I don't know if Barry was just being incredibly sarcastic like he normally is but I agree that no matter how bat shit crazy someone's ideas are he/she should still be able to debate them in a civilized way.
@stephenTcartwright I didn't say you were racist, I made a comparison that racists and bigots often say they are super intelligent and prove themselves not to be; anyone who brags about how intelligent they think they are usually isn't and has deep emotional issues. Although I notice you didn't get the point, so what does that say about you? Coupled with the fact you made a fair few assumptions about me based on only two posts....and well, the insults say everything we need to know about you.
Charlie Brooker - inarticulate mouthpiece for the left. Bringing street cred to cultural Marxism. I'm not a BNP supporter myself but at least they take a stand against multiculturalism and Islam. Charlie wants us all to become extinct - well done mate, keep up it up you blabbermouth chav.
@Hereticalable Street crimes rely on witnesses, so there is bound to be misidentification, worth noting is that "black" meant non-white in terms of the crime stats; which includes all sorts of people. If you had bothered to read what I put you would have understood that, & understood that my comment was in response to a cretin posting what he thought were criminal convictions for black people in London...which were wrong, didn't take into account repeat offenders, unsolved crimes & acquitals.
@Hereticalable 1% of England & Wales' black population are in prison, that's 12% of the prison population....which leaves 88% not black, those are the stats, not sure which ones you were pompously misappropriating.
Are the bnp not hardline enough for you? What exactly are you getting in a tizz about? Are you intimating black people commit crime genetically, or just getting on your soapbox in the name of what you think is justified racism?
@Hereticalable As for your little rant about Brooker being a "cultural Marxist" and "mouthpiece for the left" do shut up...most of Britain hate the bnp from left to right, young to old, male and female. For someone who claims he isn't a bnp supporter you certainly seem to be sticking up for them. You really haven't got a clue and sound like a complete idiot squawking about something you don't understand.
@whoareyapauldunn Thanks, although to be fair anyone can demolish these idiots because they shun fact, decency, morals, intelligence and any semblance of an argument in favour of their bigoted, soapbox hatred pukings.
Wow! Edgy and controversial stuff! Fancy... "having a go" at Nick Griffin!!!! Next they'll be saying that David Cameron is a "posh person" or that Adolf Hitler was a "bad man." It is this type of cutting-edge satyr - challenging injustice, nepotism and the abuse of power - that makes British television programmes so great and an exemplar to the rest of the world! Love the comedy "mockney" accent. What about targeting the bankers next Charlie? "That RBS boss is a bit fat... etc."
@38dragoon38 Whoosh. Straight over your head. Screenwipe is, believe it or not, about what's happened on TV. This happened so he did a piece on it. Also, it's satire, not satyr. One is a form of ridiculing through exaggeration and sarcasm, the other is a mythical being.
nick griffin looked like he was ready to crawl under the table and lick that black woman's shoes, or start begging to kiss her ass during this show. really pathetic stuff.
@DayDreamAscent Well, your whole "point" is stymied by the fact that you are talking about ARRESTS rather than convictions....biiiig difference. This was proven wrong ages ago, all it showed was that the Police proceed against black men in those proportions of crimes, mainly due to false identifications. Any other reasons you can come up with for why you want to hate black people?
@goldentony111 So the arrests for gun and knife crime are just due to the police being racist then? Ever lived in a deprived urban area in Britain? One of the ethnically flavoured ghettos we have due to a zero assimilation policy? Which ethnic group has the highest proportion of people in prison in Britain? Whites? Go and look it up...let's see per capita who's being convinced and sentenced shall we?
@DayDreamAscent Race This is more likely to be due to wealth as Black Carribeans tend to be on the bottom of society, thus are more likely to become entrenched in criminal behaviour
@DayDreamAscent nope. those statistics are skewed by two things. one is that the police are racist, and more blacks are prosecuted than whites in the same position, and the second is that black people tend to be poorer, and are therefore more likely to turn to crime. the fact is that those crimes really just prove that there is still a long way to go before our society is actually equal
@DayDreamAscent Well there are about 3 times as many Black people under the poverty line than ethnically British people. Plus Black people and other foreign ethnicities that are poor tend to be more commonly living in urban areas, where British people under the poverty line are relatively equally dispersed through the country.
This means that these people are both in a situation that would most likely push them to crime, and they are in urban populations where violent crime is more feasible.
