IN CAse you dont know the back fans pull the air out of the xbox not blow air in, so essentially by covering the gps heat sink like that with cardboard your doing more harm than good. THe air being pulled in through the sides cant hit the heat sink if its all wrapped up like that.
@kennyp987 actually you have no idea what you're doing. The guy meant GPU heatsink. Also you're supposed to use aluminum foil and not cardboard as cardboard insulates heat. Aluminum foil can both release heat and create the fan shroud mod at the same time. Also what he meant about the sides is the tunnel indentions on the CPU heatsink that lookes like this >___< those indentions are designed to pull air throughput but you are blocking them like an idiot. 12v fan mod = cheaper, quieter, cooler.
@kennyp987 obviously he meant gfx heatsink, which would make sense. less room for air to be pulled into the exhaust fan. It's you who has no idea what you're talking about.
@kennyp987 1 thats a typo...2 hes right...if YOU DIDNT KNOW i will tell you...that "mod" was not needed your dvd drive covers the GPU heatsink and makes that seal to pull air through...and not to mention the xbox360 top case shell dose the same for the CPU heat sink...id highly recomend you take that tape shit out befor a fire starts..and dude wth are you doing that? theres no point if you already have a 12vmodded fan and a 3rd on the side...you already safe from the rrod.
@descriipted by the way i wont rethink any of the mods i have done since all the systems are still running but im sure we would all be glad to see any mods you have done
@descriipted the talismoon fans arent in mine thats a friends console....and the noise doesnt bother us since we both are like 20ft from the console and tv...but i see how it could be annoying in a tiny place
Sounds pretty bad man. I don't understand why you went so over board with it. Its a falcon it tends to not overheat that much. You should of just 12v the stock fans and done the fan shroud mod. The talismoon fans at 12v run hotter than the stock at 12v simply because they were built to run quieter and cooler at low RPMs you should rethink what you have done.
I have a case fan running right over my heat sinks. Works great. I also have talismoon whisper fans in the rear and a bunch of other mods, but only 2 cooling mods. Only part of the box that gets hot now is the back where the fans are pulling out all that hot air!
Hey, do you think that doing this would stop my two red rings appearing (overheat - Error 0013) ? I've tried everything else so this would be the only thing I haven't tried.
Does anyone know if the Talismoon whisper max 5v makes the same noise as the normal talismoon whisper fans cause i dont know which to get and if its the same noise the MAX has 2 modes so than il buy that one
the fan pointing at the side of the heatsink isnt doing anything and your gpu mod is too big, the shroud shouldnt come much past the gpu chip location because the heatsnik will not get enough airflow through the front alone and it neexs to get extra air from the front of the gpu even if it is from under the dvd drive (noone though it might also help cool the dvd drive?)
Way too loud, I`ve modded mine by putting the dvd drive outside in an HDDVD enclosure and mounted a 120mm quiet fan in it`s place, silent and cool running. Doesn`t sound like a jet taking off.
@snakedplisken GOOD when i get these it better sound like 5 astronauts are going to the moon i want the world to know, ITS TIME TO PLAY HALO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it just like building a computer you need air blowing on the heat sinks like in my build i have all 120 mm fans and one blows in from the top and side rite on the mother board then i have a cpu fan and one on the graphics card and then i have two in the back one in the power supply built in and another i added and those are what sucks the air out you need cool the heatsinks and have something suck the hot air out. thats same concept here.
I respect your initiative, but I think it's going in the wrong direction... That noise isn't the fan itself, it's a sucking noise, trying to force air to come from nowhere... Back to the drawing board... Give it another try...
to the creater of this video, the frootloops mod will leave too small of an opining for air to enter and will plug up fast from dust, the dvdrom already coveers that heat cink just enough to get air flow over it and still not close enough to have air flow issues from dust
by covering the tops of the heatsinks in your fanshroud mod...your actually causing the back of the heatsinks to get hotter...because the front of the heatsink is the only part getting the cool air. Check out xbox on my page.
yeah that's really the worst sounding 360 i have ever heard. there is no need to add extra fans just do the rrod fix and you should prolly be fine. But if you want to ensure that it stays really cool buy the better heatsinks and thats it
Can you connect all 3 Fans (Core Cooler V2 and Whisper Max) to the powersource with the cables that come in the package of the fans, or do you have to buy a seperate distribution cable?

@proaudiomaniac
If you have copper foil use that instead because it conducts heat better.
sloppy9649 6 months ago
@sloppy9649 i think aluminum works better though because it is more pliable than copper. But good call on the copper.

There is something one of the fans is hitting i would really open it up and see what that is because if it's a wire something very bad could happen!
xboxh4xer 2 years ago
i have a few questions,
first when you set it up do you need to do any extra wire work or you can connect all the connector together and it will work?
second when all the fan are on, and the whisper fan are on 12v does it effect the dvd drive in anyway?
