good comment, but let me clarify on one point. there have been about 6 recorded bites by the inland taipan, and none have been fatal, although one about 6 years ago nearly killed the guy up in the Atherton Tablelands. Captive snake, drunk handler,... life support for 3 months, kidney failure, liver failure, the works. Lucky to survive. The interesting thing is that of those 6 recorded bites, 4 have been dry bites (no envenomation occuring). Have a nice day.

This is not cruel its nature, this is how it kills in the outback.
The rat has no chance against that kind of venom as the inland can even take out a hundred people with a single bite.
The death for the rat is painless as the venom neutralizes all oxygen to the brain with 20 seconds hence the rapid death.
Unfortunately evolution chose Australia to put all the nasty stuff on probably because it’s so isolated an shit from the rest of the world.

They put live mice, in a tupperware container - Then put it in the freezer until the mice are dead.
I don't know about you, but I'd rather be poisoned, and die in less than a minute... Than to be frozen to death (which takes MUCH longer)...

The Taipan has the most deadly venom, But it doesn't have huge amount and isn't a very aggressive snake.

Sorry that is just plain wrong - if yo uare talking about LD50 (mouse as subjects) it comes out as the Inland Taipan who kills the most with the least venom.

excellent and 100% correct comment... LD50 means the minimum Lethal Dose that will kill 50% of a certain number of mice in laboratory setting (I dont know how many mice that population consists of.)
#1 is the inland taipan (Oxyuranus microlepidotus), #2 eastern brown (Pseudonaja textilis), #'s 3 & 4 is the eastern taipan and New Guinea taipan, (O. scutellatus & canni), and I heqard of a new taipan species being descibed for the Kimberly region of WA. At least 10 Aussie snakes shit on all odrs.

We Don't need meat? Maybe if you want to be a skinny little runt with no muscle stucture you don't need it. We are meant to eat meat. Open your mouth see those teeth at the front they are for meat not vegetables. Instead of jumping to conclusions maybe you should check if this particular snake will take dead food. Some will refuse to eat anything that is not live. In any case it is nature, happens millions of times a day.

humans are classified as hunter gatherers. This means that we do not need meat, and could live off of only vegetation, however if you want a healthy diet, meat is important, and has many benefits to your health.

Snakes in general are not scavengers so they will rarely eat things that are not moving.
The taipan has venom so that is can kill live animals, the venom is not just a defense mechanism.

That is a pretty irresponsible thing to do as a snake owner.
Rats have been known to seriously injure snakes when they are cornered in cages like that. They bite, scratch etc and it may not save their life but the snake suffers and usually ends up dying as they don't usually recover well from trauma.

It may not have the fastest killing venom but you need very little of his venom to kill a person.That's why it's the most venomous snake in the world. The black mamba has more recorded deaths on his name because he kills you in 20 minutes or so. By the time you get to the hospital, it's usually too late. But the inland taipan lives only in a small area of Australia so every hospital there has anti venom. So that's why there hasn't been any deaths.

there's no record of their deadliness on humans. The black mamba is africa's most feared snake for a reason. The taipan is 90% hype. One adventurer who was bitten by one in the 40s died within 40 hours. That's slow motion compared to a bm's bite which was 100% fatal before antivenin, and would kill within minutes.

again, the taipan hasn't killed any humans, except one in the 40s who died after more than 24 hours. The black mamba is on record for having a bite that's 100% fatal in humans, and kills in as little as 20 minutes. I'd much rather have an inland tapian in my backyard than a black mamba. Taipans are mostly hype.

speed of death has nothing to do with how potent the venom is - speed of death is determined by the symptoms of the venom. The venom of the taipan is the most potent because one drop of it can kill more people than a drop of venom from any other snake regardless of how long it takes to die.

That's the thing; it's just speculation. Black mamba, unlike taipan, is provenly quickly deadly to people, while taipan's bites have mostly been tested on mice. Again, one person died (rip to him) from a taipan bite, but not until about 48 hours later. That's the proof of the pudding, whereas BM has a long record of much quicker human killings. Perhaps mice and humans don't react the same to the same venoms. The BM's bite was 100% fatal, I think that's enough to determine its venom's danger.

i see what you mean - its not like you can actually test how many a drop of either's venom kills for ethical reasons. its also something tour guides like to use to wow tourists so its not clear how truthful it actually is...

well, the mamba delivers up to 400 mg of venom, while the inland taipan gave give up to 110 mg, so you have to take the amount of venom injected into consideration.

even before anti-venin, it didn't kill as fast as the black mamba, which could kill a person in 20 minutes. Black mamba bites were 100% fatal before anti-venom became available. it's also faster and more aggressive than the tippy.

Yea, one particular bite recorded 110mg of the most toxic venom found in any snake. That amount would be enough to kill over 100 people or 250,000 mice! Black mambas a bad motherfucker too - and either way i'd not want to piss off either. Just be thankful the black mamba share its homeland with 6 of the other top ten deadliest snakes in the world like the inland taipan.

um actually...no its not. there is a difference in most deadly and most venomous. the most venomous snake on earth is the one in this video, the inland taipan. the most deadly is the saw-scaled viper because it kills so many people a year.

erm i wouldn't be able to give you the name of the village, but it was on a 4x4 trip from cairns direct to darwin across the top of northern queensland and northern territories. we just stopped off on the first day and looked at this guy's snakes.
and yea sea snakes arent aggro at all - ive dived with some and they are totally chilled out unless obv you abuse them or something

i hear lots of things - tour guides like to use "most venomous whatever" alot as it sounds cool.
i think this is the most venomous snake - something like 1 drop of venom can kill 250,000 mice (this mouse had no chance). Most deadly and most venomous are different things as well. sea snakes are venomous but not deadly as they dont like to waste venom as it costs so much to produce. so the most toxic land snake is more toxic than the most toxic sea snake - to answer your question.