@DayDreamAscent Have you modelled these statistics against affluence? Because if crimes are more likely to be committed by those who are poorer, and people who are poorer tend to have grown up in poorer areas, and people who grow up in poor areas tend to be black then you will see the same statistics apply to blacks. However this is a correlation not an interaction - it means that it is being poor that is the cause of crime not the colour of your skin.
@DayDreamAscent Perhaps you should also run these facts against statistics of how many of these criminals also come from deprived backgrounds. A generation of Brits may not truly understand it, but we have not long passed over inequality and racism; in fact, in some ways we still haven't. Immigrants will almost invariably enter underprivileged situations at first, and whilst social mobility has come a long way, first and second generation immigrants are rarely going to be affluent off the bat.
@DayDreamAscent The cultures which many young immigrants enter are not positive and can be difficult to get out of, especially when people like Nick Griffin, and, sadly, you, are stereotyping them and ingraining the status quo. I don't think that every street thug is a victim of circumstance, some are just barbarians, but I saw plenty of whites in the London riots, and I've only ever been harassed by whites. I just don't get how you can think skin colour has any effect on criminality.
Well, there have been myriad comments addressing your concern, so perhaps you would like to explain the disproportionate number of crimes committed by males, in contrast with females?
You can use the fact that the statistical difference between male and female crime rates is far greater than the statistical difference between black and non-black crime rates as an incentive for your research
@DayDreamAscent The problem with that argument is look behind why those facts may be. A much higher number of black families live in poverty and in communities where crime is already rife.
@binstig Poverty isn't an excuse to commit crime. Please do not enable criminals by saying that 'Because they are surrounded by crime, it's bound to happen.' Every one has the power to say no. I for one, will be leaving Britain when I have enough money to do so, as it has fallen into descent.
@goldentony111 I do Indeed, if you can come up with the magical sum of £500,000 I will be out of your hair once I have completed my Phd. You, on the other hand, can stick around to watch the politicians figure out how to stop people killing the rich because of the massive inequality in your country.
@stephenTcartwright Firstly, you aren't in my hair, the most I can offer you is mild pity. Your imaginary PHD claims don't impress me, most racists and bigots claim to be super intelligent; the average goon on a hate march or demo seems to tell a different story though. I live in London and am 35; so both your assumptions are wrong....I'm well aware of what's going on...the answer will never be to resort to hatred and racism or the bnp though. Not sure what your non-point was but hey ho.
@goldentony111 Oh, and I am from one of those 'deprived' area's, so don't think I'm talking from an ivory tower. I'm quite aware of the pressures place upon people in my area, and a substantially large amount of people managed to make it in life. Where exactly is it that you emerged from? Are you a fair weather liberal like oh so many at uni? Or have you tasted the spice of life?
We like to simplify things, and to simplify democracy will only result in anti-democratic behaviour. An honest democracy promotes the idea of the collective right to not allow a wanker to speak. There is a fine line between loving and hating, and by allowing Nick Griffin to speak we are creating a figure who we love to hate. The ice between that and hating to love is a slippery one indeed.
@muffmanmuff Because it's not the same as simply not watching something you don't want to, this is about the fundamental questions of politics, democracy, freedom of speech, incitement to hatred and defending everything that makes Britain great from idiotic oafs who hate gays, women, non-whites, foreigners & anyone who disagrees with them. It's because of public apathy that they got seats in European parliament from the lowest voter turnout.
@muffmanmuff Re-read what I put, I pointed out that these facets were what was being questioned. Although now you mention it the bnp do represent a challenge to freedom of speech and democracy. Read their manifesto; no right to protest punishable by jail, chain gangs, penal colonies, slave labour, gagging of the media, banning of the arts, exile of all Muslims...the list goes on. It's a complete challenge to everything Britain treasures and holds dear.
@goldentony111 okay then: how are the 'facets' of free speech and democracy being questioned? (by the way, the only things you mention that are actually in their manifesto are chain gangs and penal colonies, neither or which are relevant in a debate about free speech or democracy)
@muffmanmuff They are all mentioned in the manifesto, I suggest you go back and have a look. You don't think it's undemocratic or against freedom of speech to block third party literature, the right to protest, to enforce slave labour, gag the media, ban the arts (under the vague term "degrading arts") and deport Muslims then? Let's not forget their charming policy last year of deporting all non-whites with a bribe of £50k too, removed when they lost the court case and had to allow non-whites.
@goldentony111 'democracy' is government by the will of the people. how does a penal colony impair the ability of the people to influence the UK's decision-making? it's basically a prison on an island. (i read through the manifesto 30 minutes ago btw. on which page is reference made to protest becoming punishable by jail?)
