Typical, a working class boy makes good and everybody picks on him. All he was doing was spreading a little joy in some lonely ladies lives. You couldn't make this up, no one would believe it.
This video is soviet and Federation antitsarist propoganda. For example, Vladimir Aleksandrovich Sukhomlinov, minister of war, is described as Rasputin's appointee and as a money grubbing incompetent. Those were the charges of which he was convicted, but even the Bolsheviks freed him as innocent. Sukhomlinov had modernized the Tsar's military from defensive forts to mobile artillery and cavalry but mechanized warfare was a new technology and Germany's massive mechanized preparedness unexpected.
Oh yeah, just forget to mention that Rasputin was totally against the war, had kept Russia out of another war, and did everything in his power to try and stop Russia's involvement in WWI. This makes it seem like he "bungled" the war. If not for Rasputin Russia may have fallen earlier.
Oh boy, Alexandra should not have trusted anything about Rasputin. The Tsar wasn't even there, then Rasputin got murdered, and that really pushed the last of the Russian Monarchy headlong into destruction.
Who he was, what he was is of little import. He is not and never will be the first or last person to drink hard, play with the girls and tell lies. Most of our leaders do so to this day, but we used to turn a blind eye.
Not now, we are finding out things and we want to know and hold people accountable.
Rasputin was no darker than the Leaders of our Countries are today, and if people like this can command power, what can be said of the "Intelligent" people that let him in??
The absolute biggest b..s.. propaganda/historical misrepresentation I've ever heard, lol! Rasputin had never played ANY role in a political arena and especially in bringing the Czar's regime. Those bizarre British know-all historians' statements are truly an insult to the whole Russian history.
he gained influence when the Tsaar left to personally command his army. Once Nicholas II wasn't there to oversee what he was trying to do, he gained subtle influence.
One other point - sorry but I must say this I think is that the story about his death (never forget-THIS MEN GET MURDERED!) - I am really shocked that "such clever" people" say such bullXXXX! The cousin said this story - NO poison was in his blood and many witnesses said the story is/was very easy:
At first the tormented him to find out what he REALLY knews-and that was none political.
Then the VERY VIOLENT beated him (1part-the picture-THE BEATED ONE EYE OUT OF HIM!) and then the shotted him!
Something points are NOT true (like in every documentary-what ever it goes about) in the documentation! The MOST IMPORTANT POINT I believe is that he NEVER HAD ANY POLITICAL POWER!!!
The Zar get VERY ANGRY if Rasputin tried (of course he tried it) to "help him" with political things! He NEVER made political any decision because Rasputin said it! Rasputin for example said the Zar he should NOT get into WW 1 - the Zar get into it and did not only anwser the advice! The rest is very good here!
I dont get how Rasputin is on this list, none of this is that evil at all, he's almost likable, especially relative to the other people on the list and some people who weren't included, he should not be here
i really have a hard time seeing rasputin as evil...corrupt...yes, stupid at times? yed, crazy of course, lustful yeah, wild yup, but evil i dont know man he never really did anything evil, there were evil-er men in history...
@MissDumyat It wasn't power that "corrupted" Rasputin, he just didn't know what to do with it. It's like telling your gardener or maid, "Here, take my house" and when he can't pay the bills because he's just been inviting over friends and having parties, you just get mad because you expected so much from someone to do your work. The royal family fucked up and needed to blame it on Rasputin, who was just a horny monk. So they had him killed and claimed he was "the anti-christ."
Idk if I'd call Rasputin evil. Idiot & a mischiveous asshole, yes, but evil no. He & the tsarsita were not passionately involved. There is a letter that has proof they were but was proved a forgery. He was only thought of as a healer & friend to them. I admit I don't know much of him but I still don't think he was evil. Just an asshole who wanted power & was too idiotic & uneducated to know what to do with it when he got it. Evil is doing it purposely, he didn't know what he was doing (I believe)
maybe the person who wrote this so called documentary should read about the history he is talking about as to get some of it right at least Rasputin thought he was going to Jussop's palace to cure his wife's headaches. Of course he may have had other reasons but that is what he was told
@truvianni The people in this documentary obviously don't like Rasputin and want everyone to believe that he was "evil." They will alter "small" facts in order to get their point across better.
