  • Neeme Järvi is a boss.

  • hate the clarinetist's interpretative 'ideas'

  • is it just me or does the conductor look like he's exhausted after running a couple of miles.

  • Andreas.......

  • I am violist but I played clarinet, and this clarinetist is AMAZING

  • This waltz is magical. So is the entire ballet.

  • Great clarinet solo!

  • Congratulations from Brazil, I hope you here

  • @sanclspbr1 fala português!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • About the note longer than the usual, Andreas made it became magical! Just perfect!

  • Mahtava kappale. Terveisiä sinne Huittulaan :o)

  • This performance is absolutely amazing! But I dislike the note that is held longer than usual by Andreas Ottensamer at 1:42. To me, it tears up the motion of the part that leads back into the main theme. Jarvi's interpretation of this piece, to me, is subpar, but the performance is absolutely outstanding, nonetheless!

  • aw, I was playing this too with my orchestra. I play clarinet but unfortunately I wasn't as good as Andreas Ottensamer <3

  • who is the first chair horn?

  • @grattoas193 It is Hervé Joulain, solo horn at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

  • Hermoso!!

  • hearing things like this make me feel so happy :) music gives life!

  • the clarinet at 0:13 is fantastic!

  • What a freedom Andreas Ottensamer has! Incredible!

  • the clarinetist is HOT!

  • This is a work that you hear so often, but rarely played so well! Wonderful.

  • They move as one organ. That is the most impressive aspect to me.

  • quite stylish. was at this concert- the first piece was Shostakovich 14! wish the philharmoniker would perform bis's (encores) more often

  • Ottensamer's phrasing is AWESOME. and he looks a little like Chris Pine..lol.

  • Yet another conductor wearing a tent on the podium... why do they all insist on doing this?! Put on some tails for god's sake!

Another lovely recording of this piece tho :P

  • @atomicmrpelly

    Traditional Conductor dress

  • @PianoKwanMan Well then I guess I agree with Mahler on the subject of tradition!

  • @atomicmrpelly The size of the conductor make perhaps him to look a little better . He is rather thick!!The music however is lovely and well performed.

  • @atomicmrpelly Speaking as a conductor, the Nehru jacket is actually a lot less obtrusive than tails. The Nehru has less "moving parts"- so the conductor's movement is obstructed much less than with tails (and there is much less extraneous visual noise). It may seem like some sort of weird "fad", but the Nehru is actually preferable to many conductors for many practical reasons! Cheers!

  • @ctfamily40

I'm sorry but I'm also a conductor and I just disagree completely! If you are concerned about comfort then go on stage in your dressing gown and slippers! The instrumentalists ought to be exerting themselves far more than the conductor (Dudamels aside) and they manage just fine!

And a white shirt is not visually distracting in the least, it draws your attention to the conductor's centre and reflects light onto his face. That's why white tie & tails has remained popular for so long!

  • @atomicmrpelly Different strokes, I suppose! Do you really think the Nehru is too informal, though? I have never heard that opinion before, actually! But we digress...the performance is wonderful, regardless of the attire. If I could dress in tails and be half the musician Jarvi is, I would- and if I could dress in a Nehru jacket and be half the musician Jarvi is, I would too.

  • @ctfamily40 Not informal, it just looks awful! Apart from anything it isn't meant to be black, it comes from India and would normally be pale or brightly coloured. And it exaggerates even the slightest belly. Only person I've seen make it look acceptable was Esa-Pekka Salonen.

But you're right, lets not fall out over it!

  • BRAVO! I feel wanna dance! ♥♥♥

  • really? i love the BPO but this phrasing is really too much overdone here. rubatos are taken way too excessively

  • simply gorgeous!

  • SUCH A WONDERFUL PHRASING, PARTICULARLY FROM CLARINET AND FLUTE PARTS! :) Berliner Philharmoniker NEVER DISAPPOINTS ME :)

  • ケリー様やぁ

  • marvellous as ever.

    Superb woodwind and horns

  • What different dynamic! I really liked.

  • Ahh, those horns sound perfect!

  • bravo!

  • Bravissimi! :-)

  • Andreas Ottensamer and Emmanuel Pahud in the same video... Someone rescue me! <3

  • :)bravo!:)

  • bravo!