@muffmanmuff Page 41, in fact 40 onwards pretty much sums up what I said. Let's not also forget plans to favour the "white male" over anyone else, the right for everyone to bear arms, the right to hit other people's children, abolition of fair access and human rights organisations, the list goes on with these charming "policies". They even want to abolish the Turner prize & censor TV...great freedom to express yourself there! I take it you had no problem with the other stuff I mentioned?
@goldentony111 just to clarify this arts point of yours: they propose to remove funding that goes to modern arts, which they see as 'degrading' towards traditional british art. this is in no way the 'banning of arts'. lrn2read
@muffmanmuff It is also an absolutely disgusting mess of falsehoods and cherry picked or misinterpreted (and also plain incorrect) statistics. How do they deal with climate change or environment? Reject all research on it; this is the work of psychopaths! I suggest you watch the vid I pointed you towards and get off this vid as you are making a tit of yourself by defending this rabble of minority thugs and bigots. Stop patronising me, learn to read yourself & fuck off.
@muffmanmuff I think you need to look up what democracy is, if you don't think depriving people of the right to express themselves, protest or air their views, silencing media outlets, banning third party literature & stamping out fair access regulators goes against democracy then you need your head examined. I see you are as popular on your channel...clearly a troll who thinks highly of himself but lacks the ability to reason. Lusting after 14 year olds too?? You fit in well with the bnpers.
@goldentony111 i'm not defending the BNP. i'm defending their right to free speech and participation in our political system :) everything you have said about their manifesto is either irrelevant, a half-truth or a total lie (e.g. silencing media outlets and banning third party literature would go against free speech... but the BNP don't plan to do those things). ironically, your apparent desire to silence the BNP (a legitimate political party) smacks of fascism - pretty undemocratic!
@muffmanmuff There is a huge difference between freedom of speech (which Britain can be very proud of) and incitement to hatred. None of it has been irrelevant, it's all a prime example of their own plans at blocking democracy and freedom of speech with their own fascist agenda....look up what fascism is by the way. I haven't lied about anything in the manifesto, I even told you the page number. Simply saying they don't plan to do that when it's in their fucking manifesto is just plain dumb.
@muffmanmuff I'm not trying to silence them either, I want them to speak as they shoot themselves in the foot simply by airing their views. You haven't followed any of this have you? Are you that stupid that even when I show you what is said in the manifesto you say it can't be in it because they say it isn't?? They have a horrid history of lying and deceiving. You've made a tit of yourself.
@muffmanmuff As for chain gangs and penal colonies having no relevance with democracy....I think you should get someone to point out the irony of that comment. Check out my vid on the bnp manifesto and weep.
The Nick Griffin appearance on QT was nothing more than an organised ambush...audience filled to the brim with immigrants etc etc Nick ended up looking like a victim. His views are not on the decline..infact they are on the rise, especially after the recent riots which most of Middle England believes was the fault of Black people. What heightens the threat of the BNP is bourgeois liberals like Paxman and Dimbleby who adore mass-immigration but then retire to their immigrant less areas.
@Dungarth Stop talking utter bullshit, your opinionated drivel had no facts to back it up and was incredibly ignorant as well. Just because you and a couple of moronic skinheads support the bnp that isn't representative of any part of England so don't posit it as fact. The bnp is moribund, amoral, bankrupt and has been losing support all year; they lost 11 of their councillors in the last elections and got no seats in Scotland or Wales. In 30 years the highest they got was 1.8%.
@goldentony111 ..First of all I'm not a BNP supporter so that was a tragic failure on your part, Secondly the fact that they gained 2 MEPs in the last few years would have been considered UNTHINKABLE 10 years ago. The bottom line is there are more people that think the way the BNP do than you think....you can sit there in your bourgeoisie liberal utopia all you want and pretend nobody cares about them but the fact remains that this kind if idea is spreading not just across Britain but Europe..
@Dungarth Grow up you silly little boy, considering you were supporting your little hate idol I think it was a fair assumption. Yes, they got 2 MEPs (both with criminal records) in the lowest voter turnout since records began, they won't keep them though. Now you're making assumptions, how do I represent the bourgeoisie you utter oaf? I'm with the 98% of the public who didn't vote bnp. The idea of misogyny, racism, xenophobia & homophobia is only spreading in your horrid circles.
@goldentony111 ..If you keep accusing me of supporting Nick Griffin you inbred moron I am going to accuse you of being a brain-dead bourgeoisie liberal. If you want to have an adult conversation then do away with the petty name calling, you're making yourself look like a touchy buffoon who has just spilt his ice-cream. The reason I brought up Wilders is that his thoughts are seen as right-wing which is the general feeling amongst Western European nations these days..I advise you to also ...