@truvianni ...the title of this show is "The Most Evil Men In History." The speakers are extremely bias (especially the guy) and they obviously are speaking from the propaganda spoken against Rasputin in order to draw attention away from the royal family. The truth is that Rasputin did not deserve the power he was given and it's the royal family's fault for giving it to him. Rasputin had no knowledge of how things worked and he did things based on his former lifestyle.
@LuneyTune72 true he also was not greedy about money as very often he gave away a lot of the money he received for doing favors to the poor. I am a writer and wrote a story about Rasputin if you care to read it please google "Truvianni,Rasputin". I would like to know your opinion if you want to share it of course
@LuneyTune72 Well I saw it in a film about Rasputin now weather it is true or not that is something I dont know. I of course changed some of the things in my story from the scene I saw in the film but it is about the same
@truvianni It really captures Rasputin's character in a very descriptive manner. The way you describe his stare and presence is very capturing and I even felt nervous reading it. You also managed to implement a lot of Rasputin's truths into this very short story and it shows him as what he was, a mysterious man. Great job!
@LuneyTune72 like we say in Poland "Dziekuje" which is thank you.I am American but live in Poland.I actually speak both Polish and Russian.I have written many such stories and even a book called "New York's Opera Society".I am a fan of both the opera and history.I see you found it on my website at wordpress I hope you will read others if you want of course
@truvianni I will check them out. I am currently working on a ballet about Rasputin. So far I have a song about his murder and a song about a vicious nightmare brought on by a Mare (a spirit in Germanic folklore.) I suggest listening to Igor Stravinky and his telling of the Russian character Petrushka. You may also like Frank Zappa, who you may know.
@LuneyTune72 Well as a fan of classical music I am very familiar with Stravinksy's works specially the Rite Of Spring,Firebird and of course Petrushka which I have heard many times as well as seen its ballet version.I have heard the name Zappa but never his music as I am basically a listener of opera and classical but I will check out.
@truvianni Zappa was influenced by Igor Stravinksy and Edgar Varese (another great composer.) I suggest you check out his performance with Ensemble Modern on the album The Yellow Shark. Search YouTube for "G Spot Tornado Frank Zappa and Ensemble Modern." He is not the composer in the video but he appears at the end to shake hands with the performers.
@LuneyTune72 Will do that! actually I know Vai used to play with his band.I would like to sugest Wagner's music specially "The Ring". The motifs in Wagner are incredibly and worth checking out as well
@LuneyTune72 I have to admit he is not bad, didnt know much about him before I heard that piece I had heard Bobby Brown before but that is all.Actually the only thing I knew him for prior to today was left wing politics but I am glad I heard some of his music am listening to Muffin Man now. Like we say in Poland dziekuje
@truvianni In actuality, Rasputin was a monk who practiced Christianity (was accused of being khlysts but the claims were false) but had a strong sexual desire for women. His weird image and prophetic claims were the reasons he became an easy scapegoat. When he was thrown into power, he was clueless of what to do so he just messed things up. When Russia suffered, the royal family put the blame on him and then had him brutally murdered for their mistake.
@LuneyTune72 there is so much contradicint information about him.I read a book about him written by his daughter which perhaps was a bit biased in his favor of course some of the things said about him were obsurd like that he and the Czarina were sexuallly involved I see yours is a balanced point and one I could see as being what he really was
@truvianni Thank you! I have heard what his daughter had to say as well, and I agree that you have to read it in a non-bias way so you don't get dragged in toward one side. I just think it's unfair to list Rasputin in a similar category as someone like Hitler. A man being remembered as a monster is cruel when it isn't deserving. Anyways, thanks for listening :)
@LuneyTune72 I think they only called him one of the most evil men becaue it sells better and gets more attentition.I think you know how most people are that such bombastic titles draw their attention more
@truvianni Exactly, they want people to be drawn into this show for ratings and probably hired some people who don't really care enough about Rasputin to dispute the rumors. Sadly, they are ruining a man's history while spitting on his grave. And I would not be so angered about this if it weren't popular belief that Rasputin was "evil." They should really replace Rasputin with Jerry Falwell or Jimmy Swaggart.
