  • Wow. This song is one of the reasons I love this movie. Also her beauty, her body and that dress looks amazing on her. This version of the song is great.

  • I love this movie, but I admit I hadn't seen this scene before. Now I love Sway, have since I was a kid and Jennifer singing it in the other scene is ridiculously hot, but her performance in this scene is far superior. Notice the minute attention to detail in her every movement. The characterization here is so much richer and the scene seems tied more firmly to the rest of the movie. It's just too bad this scene didn't end up on the theatrical release. I really wanna see this director's cut now.

  • At first I've had a physical attraction to Jennifer. Is it weird if I know just want a small granddaughter that looks and sounds exactly like her? It seems....I just want to be related to her. Nothing sexual about it anymore.

  • Anita's vocalization is far superior to Jennifer's, BUT, Jennifer's FITS the character and film better.

  • As frightening as having one's memories and very existence manipulated by alien superiors, if it meant being able to hang in a smoky bar and listen to Jennifer Connelly sing torch songs ..so be it.

Great film and thanks for the upload.

  • does anyone know were i can download/or buy this version of the song, i love it and when i got the dark city album (awsome) i was disgusted to see it wasnt on there but the Anita Kelsey was, she tries to hard i want this version HEEELLLLP !

  • this woman is fking perfect XD

  • Notice how the musicians play with their eyes closed. I know the highlight of this scene is Jennifer Connelly, but I think it's those rich details that make this movie so great.

  • The verse music in this song sounds like Elton John's It ain't gonna be easy and the chorus music sounds like the Who's Behind Blue Eyes. Does anyone else hear this?

  • Connelly's singing does fit the movie so well.

I think both versions of the song are ruined just a little bit by the guitar in the background, though. They add little, and detract from the basic jazz trio lounge sound. What on Earth possessed them to add that?

  • BONER!!!!!!

  • neat indeed.

  • the songs sounds better with her voice XD Hers is a lower voice XD she could have added a bit of feeling to it but that might not have been what the director was aiming for.

  • Did she get a nose job?

  • @Elizabeth7395

    No, she's just perfect!

  • Theres is a longer version? i only found a full version with Anita singing

  • So sorry guys but Jennifer Connelly's voice though not educated is so beautiful and better than the original (in my opinion). Either that or me being a huge fan has ruined my ear :). Love Connelly <3.

  • Connelly has a great voice for Blues. I guess most would say Anita has the better vocals, but Jennifer was more ideal for these particular pieces IMO. Plus it just adds to the feel of the film knowing it's really her.

Thank god for the Directors Cut. The addition of Connelly's real voice and the deletion of that dialog at the beginning make the film that much better.

  • Sultry!

  • Loved this movie and love this song.

  • The only problem I have with this version is that when she sings the "little white lines" lie, she has slightly joyful, almost mischievous grin that kind of breaks character a bit.

  • Jennifer Connelly is so sexy in this song

  • Anita Kelseys voice on Sway is more full of passion, Jennifers Voice on the same song gives it a more nervous and edgy sound to it like a first kiss.

  • i love her singing in dark city, love IT!!!

  • 1000 dies

  • I'm glad you all like it. Thank you for your comments.

As for who's "superior", maybe Anita Kelsey is superior singer, but Jenifer Connelly fits here better. IMO of course.

  • Guys if you will notice in the movie, the set-up , settings and story took place about 30's or 40's. Now, the sound of the instrument in this version of JC is not suited cuse it souns 2000 or present. But notice the voice of JC here, It better suited to 30's and 40's. So I guess in this particular scene, the Music is not better suited but JC's voice does.

  • An important point is that Connelly is playing a lounge singer. She's not supposed to be a great singer. Anita Kelsey's voice was too technically good and didn't fit this character at all.

It's like Isabella Rossellini in BLUE VELVET.

I find Connelly's voice far more appealling and human. There's more performance in it, rather than simply giving a good rendition of a song.

    I love this extended scene.

  • @ChristopherFolan You are dead on accurate! I never saw the theatrical version of this movie and thought the exact same thing when I watched the director's cut yesterday for the first time. It was obvious that they used the actresses real voice to me even though I had no idea it was dubbed in the movie originally, and my real thought at the time was "the fact that she's not a technically 'great' singer actually makes sense for a small-time lounge act.." IE it fits the movie's story.

  • I'm a huge fan of Dark City and Ms Connelly... but my personal opinion is that the version in the Original Cut with Anita Kelsey's voice is much superior, especially in the Arrangement.

But Jennifer's version of 1,000 Eyes is especially nice in that we get to hear more of it in the Director's Cut.

    Thanx for the Upload!

  • Personally, I think Connelly has a much softer/more beautiful voice than Kelsey. Just my opinion though.

  • We all have our personal tastes, of course.

I think Jennifer is quite gorgeous... but, for me, her singing leaves a lot to be desired. Her Pitch is off... I don't think she has much Presence... etc.

All of this said, I think her real voice works nice in the Movie because she's a Bar Joint Singer... and that's how Jennifer sings.

So, no offense, but I think Anita's voice is technically much superior... but like you said, we all have our "opinions."

  • but theres a whole lot more to music than being technically perfect, the majority of artists/musicians i listen to are far from perfect, and i couldn't give a shit.

  • Hm Yea I see your point about her pitch being off and such, but I don't know, something about her singing just appeals to me more than Kelsey's.

  • windows72:

Well of course it does... It's Jennifer... Not many girls around that are that gorgeous.

  • Actually I take back what I said her singing is alot better than the dubbed over one in the theatrical version....ALOT better. Peace.

  • Im a big J.C fan and all, but her singing isnt great here.

  • I just wish they had pulled her to do a full version for the soundtrack.

  • amen spencerrrr..so much better

  • Jennifers singing voice is so damn sexy. Why the producers/execs meddled and dubbed her vocals with Anita Kelseys in the Theatrical release is beyond me. I am glad the Directors Cut restored Jennifers singing.

  • true!

  • Thank you all for agreeing. I am glad to see i am not the only one who feels this way!

  • @SpencerBenedict2nd

According to discussions on IMDB it's because Connelly requested it.

  • @herrin343 Herrin343 thanks for the info. as i was not aware of that. To bad she did not to get the hear the opinions of her fans before making that decision.