@Dungarth What petty name calling? I called you an oaf because you are, your ridiculous and ignorant comment about the riots being the fault of black people was far more disgusting; and how do you respond? By calling me an inbred. It's hardly adult is it? Neither is squawking about "tragic failure" because I correctly identified your support for Griffin. Yes, Wilders is right wing, I never disputed right wing politics was popular; there is a huge difference between right and far right though
@goldentony111 ..Actually I'm a UKIP supporter, not a BNP supporter or a Nazi. And I wasn't trying to say that Poland or Finland are fascist states..I was merely pointing out that their version of the ''BNP'' has enjoyed significant success in the past few years particularly in Finland. You seem to be very naive to think all of Britain & Europe are in love with mass-immigration when its simply not true. Infact immigration was the 2nd most important topic after the economy in the last election.
@Dungarth Ha ha, UKIP, the watered down version of the bnp with one policy to get out of Europe while being in Europe to deliver the message. Did I call you a Nazi? A little harsh to say right wing parties abroad are bnp equivalents; & ridiculous. The bnp are far right racists, misogynists, homophobes, xenophobes, idiotic yobs &, yes, have neo Nazis within them....it was set up by a neo Nazi for fucks sake. Your racist views are ignorant & very much in a minority; tantrums won't change that.
@goldentony111 ..I don't hate Black people but I hate the culture that many of them in Europe live in or are surrounded by. Look the knife/gun crime stats speaks for itself..why don't we see the same bloodshed amongst Indians, Chinese or Jews living in Britain? You see..I was talking nice about Jews...hardly a ''Nazi'' concept now isn't it? I'm a realist..I think you need to try and be the same.
@Dungarth You spelt racist wrong, it's not "realist". The classic "I don't hate black people but....". What stats, show me, I imagine it's the stats for arrests rather than convictions. You do see the same bloodshed the world over you utter idiot; it's not genetic for black people to be criminals except in your empty cranium. Take your vile racism somewhere else please, I said fuck off; are you like the typical bnp bigot who doesn't know where he isn't welcome?
@goldentony111 Come on old chap, have you been living under a stone? Why don't you Google ''Gun/Knife crime amongst Blacks in the UK'' to see for yourself. Why do you think operation trident was setup? it was setup to stop black youths killing other black youths. You didn't hear of a same operation for other races now did you? Now again I'm not saying they are all like this at all..but a healthy number are and looking the other way and pretending it doesn't exist is typical of clowns like you
@Dungarth You don't seem to understand much do you? Trident was set up BY black people you idiot & I already pre-empted your bullshit about crime by letting you know that is arrests rather than convictions; it is well known that black people get misidentified a lot. As for your ludicrous claim about the riots being started by black people; you seem to forget there were tons of white people there too. If you dissect your puerile argument it basically suggests black people are innately criminals
@Dungarth I can't believe the nerve you display in positing your guff as fact and then criticising the way I speak when you have been jumping up and down like a petulant toddler since your hooves first hit the enter key. I don't pretend crime doesn't exist, but at the same time I'm not a racist oaf like you looking for reasons to hate black people....and neither are most of Britain; an incredibly tolerant and cosmopolitan nation that despise cunts like you.
@goldentony111 Yes Britain has been incredibly tolerant but that has only come back to bite Britain on the back-side. Its funny, people like you like to sit in cosy Britain and lecture everybody on the ''joys'' of a rainbow coloured Britain but yet you'll never set foot in a country where our guests have come from. Why don't you go and preach your tolerance and equality for gays in Pakistan, Jamaica or Nigeria? The thing is you won't you unwashed hypocrite because YOU KNOW what will happen.
@Dungarth More assumptions about me I see, wasn't it you who originally said I was judging you? Are you enjoying your utter "tragic failure" or something? So far you haven't got a single thing right and are just trying to excuse your racism by saying it's a popular opinion shared by the world when it clearly isn't. "Guests", you dingbat. You are also showing your ignorance (yet again) of the world but even if it weren't true that isn't a reason for Britain to be intolerant morons like you.
@Dungarth It is funny watching you trying to posit baseless opinions as fact but it does make you look even more idiotic when you can't back any of it up and just assume things. The way out is the way you came in, perhaps you would feel better talking with other bigots on a pro bnp vid or a kkk vid or something...and the beauty is you don't have to be intelligent; the majority of them are illiterate drunks so you may come across as the intelligentsia.