@LuneyTune72 Of course when you say spitting on his grave I know you are doing so metaphorically but the truth is Rasputin's body was taking out of his grave and boyoneted, tosssed about, cut to pieces and finaly burnt. Some well known general said he got what he deserved
@LuneyTune72 well perhaps more a figure of speech but I got your point though his grave was violeted. I also hope you liked my story I think it does show some truth to his character and notice how at the end he did not take the money
@truvianni Most people will often call Rasputin insane or a monster because compared to a strict Christian Rasputin WAS a monster. In reality, he was just a horny guy who looked like a bad guy cus he was on the ugly side. He never killed anyone or raped any women, he was an outcast and a scapegoat. His rumors were manifested by those who hated him for his "strange" lifestyle.
@LuneyTune72 maybe they didnt hate him personaly but like you said found in him the perfect scape goat and perhaps were also jealous of him that he could get so close to the Czar while they who had money and titles could not and he in a short amount of time managed to win over the royal family.Actually the daughter of the man who killed him and Rasputin's daughter became friends later on
you have to be joking i mean fun is fun but there is and never has been any historical proof that Rasputin and Alexandra were sexual involved yet it was rumored but most historians find it hard to imagine that such a thing could have been
Ummm yeepster.... i have a few questions about your Production company? did you Produce this discovery channel documentary? also if its only for home viewing why is it on youtube? just curious =)
I cant believe how shallow and stupid zar and zarina were to never see this coming,,,,Cant believe how a man like him so week, ruled a country so great like Russia,,Maybe its for all good their dynasty ended,,,,Who knows??!!
everyone hated him, saw he was a rapist, knew he was a fake and yet he had so many connections to get to the court i.e The Russians were weak and stupid...sounds like american pseudo-history at its best!!
my comment was sarcastic - that's why i said it was 'american pseudo-history.' as in history written by an american which is ultimately wrong or biased
Not just American, the globialist have try to rewritten history on purposed so that they are trying to controlled everybody regardless of if you are living in Los Angeles, Moscow, Montreal, Rome, Berlin, or Christchurch, New Zealand.
Firstly it is very one sided. Rape victims are talked about, re-enactments of sexual activity. Whilst there are near no accounts of anyone praising Rasputin (Not saying I like him)
Secondly the use of camera techniques is so obvious. 2:27-2:29 the use of non-diagetic sombre music. The contrast of colour between the Queen and Rasputin. How his face fills the screen creating a sense of dominance. Low key lighting which evokes a sense of mystery and darkness
Ah History...HIS Story. That is why you are all arguing and why no-one will ever discover the truth. It is all simply propaganda being pushed one way or the other,
@mrblingist dont be a dick.........russia had lots of problems back then....revolution ...that sort of thing....but hey kicked germanys asses in WWII though........ germany invades.... and russia pushes them back right to Berlin....
I read a rumor years ago that Rasputin's private parts were preserved, and that they were in the possession of some 'white' Russian emigré women in France. Wonder if it's true.
@kavabond2 obtain wisdom? why dont you try "obtain wisdom". ive never heard that put so stupidly.
communists? I think you need to read a few books. first off they were shot by the dirty filth that were the bolsheviks, and in case you fucking forgot they were a family. with children. they were shot, bayonetted, and bludgeoned in a basement. if you think there is a cause to celebrate that then your mother should have been clubbed when she was pregnant with you. you uneducated common pig
i thought rasputin didnt die from being shot... at school they taught us that he was poisoned then shot and survived that, then was chained up and thrown in a river
@AngusJMS it is absolutely disgusting isn't it. the man was a crooked and as bent as a banana for what he did with the second duma. and he was a tryant for the way he treated those speaking against the regime
they keep throwing the words "scandal" and "corrupt" around when the truth is rasputin was an honest man but his draw back was he was too honest, he spoke his mind, told people what he realy wanted, and wasn't affraid to take hold of his desires with both hands, the truth is that his whole perspective of religion actually makes sense (true men of god enjoy repenting, but to repent for things you have not actually done is basically a lie, so to repent for things you did you must actually do them)
wow they are stupid they think that rasputin cause all russian problem or what.and o yes under ussr the people where eating and now it's tough to eat.death to capitalism.
