Most people dont realize that MJs jumping ability was declining. Watch the videos of MJ in92 & onward & u will see MJ not jumping as high or as quickly. & Mj didnt perfect his jumpshot til his 2nd 3peat which was 95-98. In 90-93, Mj had a great jumpshot but it was no way near his high efficiency of 95 & onward. So MJs best years in driving to the hoop never matched with his jumpshot. We never saw MJ with his highest leaping ability mix with his mastery of the J (might have been during baseball

@Shermstyle23 Not going to dispute that. But also remember he didn't start lifting weights until 90-91 because that added upper body weight makes it harder to jump because you are heavier.

Jordan was a GREAT phenomenal shooter. The first spectacular inside player to also become an outside threat (Dr. J was just average from outside).

I don't see how these juvenile Kobe fanatics can argue that Kobe is a better shooter than Jordan simply because he hits more threes. He is a STREAK shooter, not a consistent shooter like Jordan was. That's why Kobe never has even made 50% of his shots in any single season. And when MJ would see his team needed threes, he would make them!

Kobe blatantly copied MJ's shooting form which is picture perfect.

But Kobe can never ever copy MJ's athleticism. At times, MJ got up almost 2 feet in Air to shoot his triple clutch hanging jumpers with very soft release. Kobe can never do that even in his wet dreams.

It's amazing how good a shooter Michael became as he got older. People say Kobe is a much better long-range shooter. He probably is. But he's certainly not 'that' much better. I'd give anything to see that Michael against today's competition with today's rules.  Wow!

Kobe's a better shooter from 23 feet and out, but Jordan, by 1991 (age 27-28), was at least as good a shooter as Kobe from 18-22 feet, and in my opinion a clearly better shooter than Kobe from 7-17 feet.

Maybe his physical skills, but his best season stat wise imo was 1988-1989. He won MVP in 1987-1988. Magic Johnson beat him out for the 1988-1989 MVP, so can't complain too much. :)

32.5pts, 8.0reb, 8.0ast, 2.9stls, 0.8blks, 53.8% FG (22x per), 85% FT (9.8x per). Absolutely sick stats.

He didnt win MVP because the Bulls only won 47 games but they pulled together in the playoffs and made it all the way to within 2 wins of the nba finals but lost in the eastern conference finals against the eventual champion pistons. They might have won the series too if Pippen wasnt knocked out in the first minute of Game 6

By the way, Magic's stats that season (1988-89) were pretty good too -- 22.5 ppg at 50.9% FG and 91.1% FT, 12.8 Assists, 7.9 Rebounds, 1.8 Steals and 0.3 Blocks, PER 26.9 (compared to MJ's 31.1). I don't think his stats were better than MJ's but his Lakers won 57 games (10 more than MJ's Bulls)

That Micahel Jordan would really terrorize the NBA today. If you thought his number from that year was xrazy, imagine what it would look like against the league today, as pitiful as it is..