@goldentony111 Calm down you freak. I don't think a BNP supporter would lament the "threat" they pose like @Dungarth did in his original comment. Why don't you stop bullying people like they're your straw men and step away from the computer? Go talk to and actively oppose the BNP instead of haranguing people who don't even support them. While you're at it, grab a book and learn what a federal government is. You troll.
@mridenine In your leap to defend this idiotic racist you failed to notice a number of things; firstly, it's my video so if I reply to deliberately hateful & moronic posts that is my right to do so, it's hardly bullying to challenge someone on their racist and hateful views; I didn't ask him to post that bullshit on here so it's hardly haranguing. He got caught out for being an idiot; that's nobody's fault but his own. I know what a federal gov is, that's why I mentioned them you dingbat...
@mridenine ...his claim was that the bnp and its ilk are taking over Europe and I pointed out that the countries he named had federal govs run by a number of parties and not categorically by (or even at all) by far right parties. I think maybe you need to look up what a troll is and also who you are defending...or doesn't it bother you to defend such a disgusting individual? Awww, poor little racist hatemongers, all they need is a cuddle right? Bore off, you're wrong, get over it.
@goldentony111 Well judging by your use of the phrase "federal government" I don't think you know what it means. Basic reading comprehension of his original comment should tell you that they were not necessarily his views, let me help: getting Griffin on to be shouted down by an angry audience did nothing to dissuade his supporters that his beliefs are flawed, they would instead have viewed it skeptically as a "setup". They should have challenged and deconstructed him directly and academically..
@mridenine Of course I know what it means you tool, that's why I used it as an example to show your moronic buddy how the far right doesn't rule the countries he mentioned; they is split between divisions among several parties. "Basic reading comprehension" is your issue, not mine, his belief was clearly that black people are to blame for crime and he even (erroneously) tried to pinpoint Trident as something set up to tackle black people. Don't patronise me either; you ain't superior.
@mridenine Let me help you, everything you have said (just like your moronic buddy) has been based on erroneous assumptions and bullshit; as with him you know the way out right? It's the way you came in, mind your knuckles. The show was the Nick Griffin show, he had ample opportunity to defend himself and couldn't even do that..."I don't know why I said those things". Does that sound intelligent to you, even his own supporters have said he fucked up & he did. Time & again he gets chances.
@goldentony111 ...Middle class morons looking in at those riots might be so idiotic as to believe "blacks" are to blame. But on the whole I agree with you, subscribing to "BurnQuran" and "BNPCrusade" channels is not normal/mainstream behaviour so I retract any defence of him i proffered. That said grouping together and marginalising UKIP and BNP supporters as one and the same does little to quell the xenopobic paranoia that might make a UKIP supporter (eccentric) become a BNP supporter (mental).
@mridenine I don't lump them in together, ukip aren't anywhere near as bad as the bnp but they are unelectable and basically a xenophobe's wet dream and that's about it. You will find I quite often debate on other channels and vids and make valid points; it all depends on if the person I am addressing is attempting to debate rather than stepping up on the bigot soapbox though. I treat them with the derision they deserve; but I have debated quite reasonably with a lot of people.
@mridenine No, I mean a federal government where the process (as with Switzerland for example) is divided between parties on a coalition level between various cantons and various responsibilities. Look it up if you don't believe me. It's not a multi party state, as each state does not contain multiple parties. If you look up the countries I was referring to they are federal governments, you are either trying to twist my words to some end or not understanding the concept yourself.
@Dungarth Arbitrary polls don't interest me, you can get a poll to say anything you want. Just because immigration may be a hot topic it doesn't mean everyone hates black people like you seem to. I think everyone agrees there needs to be less immigration; that doesn't translate that everyone hates foreigners and therefore supports the bnp. Get a brain and fuck off.
@Dungarth Poland and Finland are democracies and federal governments you clown, not fascist dictatorships like a bnp government would be. Get lost you ignorant oaf, you haven't a clue what you are talking about.
@Dungarth What's Geert Wilders got to do with it, he hates Islam but that's about it as far as agreeing with the nonsense the bnp espouse. I suppose you condone that seeing as you were feeling sorry for Griffin; who was crying he had no platform and then when got one fucked it up simply by airing his vile views. Most of Europe is either a federal government or fairly middle conservative; so don't posit stuff as fact when you have nothing to back it up. You know the way out right?
@KungfuCow5 Yeah, but only the BNP, not the Nazi Party thats wrong, but I don't see why people bitch so much just because one says they support BNP then everyone goes hating on them..