they poisoned him... shot him several times and beat him and he was still alive Prince Yusipev then in a fit of rage castrated him they dump him in the river. Dig him up and burn his body... lol wow They REALLY hated this guy..
@adrianglennbionat Rasputin was a chancer, and a sponger, manipulating powerful people and situations, he was not a conventional god fearing monk, more of a mong than a monk!
@y05077 Sir, are you watching the same video I am? How do you get only 30 seconds? Actually, the account of Rasputin's death starts at 5:37 and continues to the end, 8:04. My math says that's 2 min. and 27 seconds.
(Did you take math in school?) All in all, this 3-part documentary is excellent and historically accurate. Thanks yeepster!
@greenstboy Its and exaggeration of facts commonly used in the world to get a view across more easily, basically im not sitting and doing the exact math im making a point that the death could have been told in more detail we know why it was arranged but not exactly reasons that it could have been so strange, I never said it was a bad documentary im stating that the death could have been told in more detail you came up with the rest on your own either way you don't need to be pedantic and rude
@y05077 Because the people on this show hate Rasputin and they think he was literally "evil." The man was a horny monk who believed that sexual sinning was a test of faith. The idiots who threw him into power are the ones to blame for the countries collapse, Rasputin was simply being himself; He carried on having sexual affairs because he had always done that and it wasn't a surprise because he was always known for it. His murder was caused by the royal family so the documentary avoids it.
lesson from this never put a woman in charge of state affairs. alexandra was an idiot she was probably getting fucked by rapustin son of a bitch. but the tsar was supposed to stand on his ground, murder rasputin and put someone else in charge.
Excellent doc,but some imbeciles feel they know more than the historians in this doc,its always uneducated fools that know everything,an educated man understands that knowledge is infinite and we only have a finite time, thats why there is always something more we can learn no matter ho educated we are,but a fool knows everything and learns nothing
@skunkkey666 The Discovery Channel does not primarily employ decent, well known historians to write their pap. It is hack sensationalism. Still good ents though...
In the first part it was said he was responsible for hundreds of thousands of lives and now it's millions? They're not even trying to make it look like an objective documentary. This is like Fox News.
@ZombieDragQueen The Brit fags are still pissed off their precious Romanov's got the chop and are willing to twist the truth to make Rasputin look like the one who ruined it all. When the reality is the Romanov's dug their own grave with their own actions. One of the ways they do so obviously was shooting the most powerful spiritual forces in Russia in the back in cold blood.
the most powerful spiritual forces? he was a dirty filthy peasant piece of shit that wanted only money and power and cheap hookers. how fucking ignorant can you possibly be? he used the weakness of a mother to bring down a dynasty in russia which allowed a fucking mockery of communism to take over
@MeesterCrumpet You're attacking the Romanov's also. You are assuming they are so totally stupid that they allowed a 'peasant piece of shit' to hang around their court a man devoid of any spiritual strength or worth. The facts speak louder than your words anyway obviously a man who could survive a vicious poisoning in cold blood is a Sage. He was obviously a man of immense strength. And who knows if the stories of his exploits are true or not. If he was sexually active so what who are you?
You don't realize .. Russia had the largest Army in Europe Made up of millions of men ! Millions of them died against Germany in each of the both World Wars ! they are not making it up
whoa! this guy is badass. he was a monk a alchoholic a guy with power and a dude that had a 12 inch cock and ruled with it instead of his head and owon every girl. GO RAPUTIN!
