulpit. I go where there is love and truth (which sometimes hurts) from the pulpit.

God created evil, he created darkness,
he blinds eyes and closes ears and hardens hearts,
he makes some vessels unto dishonour,
he causes people to believe a lie,
he sends powerful delusion,
he sends lying spirits into the mouths of prophets,
and even Jesus used parables to hide the truth from the multitudes.

God did not create evil, he created beings who do evil things because they are free to chose evil. There is none righteous, no not one.
Something about this comment reminds me of Job's friends. I have to admit, I don't understand everything I read in the Bible, but I do believe God is trustworthy.
People who believe lies, delusions& receive lying spirits are the people who are not interested in the truth. They want their own way, God lets them have it. They begin it God allows it.

No, I haven't forgotten it. I just haven't found the answer to it yet. I really do know that I don't have all the answers. I'm still trying to figure it out.

Again, that's not what the Bible says.
One example (of many) is in 1 Kings 22:21-23,
Ahab wanted the truth but God sent a lying spirit into the mouth of the prophet.

IT's interesting that you site Ahab who was a very evil king &didnt want the truth, but his own way. In 1Kings 16:30 Ahab...did evil in the sight of the Lord above all that were before him, in verse 31 he's actually worshipping the devil (Baal!) Ch 17 the prophet Elijah hides in fear from him, he blesses the socks off of Elijah who obeys him. Ahab the king in Ch 21 kills Naboth to steal his vineyard, etc. You know the Bible, and you must know that Ahab is the epitome of evil and rebelliousnes

It bothers me more that people would rather die and go to hell than to acknowledge a Just and Holy God who delivered them from the eternal condemnation of their sins. In fact at times it really bothers me a lot. It even bothers me about you. I feel bad enough about it to break my heart. I am not joking or being smarmy or facitious. I mean it.

Isn't this like saying, "I was the child of John and Mary Smith. I lived in their house, we had many holidays and birthdays together. Now I am emancipated from that and I no longer believe I ever had parents. True wisdom comes when we realize that we popped into existance without parents. I am now wise and mature because I know what freedom from my belief in parents means.
Just about as ludicrous as saying, "I have known God, and now I don't."

The Bible is filled with things that are not true

I don't think that the Bible is filled with things that are not true, but I know that churches like the people in them and who run them are fallible. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put your confidence in man.

And that the earth is flat.

Humans are made from the same stuff that is found in the earth, carbon, calcium, iron, water, etc. The Bible does not say that snakes and donkeys talk, it talks about one snake one time and one donkey another time. The snake was around before the fall and who knows what the world lost in the fall. Eve did't seem surprised by it. Also, the donkey was God's way to show Baalam that he was dumber than a donkey to keep trying to curse the Isrealites when God had told him No. He also ended up...

Jesus made the blind to see, and the deaf to hear. There are many accounts of this that are legally usable in a court of law. (the 4 gospels) He raised people from the dead. Do I know how God made a donkey rebuke Balaam? No, I don't. I believe it because God is trustworthy. Balaam had to have been the one to tell us about it, who else was there?

And the Bible says that insects have 4 legs,
the earth is flat,
bats are birds,
and it offers mutually exclusive accounts of Creation.
So let's not look to that book for evidence
until we settle the question of its reliablity

I'm surprised you don't see the validity in the testimony of the four different accounts of the gospel. You of all people should know that the Bible is not one book, but 66 books. I begin to see that I am wasting time talking to you. You should know some of this stuff if you were a teacher of the Bible.

Well, Guns, Matthew claims that the baby Jesus was hauled off to Egypt to avoid the "slaughter of the innocents"
which no historical record has ever made mention of.
Mat made this claim "that the scriptures might be fulfilled",
but he was lying. Matthew 2:13-15
Now have a look at Luke 2:21 - 42.
This describes Jesus' life and place of residence
from 8 days to 12 years old.
No opportunities for a side trip to Egypt.