The BNP are a product of New Labour’s failed immigration policies. The “Official” figure they let into the UK was over 4Million. It is of course more likely 10 Million. If you vote Labour then you are voting for the BNP. Just as you are responsible for the thousands of deaths in Afganistan & Iraq. Shame on you all!
@digger65uk if the BNP rose in response to New Labour's immigration policy as you suggest then surely voting for labour is voting against the BNP. What you are saying is the same as saying voting for Labour is voting for the Tories. Before patronising people's voting decisions please get your logic right. PS I am not a labour voter, although I am going to assume you read either the Daily Mail or the Express
@buggedoutdj What a strange and outdated comment to make. You sound like you are stuck in 1982. I read whatever newspaper happens to be in front of me. Now who is the one patronising? At 46 I can form my own judements without being influenced by colums in a paricular newspaper. The logic I am trying to convey is there...just read between the lines, its not hard. New Labour created the BNP!
The one thing I didn't like on QT was that when he kept banging on about "native Britons", no one pointed out toi him that the English are an immigrant race too, having only beenin britain for just over 1500 years (the natives having arrived at least 500,000 years before that).
@icemanisdangerous That's a common myth. If an idea is discredited and stands on false information there is NO reason to hear it in a democracy. It's the same raison d'etre why we don't allow creationism to be taught.
Democracy and freespeech does mean society has to spend time constantly placating irrational beliefs. You don't have to abdicate thinking and adopted a US like 'zero tolerance' or carte Blanche policy where we allow people like wesbro baptists, Britain is a smarter society.
@CmdrTobs LOL Britain likes to think it's a smarter society but it really isn't, and that is highlighted by the way we welcome all of americas multi national corperations and adopt their culture and fight in their wars.
Who says what is credible and isn't credible to discuss? In a true democratic society the thoughts, beliefs and opinions of the society should be represented and discussed. As soon as you tell people what they can and can't discuss you are on the road to dictatorship.
@icemanisdangerous I don't understand what you said. Either I'm stupid or you are. I lean towards the latter owing to you being someone making a political point on Youtube.
@MrGrinningManiac Because you don't understand the point being made I'm stupid? Fucking hell your logic is more retarded than Sarah Palin's child. I'm not surprised you don't understand what with you being so simple. Twat.
@icemanisdangerous We are a smarter society, not smarter people however and that's no slight against Americans.
"As soon as you tell people what they can and can't discuss you are on the road to dictatorship" - This is simply not the case. We have always had it explicitly & implicitly and yet we have progressed and aren't dictatorships. The BNP advocate removing the rights of some and that is an argument that really does not need to be heard on all platforms.
@CmdrTobs No you are wrong. And weather we are in a dictatorship or not is a point of view. From my point of view we are in a two party dictatorship where both parties aren't different. Democracy in this country is an illusion.
@icemanisdangerous And that won't change by giving every irrational view a platform.
Modern Freedom of speech came out the rationalism of the Scientific renaissance. Within science every rational view is permissible, every idea has to EARN it's right to reach a certain platform.
You can't utter a world about creationism in the Royal society, but that's NOT squashing freedom of speech. The idea has not earned the right to spoken in those platform. EVERY society does this formally/informally.
@CmdrTobs Popular speech doesn't need protecting. Unpopular speech does. I don't care for your psycho babble reasonings and excuses for selecting which speech should or shouldn't be heard. You can't understand society and it's problems by ignoring the beliefs of others. Only then can you understand how badly educated and biggoted society is. Your hear no evil see no evil speak no evil view on freedom of speech is the exact problem. I'd rather see societies evils and act accordingly.
@icemanisdangerous "psycho babble"- It's called critical thinking. All ideas don't get to be heard in all forums. You can't go into MIT and give a talk on 'flat earth', and them banning you from talking about flat earths IS NOT repressing free speech. The idea has been discussed and thrown out already.
Sure you can hold those silly beliefs and call your own privately funded flat earth conferences but don't look surprised when the police break up your pro flat earth rally.
@icemanisdangerous owww, how sharp. Amazing how this has triggered so much personal outrage that you've thrown ad hominems, you've got to be unstable, right?
Since you've gotten all riled up and thrown your toys out of your pram I'll leave it at that.
I do love the irony that your supposedly arguing for free speech yet threw ad Hominems.
As the final truly offensive swear word that isn't a racial slur, the C-word should be used sparingly as it is losing its impact. In this instance, it was more justified than ever.