I don't see why this guy would be considered one of the most evil men in history. The Russian ruling class was corrupt and incompetent, and Rasputin took advantage of them to make some money and have alot of sex. This certainly is not a moral act, granted. But one dude doing his best to screw as many women as possible is hardly on the same level of evil as people like Hitler and Stalin though, or even a smaller scale mass murderer like Vlad the Impaler.
@Bravhrt79 Possessions aren't real, it's all people who want power. Rasputin was simply a very persuasive man, and held great influence over the most powerful woman in Russia, who was a complete idiot.
@Sieben187 Totally agree. He doesn't even come close to the most evil men in history. He was not the sole cause of revolution. The tsar and his wife were totally incompetent.
so within three months of him executed the czar fell.he seems to have been in the way of the revolution(international banks). history channel is controlled by the corrupt .
Is it just me or are they making this guy into a scape goat of some kind. Somehow I smell a bit of bull, I mean couldn't it be they just didn't like him cause he fucked too much? Can't it be that the Czar himself was responsible for angering the people and the people responsible for killing the czar? Why blame it all on this guy?
@CorridorOfTruth Exactly! Again, Discovery Channel lost its already fainting credibility with such a biased "documentary". It is clearly fabricated. Obviously, this guys was no saint. Most of what is known about Rasputin was told by his enemies. Did anybody hear HIS version? The Royal family was executed, Rasputin body's was burnt and what. Of course history is told by the victorious. RIP Rasputin.
That is exactly what is going on in our Government today, with AIPAC, and this corrupt disgusting organisation which is destroying the very fabric of the civilized world. Every Government world wide is corrupted by this organisation creating frightening consiquences. In WARS and Corruption. This Luciferian Satanic styled people are dangerous indeed to every man woman and child on this planet.
The Czar was a fool i dont know if he was a bad man but if he wanted to stay in power he should have stifled the media.........but by this time even the army hates the czar because even they are starving. Even the most ruthless men in the kingdom were tired of the bull. Eventually the overthrow came and later came the death of millions under stalin.
Typical, a working class boy makes good and everybody picks on him. All he was doing was spreading a little joy in some lonely ladies lives. You couldn't make this up, no one would believe it.

His weird image and prophetic claims were the reasons he became an easy scapegoat. When he was thrown into power, he was clueless of what to do so he just messed things up. When Russia suffered, the royal family put the blame on him and then had him brutally murdered for their mistake.
LuneyTune72 4 months ago
@LuneyTune72 there is so much contradicint information about him.I read a book about him written by his daughter which perhaps was a bit biased in his favor of course some of the things said about him were obsurd like that he and the Czarina were sexuallly involved I see yours is a balanced point and one I could see as being what he really was
truvianni 4 months ago
@truvianni Thank you! I have heard what his daughter had to say as well, and I agree that you have to read it in a non-bias way so you don't get dragged in toward one side. I just think it's unfair to list Rasputin in a similar category as someone like Hitler. A man being remembered as a monster is cruel when it isn't deserving. Anyways, thanks for listening :)
LuneyTune72 4 months ago
@LuneyTune72 I think they only called him one of the most evil men becaue it sells better and gets more attentition.I think you know how most people are that such bombastic titles draw their attention more
truvianni 4 months ago
@truvianni Exactly, they want people to be drawn into this show for ratings and probably hired some people who don't really care enough about Rasputin to dispute the rumors. Sadly, they are ruining a man's history while spitting on his grave. And I would not be so angered about this if it weren't popular belief that Rasputin was "evil." They should really replace Rasputin with Jerry Falwell or Jimmy Swaggart.
LuneyTune72 4 months ago
@LuneyTune72 Of course when you say spitting on his grave I know you are doing so metaphorically but the truth is Rasputin's body was taking out of his grave and boyoneted, tosssed about, cut to pieces and finaly burnt. Some well known general said he got what he deserved
truvianni 4 months ago
@truvianni Yes, I'm speaking metaphorically hahaha.
