It's popular to hate John Edward, but I wonder how many people who bash him have actually taken the time to actually watch his stuff and come to their own opinion. If you come to a conclusion based on this clip, based on south park, or based on the opinions of others without thinking for yourself then you're a tool plain and simple. Cold reading is an insufficient explanation for John Edward, he gets way too many highly improbable hits.

As to spirits "yelling" it's a physic massage. The argument would be that It doesn't actually come through as sound waves. But those spirits that do promote a strong massage will force there emotions on the medium and cause the medium to feel those same emotions.
