It is called the "Gentlemen's Agreement" to which importers (and domestics although few) limit their production motorcycles to 186mph (actual not indicated as we accept 8% error of speedo). There are a few of each manufacturers line-ups that can exceed that speed with 5th gear emulators, ignition kills and speedo mods (IE unplug that bia..)
@nwj77 have you seen the fast bikes series with these guys? they know how to corner, don't know who is riding this one but in the other series they had superbike riders such as Rob Frost and Shakey Byrne riding for them, they know how corner a motorcycle.

@surefire1986 not to be rude but the area that i live in has only had like 3 motorcycle deaths in 2 years. all 3 were sport bike and all 3 were riding recklessly and no other vehicles were involved. now there has been a few accidents involving cars and trucks but most of the ones i here about are at stop lights and stuff going at a vary low speed. if your worried about not being seen get a loud brightly colored bike like something yellow or orange.

@DuraMaXXDean the reason you see the white line turn solid is your brain has a 'refresh' rate of around 26fps, the camer has a much higher refresh rate, so it can capture things in greater detail at speed.

I have 1 problem with this video. He says the R1 is doing 190. Yes it may have been doing 190 when he had the throttle pinned wide open but you can clearly see him relax his wrist a good 2 seconds before the busa overtakes. You can also hear the engine slowing down if you listen carefully. At 190mph that bike could easily lose 20mph in 2 seconds just from the engine naturally slowing the bike down. So as far as I'm concerned the busa wasn't going any faster than the R1 was.

The hayabusa was much faster of course. However, the guy on the R1 let go of the gas (right before the hayabusa overtakes. Everyone who has driven 190mph on a race bike and has let go of the gas at that speed, with that much rpm, knows how hard it will lose speed on rpm and wind. So at the moment the hayabusa really passes, the R1 isn't close to 190. You can see the bike 'dive' into it's front shocks as well. Still *** fast though..

My busa kills my mates R1s Ninjas etc at anywhere over 200km/h...its just pulls away and leaves them in the distance....It really is just like the video... the busa is an awesome bike!!! That busa zoomed past right when the R1 was startng to change lanes. If the Busa would have clipped him, I'm very sure the results would not have been pretty!!
They're limited at 186 now (first couple years weren't) but the speedo is off so at 186 you're really doing about 175...........I have a first Gen, 2'nd Gen's are sick !!

Someone probably already mentioned this but the R1 was drifting slowly into the right lane as the Busa passed. You can see the other rider compensate a little bit. Shit, at 200mph, that would have been ugly for both! In all fairness, I guess when you're going 190 mph, you aren't really worried about anyone coming up behind you.
The busa is a great bike ( had 4 ) but , just got my first 12r and its actually a better bike !!. Not as comfy over big miles but its bloody fast and turns better . Have to say though , the busa got more looks .

the agreed speed limit for bikes is 186mph this came about because the orignal busa could hit 205 mph various road safety groups were in uproar and called for high performance bikes to be banned so the japs came up with the 186 speed limit to appease the road safety groups! the rsgs argued that if some one makes a 205mph bike this year next year its rival makes a 210mph

@ions82 stock ones shouldnt, all bikes are limited nowdays, now even if you kick me in the but i cant remember to what speed are they limited... but with governor removed and few tweaks it should do 215 no problem, moded busas can do over 250 miles an hour. i havent been folowing much in the last year or so, but even then there was a documentary on youtube how someone was going 256 mph on a moded busa...

I have 1 problem with this video. He says the R1 is doing 190. Yes it may have been doing 190 when he had the throttle pinned wide open but you can clearly see him relax his wrist a good 2 seconds before the busa overtakes. You can also hear the engine slowing down if you listen carefully. At 190mph that bike could easily lose 20mph in 2 seconds just from the engine naturally slowing the bike down. So as far as I'm concerned the busa wasn't going any faster than the R1 was.

The hayabusa was much faster of course. However, the guy on the R1 let go of the gas (right before the hayabusa overtakes. Everyone who has driven 190mph on a race bike and has let go of the gas at that speed, with that much rpm, knows how hard it will lose speed on rpm and wind. So at the moment the hayabusa really passes, the R1 isn't close to 190. You can see the bike 'dive' into it's front shocks as well. Still *** fast though..

My busa kills my mates R1s Ninjas etc at anywhere over 200km/h...its just pulls away and leaves them in the distance....It really is just like the video... the busa is an awesome bike!!! everyone who says the busa has bad handling is an idiot wen people put the fat tires and extensions on them yes the handling is terrible but stock suspension hayabusas do not have bad handling obviously uv never riden one and just say that bc everyone seems to think that they cant turn cuz they are heavier the happen to have very good handling for there weight not far off from a 1000

Someone probably already mentioned this but the R1 was drifting slowly into the right lane as the Busa passed. You can see the other rider compensate a little bit. Shit, at 200mph, that would have been ugly for both! In all fairness, I guess when you're going 190 mph, you aren't really worried about anyone coming up behind you.

the agreed speed limit for bikes is 186mph this came about because the orignal busa could hit 205 mph various road safety groups were in uproar and called for high performance bikes to be banned so the japs came up with the 186 speed limit to appease the road safety groups! the rsgs argued that if some one makes a 205mph bike this year next year its rival makes a 210mph

you can clearly see the r1 rider lay off the throttle at about 160 mph then the busa flies by 180-190 then the r1 floors it again stupid video plus the r1 is faster to 160 better at handling and breaking R1 forever im getting one soon!

@ions82 stock ones shouldnt, all bikes are limited nowdays, now even if you kick me in the but i cant remember to what speed are they limited... but with governor removed and few tweaks it should do 215 no problem, moded busas can do over 250 miles an hour. i havent been folowing much in the last year or so, but even then there was a documentary on youtube how someone was going 256 mph on a moded busa...

they are limited to 300kph or [~186mph]. though, you can remove the limiter [like you said] & hit ~200 or faster for sure. i think the new record is in the 260's [mph] now.