LuneyTune72 4 months ago
@LuneyTune72 well perhaps more a figure of speech but I got your point though his grave was violeted. I also hope you liked my story I think it does show some truth to his character and notice how at the end he did not take the money
truvianni 4 months ago
@truvianni Most people will often call Rasputin insane or a monster because compared to a strict Christian Rasputin WAS a monster. In reality, he was just a horny guy who looked like a bad guy cus he was on the ugly side. He never killed anyone or raped any women, he was an outcast and a scapegoat. His rumors were manifested by those who hated him for his "strange" lifestyle.
LuneyTune72 4 months ago
@LuneyTune72 maybe they didnt hate him personaly but like you said found in him the perfect scape goat and perhaps were also jealous of him that he could get so close to the Czar while they who had money and titles could not and he in a short amount of time managed to win over the royal family.Actually the daughter of the man who killed him and Rasputin's daughter became friends later on
truvianni 4 months ago
you have to be joking i mean fun is fun but there is and never has been any historical proof that Rasputin and Alexandra were sexual involved yet it was rumored but most historians find it hard to imagine that such a thing could have been

This documentary is so objective.
Low key lighting which evokes a sense of mystery and darkness

markoconnor20112011 10 months ago
they keep throwing the words "scandal" and "corrupt" around when the truth is rasputin was an honest man but his draw back was he was too honest, he spoke his mind, told people what he realy wanted, and wasn't affraid to take hold of his desires with both hands, the truth is that his whole perspective of religion actually makes sense (true men of god enjoy repenting, but to repent for things you have not actually done is basically a lie, so to repent for things you did you must actually do them)

y05077 1 year ago 38
@y05077 Sir, are you watching the same video I am? How do you get only 30 seconds? Actually, the account of Rasputin's death starts at 5:37 and continues to the end, 8:04. My math says that's 2 min. and 27 seconds.
(Did you take math in school?) All in all, this 3-part documentary is excellent and historically accurate. Thanks yeepster!
greenstboy 8 months ago
@greenstboy Its and exaggeration of facts commonly used in the world to get a view across more easily, basically im not sitting and doing the exact math im making a point that the death could have been told in more detail we know why it was arranged but not exactly reasons that it could have been so strange, I never said it was a bad documentary im stating that the death could have been told in more detail you came up with the rest on your own either way you don't need to be pedantic and rude
y05077 8 months ago
@y05077 Because the people on this show hate Rasputin and they think he was literally "evil." The man was a horny monk who believed that sexual sinning was a test of faith. The idiots who threw him into power are the ones to blame for the countries collapse, Rasputin was simply being himself; He carried on having sexual affairs because he had always done that and it wasn't a surprise because he was always known for it. His murder was caused by the royal family so the documentary avoids it.
LuneyTune72 5 months ago
Rasputin was possessed by the devil and this is how the story was. He was not the sole cause of revolution but he has a BIG part of it.

Silvertrine 10 months ago
@Silvertrine
the most powerful spiritual forces? he was a dirty filthy peasant piece of shit that wanted only money and power and cheap hookers. how fucking ignorant can you possibly be? he used the weakness of a mother to bring down a dynasty in russia which allowed a fucking mockery of communism to take over
MeesterCrumpet 10 months ago
@MeesterCrumpet You're attacking the Romanov's also. You are assuming they are so totally stupid that they allowed a 'peasant piece of shit' to hang around their court a man devoid of any spiritual strength or worth. The facts speak louder than your words anyway obviously a man who could survive a vicious poisoning in cold blood is a Sage. He was obviously a man of immense strength. And who knows if the stories of his exploits are true or not. If he was sexually active so what who are you?

I don't see why this guy would be considered one of the most evil men in history. The Russian ruling class was corrupt and incompetent, and Rasputin took advantage of them to make some money and have alot of sex. This certainly is not a moral act, granted. But one dude doing his best to screw as many women as possible is hardly on the same level of evil as people like Hitler and Stalin though, or even a smaller scale mass murderer like Vlad the Impaler.

@CorridorOfTruth Exactly! Again, Discovery Channel lost its already fainting credibility with such a biased "documentary". It is clearly fabricated. Obviously, this guys was no saint.