I think it's unfair to call the BNP fascist. Fascism represents a kind of dynamism and joined-up economic policy that is missing from that bunch of mouth-breathing racists. C*nts will do just fine though.
Couldn't agree more. The QT audience did seem quite unfair to the guy. Not that I like him, far from it. If it were up to him I'd be deported back to my "country of origin" because I have a funny name. If not that then imprisoned for being Bi.
Obviously Nick Griffin was pretty slimy but I found the whole thing a bit sanctimonious, the hand-picked "multicultural Britain" audience (in reality 9 out of 10 British people are white, that's more than racist old America, not 1 out of 10 like the audience here), Baroness Warsi and Bonnie Greer were a bit irritating (Greer's claim that Ancient Rome was a multicultural society with black people in it - yeah, I bet they had black senators and governers back then and they weren't all just slaves)
@graemeoliver84 even if all the audience was white, they still would have found him disgusting. Griffin is hated by most of the population - by his own admission! Attempts to claim that Griffin's reception was due to a "handpicked" audience is bullshit.
@graemeoliver84 Why would you find Greer's claim 'irritating' when Ancient Rome did, in fact, have a black Emperor? By the way, there were black/mixed race people who had high statuses, back then, too.
@sappermawson (The Severan Dynasty) Septimius Severus, between 193-235 AD I think.
His/their features would not have been typically sub-Saharan but he/they would have had a dark complexion; dark enough for various pictures, busts and statues of him showing him to be black.
@printscreen000 I don't know why people find that surprising. They did not have the same racial views as now. Sure they were racist but it wasn't as along the same skin tone lines as modern day racism. A pale barbarian Gaul/Celt trader would likely receive more scorn than a Negro trader walking through Rome.
Although, on further reading down, I think tarfun was making a valid point - the QT with Nick Griffin was an insult-throwing match, not a discussion. And as the video points out, that IS undemocratic. It doesn't even matter whether Griffin deserved that kind of treatment or not - it's just an unproductive way to run a discussion. The constructive way to deal with people like him is to let them try to explain and justify their views, at which point it becomes obvious how contradictory they are.
@boiledelephant I actually agreed that they should have let him speak, nothing hangs him more than his own words. My issue was with him saying that Bonnie Greer had no right to be there, she had every right to be there as she is a regular panelist and social commentator on programmes such as this; his veiled issue was that the only reason she was there was because she was black and we should have pandered to Griffin by not allowing her. I agree with your comment, his comment wasn't the same.
@boiledelephant yeah i agree (dunno about tarfun, i agree with your message); also that whole ordeal caused pity for griffin from undecided people who decided to support him as a result. it was a disgrace of a program.
@SethHesio I know, it's so obvious she only got made a peer because she's Asian, Muslim and female (she's only in her 30s, isn't that a bit young to be a Baroness?)
@graemeoliver84 the youngest is a bloke, who is 34. The youngest female Life Peer is 39. Warsi is 40. Why cannot some people simply accept that someone's status is due to dedicated hard work throughout thier lives, and not the colour of their skin or thier religion?
what music was playing in the background?

Hereticalable 3 weeks ago
@Hereticalable Street crimes rely on witnesses, so there is bound to be misidentification, worth noting is that "black" meant non-white in terms of the crime stats; which includes all sorts of people. If you had bothered to read what I put you would have understood that, & understood that my comment was in response to a cretin posting what he thought were criminal convictions for black people in London...which were wrong, didn't take into account repeat offenders, unsolved crimes & acquitals.
goldentony111 3 weeks ago
@Hereticalable 1% of England & Wales' black population are in prison, that's 12% of the prison population....which leaves 88% not black, those are the stats, not sure which ones you were pompously misappropriating.
Are the bnp not hardline enough for you? What exactly are you getting in a tizz about? Are you intimating black people commit crime genetically, or just getting on your soapbox in the name of what you think is justified racism?
goldentony111 3 weeks ago
@Hereticalable As for your little rant about Brooker being a "cultural Marxist" and "mouthpiece for the left" do shut up...most of Britain hate the bnp from left to right, young to old, male and female. For someone who claims he isn't a bnp supporter you certainly seem to be sticking up for them. You really haven't got a clue and sound like a complete idiot squawking about something you don't understand.

"That RBS boss is a bit fat... etc."

ok, to all the anti-BNP people (I'm not a BNP supporter), I just want your comments on this.
Twelve per cent of London’s men are black.
But 54 per cent of the street crimes committed by men in London are by black men
46 per cent of the knife crimes committed by men in London are by black men.
