  • It is not a "75 LP" but a 78 RPM disc record.

  • creepy

  • Do anyone of you know about Libylla Grammophon??

  • What an awesome machine. And for some reason when I degrade another's comment, youtube now turns the thumb into a fork and a knife. Is there a restaurant nearby?

  • It sounds awful!! >< Then again... what else was I expecting...

  • Sir, Do you know about Genuine Gramophone ?

Your Gramophone is a Duplicate. It is not a Genuine Gramophone. Am a Gramophone Mechanic

  • As a collecter of gramophones. These are called in our terms Crapophones from india wouldnt even atempt to play any 78rpm record on them or even own one.

  • Good video, but this gramophone, isn' t original, it' s an imitation, but it is functionally. The disc is the Harry Lime Theme, the disc, is a Decca Record (England), but the pocket, is for Cetra Records (Italy).

  • I like your iPod.

  • So what if the stylus it comes with is bad for your records? Toss it and order a new one that isn't bad for your records!

  • anotr victim to the crap-o-phone :))))))

  • Comment removed

  • yes you are correct

  • How many Gigabytes of memory does it have?

  • Can the plastic ones run on it too?

  • @rondahl18 No! Like trying to play a blu-ray on a record player, totally incompatable. You will destroy any vinal record you attempt to play on it, not to mention the speed of LPs is 33 or a singal is 45 not 78 like the old ones.

  • He's beyond Hipster vinyl.

  • i want one like that........

  • LOL! Why bother with such old technology????just use an iPod!

  • @kittykatro Actually, LPs from the 60s and 70s boast much more real sound than digital CDs and files.

  • iy plays really nice, I have got an indian reproduction (actually 2) and it plays OK.

  • The ice cream van round ours used to play this.

  • i just found a portable gramophone from 1920~1930 in my dads basement and im so amazed by it..the music and the sound is just amazing..this kind of device must have been truly magical in its days and it still is.

  • i like that old machine i want it 6 years

  • A caveat: most of those reproduction Victrola-type phonographs have been coming from China as of late (much like the Steepletone/Crosley crap turntables) with fake HMV stickers (rather than metal badges on the originals).

  • Sounds like an ice cream van LOL but it looks really good.

  • so much work to get it playing. I love that machine... We have one but it's not working anymore : |

  • lol you should do some scratching on that

  • love this tune. av heard it on a c1912 German thing, a big cabinet thing. on antiques roadshow once. nice, though.

  • An original will have a serial number plate on the inside of it. Many of the parts would be original however. But you're not supposed to play electric 78s on acoustic phonograph players. The newer records have smaller and more sensitive grooves and the old needles will ruin the record. Which means you can play records made up to about 1925 or so. Anything after that should not be played on this machine.

  • @MontagTheMagician I recently bought a reproduction gramophone and a couple of Elvis Presley singles from around 1954 (some of the last 78s). What needles should I have in order not to damage the record? Thanks in advance!

  • @CubeableGame Again, DO NOT play electric 78s on acoustic machines like this one. If you have 1950s 78s then they should only be played on electric turn tables. If they do not plug in to the wall then the Elvis records should not be played on them. Nothing recorded past the 1920s should be played on this machine.

  • how much is that gramophone? i want to buy it also.

  • This is how you play it with style :D

    HAHA nice

  • Am I the only person to think that The Third Man was a terrible movie?

  • @DeLorean4 Yes.

  • Imagen playing hardstyle on it :O

  • nice shorts buddy! good song too!

  • Nice!

  • Супер! =)

  • So what if it's a reproduction? Some of us can't pay like $5000 for a real one, or whatever they're going for nowadays. I've seen them as low as $100 or so, and I think I'd like to have one, if for nothing more than decoration, even though I've got a nice Columbia Grafonola already.

  • Can I play 7 inch vinyls on such a gramophone? Please reply.

  • Spongebob music :D

  • no matter if this is an original gramophone or not - you like it, you love it and this is the important thing! all others who try to blame you, don't listen to them!

  • Please don't use "LP" when referring to a 78 rpm record. This record

appears to be a tad too new for this machine, it's from around 1950, perhaps

thats why the sound is a bit strident. Records from the 50's tend to sound

less well on these machines than earlier discs.

  • Bob squarepants music in a reproduction gramophone,, nice record! good sound.

  • I want it!!

  • Remembering it well.

    Celebrating my 100th birthday....

  • You made my week,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Orson

  • Aggh! It so pains me to see good records being played on cheap reproduced machines from the East. This is a fine example of the creaky, rattling rubbish which has killed many a vintage record. Any decent gramophone should run silent and obey many other standards which are too numerous to list here, but which this one clearly dosn't. If you are serious about collecting 78s, an H.M.V. 102 can be had for around £150. Their sound quality is fantastic for a portable.

  • Spongebob :D

  • @Dooomhunter JA GENAU das dachte ich mir auch grade....lol aber ein klasse Gramophon!

  • This looks like a reproduction. These are made in India. But, very nice record!

  • all I need now is a cold beer...analouge sound ftw!

  • imagine electronic music on that. ;D:D hillarious ;D

  • Hello simmons2 , this news is bad, but please, bear with me. I am beginning to collect these out-horn gramophones and have soaked up all of the info I can about them. I shall soften the blow a little, but... *sigh* this is a fake gramophone. Please preserve you're records, and do not play them in this seemingly real monster. ( 2 hints) 1. The sound box pipe that connects to the horn is a sharp angle and not curved 2. the felt that the records rests on, is from a suit-case portable.

  • I thought it looked a bit like a crap-o-phone

  • I would actually love to see some dubstepo or drum and bass played on one of those things, be piss funny.

