Most unusual, normally stinging insects dominate those that do not. This one killed by piercing mouth parts and sucking the bee's fluids out. In so doing it also had strength to immobilize bee and doing so from behind was the most effective way. It would not try that stunt with a cicada killer much too large and I question it could best a red wasp. Any details on that subject would be of interest.
@skirts365 the larger robber flies can and do kill hornets and larger wasps on a regular basis. their far faster and more maneuverable than any wasp...all they have to do is land on a wasp's back and stab into them with their probiscis and its over. the hornet helplessly gets the life sucked out of it while the robber fly feasts.
@ZethieFoxy lol good 1 u can see that hes purposely sucking out the back of the bee isnt that where the stinger is?? i thought bees keep honey on their legs but that looks perverted