  • Its the Harry Lime theme!

  • I going to get a gramophone right now! If they still have them in stores.

  • That's a lovely machine you've got there. Original or not.

    Thanks for uploading.

  • awesome... i wanna have a Gramophone now and the LP too... love the third man.

And best of all - with a Gramophone you don't have to pay GEZ (german radio taxes :-)

  • who pays GEZ anyway?;)

  • phonautograph ?

  • I am very sorry to have to tell you that your machine is not an original gramophone, it is a reproduction made in India from scrap metal parts. I am glad that at least it plays well. if you look for an original, check out the website: phonophan. They have a beautiful assortment of original machines (expensive, but rightfully so)

  • Thank you. Already know that...other people said the same thing...

  • @twombonu wow how did you know that

  • @twombonu dick

  • @manfred500 SUCK MY DICK!

  • @twombonu

How can you see that it's not an original? (I'm searching for one and I don't want to have a cheap reproduction that isn't half that qualitative)

  • @twombonu

Just one Question, how can you see... or maybe also hear? that phonographs are original or fake?

  • Damn they did a damn good job building that horn out of scrap metal parts. Where do i get an indian reproduction... You'd have to be a twat to care if its original.

  • @twombonu How can you tell. I'm interested.

  • @FetaCheese222 I am a dedicated, almost fanatical collector! I am proud of my collection. You can check out my videos on my channel, this little Polly portable is one of my most unusual machines. I strongly recommend you check out the website Phonophan! Beware! Collecting gramophones is very addictive!

  • @twombonu rightfully so? Even the good gramophones sound like crap compared to a modern CD on a good Hi-Fi System. Don't get me wrong, i like nostalgia too but i don't like people who keep telling that the only true sound comes from an old vinyl or gramophone. If you're planning to have a really good sounding audio system, you should go for a professional Tube Amplifier. They're expensive too but you have the clearest and best sound that is currently available.

  • @EvilDeathTom There is no doubt that the modern "BOSE" system is probably the best audio available today, and much better than the old gramophones, but.....The old phonographs will outlast every modern audio device, and the sound of human voices is still much more impressive through analog than through digital. I remember how fascinated one of my friends was when he heard the voice of Patti Page through one of my Victrolas. The guy was flabbergasted out of his mind!!

  • @twombonu Bose sucks. Over priced consumer grade garbage. Even low end yamaha studio monitors sound better then anything I've heard from Bose.

  • great record

  • this is a reproduction

  • very good,i love it!

  • i want one!

  • where can i get a gramophone??

  • in some shop with old things

  • I think on ebay ;-)

  • oh man, I NEED a gramophone!

  • i have a graphonola and i hve this song too, the other side is mozart valse lol

  • AGREE! BUT VERY NICE INDEED

  • beautiful.

  • Cool! Anton Karas rocks!

  • For all of you who may be may be interested in reproduction gramophones, go read my comments here for recommendations and tips: /watch?v=RuCFGPRrGXQ I'm in full defense of them. Just get one like the model above, not ornate, and take good care of it and you'll have years of enjoyment out of it. And watch those needles. Learn how to use them. I know a lot of us don't have much money and there are thousands of records out there that still need to be played. Go this route. Enjoy!

  • Beautiful! Finally a correct version of The Third Man Theme using zithers--instead of the sacharine Guy Lombardo Decca. Beautiful!

  • what? why is everybody saying it's a cheap piece of crap? so what if its a copy. I wish I had one but finding one that works is tough

  • Hi guys. Can you please tell me where can I buy a gramophone on the net. I need one that actually works and not the ones that are often offered for decoration. And also, where do you then buy the vynils? Sorry for the stupid questions but

  • you can get one off ebay but if you want a safer more expensive rout then there are some restoration companys that sell some but be ready to pay.

  • I looked at e-bay but its so hard to tell who to trust. And all the pictures are made to look great... What is the price of a GOOD gramophone because I don't believe that one in a "great" working condition can cost like 100 euro?

  • there are a lot of portable models for about$150, old table top models with a external horn are good but some times cost around $2000 but if you don't mined going and picking up your phonograph then the console or floor models would be the best, for a good starter one i would get a victor portable model the ones that are in a suit case then if you want to get more in to it then see if you can find a 1920's internal horn table top model for about $450-$750 good luck with your purchase

  • You Realy need to oil it.

    Gramophones 16.02.2008

  • LOL! :-)

  • Yes i've played the oldest record i had at home.

Is not a LP of course, sorry for my bad english.

And the grammophone looks original but, only for people that doesn't know much about it.

Mine should be a Indian copy, so sad when i discovered that....

  • Comment removed

  • Is not a Reproduction, for what i've seen looks a piece of crap...

  • That ain't no LP - It's a 78.

  • hey dude i have one like that, they may be fake but then some of the older ones(not the ones you see on fleabay) but the ones that say are 20 years old for india are made of old gramophone parts.

have a look at my portable, if anyone out there knows more about it.

  • I thought this was the theme from Harry Lime???

  • Yes you are right, The Harry Lime theme from the Movie the third man!

  • @simmons2 Is that original gramophone or a replica?

  • I have a HMV gramophone similar to that my box is different though, and I always have it maintained in pristine condition

  • This machine is a fake, and the record is 78rpm, not an LP. These machines are pieced together in India....its a long story, if you would like I can message you and give you all the details, I just hope you got it for free.

  • It's a fake. It come from India! These gramophone play music for 2 weeks, then they out of order! It's not a LP. It's 87rpm record. It's chellack!

  • Why u said it's a fake?