More than 50% of the gun crimes are committed by black men.
So while you think shouting "racist!" is the ultimate argument winner, isn't it about time you addressed those FACTS too?
DayDreamAscent 1 month ago
@DayDreamAscent Well, your whole "point" is stymied by the fact that you are talking about ARRESTS rather than convictions....biiiig difference. This was proven wrong ages ago, all it showed was that the Police proceed against black men in those proportions of crimes, mainly due to false identifications. Any other reasons you can come up with for why you want to hate black people?
goldentony111 1 month ago 11
@goldentony111 So the arrests for gun and knife crime are just due to the police being racist then? Ever lived in a deprived urban area in Britain? One of the ethnically flavoured ghettos we have due to a zero assimilation policy? Which ethnic group has the highest proportion of people in prison in Britain? Whites? Go and look it up...let's see per capita who's being convinced and sentenced shall we?
Hereticalable 3 weeks ago
@DayDreamAscent Race This is more likely to be due to wealth as Black Carribeans tend to be on the bottom of society, thus are more likely to become entrenched in criminal behaviour
munnosable 1 month ago
@DayDreamAscent nope. those statistics are skewed by two things. one is that the police are racist, and more blacks are prosecuted than whites in the same position, and the second is that black people tend to be poorer, and are therefore more likely to turn to crime. the fact is that those crimes really just prove that there is still a long way to go before our society is actually equal
morrisrussellwillis 1 month ago
@DayDreamAscent Well there are about 3 times as many Black people under the poverty line than ethnically British people. Plus Black people and other foreign ethnicities that are poor tend to be more commonly living in urban areas, where British people under the poverty line are relatively equally dispersed through the country.
This means that these people are both in a situation that would most likely push them to crime, and they are in urban populations where violent crime is more feasible.
Konversekid 1 month ago
@DayDreamAscent Have you modelled these statistics against affluence? Because if crimes are more likely to be committed by those who are poorer, and people who are poorer tend to have grown up in poorer areas, and people who grow up in poor areas tend to be black then you will see the same statistics apply to blacks. However this is a correlation not an interaction - it means that it is being poor that is the cause of crime not the colour of your skin.
Wulfyn99 1 month ago
@DayDreamAscent Perhaps you should also run these facts against statistics of how many of these criminals also come from deprived backgrounds. A generation of Brits may not truly understand it, but we have not long passed over inequality and racism; in fact, in some ways we still haven't. Immigrants will almost invariably enter underprivileged situations at first, and whilst social mobility has come a long way, first and second generation immigrants are rarely going to be affluent off the bat.
simonstanier 1 month ago
@DayDreamAscent The cultures which many young immigrants enter are not positive and can be difficult to get out of, especially when people like Nick Griffin, and, sadly, you, are stereotyping them and ingraining the status quo. I don't think that every street thug is a victim of circumstance, some are just barbarians, but I saw plenty of whites in the London riots, and I've only ever been harassed by whites. I just don't get how you can think skin colour has any effect on criminality.
simonstanier 1 month ago
@DayDreamAscent
Well, there have been myriad comments addressing your concern, so perhaps you would like to explain the disproportionate number of crimes committed by males, in contrast with females?
You can use the fact that the statistical difference between male and female crime rates is far greater than the statistical difference between black and non-black crime rates as an incentive for your research
p3rs0nan0ngrata 3 weeks ago
@DayDreamAscent The problem with that argument is look behind why those facts may be. A much higher number of black families live in poverty and in communities where crime is already rife.
binstig 3 weeks ago
@binstig Poverty isn't an excuse to commit crime. Please do not enable criminals by saying that 'Because they are surrounded by crime, it's bound to happen.' Every one has the power to say no. I for one, will be leaving Britain when I have enough money to do so, as it has fallen into descent.

The ice between that and hating to love is a slippery one indeed.

muffmanmuff 3 months ago
@muffmanmuff Because it's not the same as simply not watching something you don't want to, this is about the fundamental questions of politics, democracy, freedom of speech, incitement to hatred and defending everything that makes Britain great from idiotic oafs who hate gays, women, non-whites, foreigners & anyone who disagrees with them. It's because of public apathy that they got seats in European parliament from the lowest voter turnout.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 how exactly do the BNP represent a challenge to 'freedom of speech' or 'democracy'?
muffmanmuff 3 months ago
@muffmanmuff Re-read what I put, I pointed out that these facets were what was being questioned. Although now you mention it the bnp do represent a challenge to freedom of speech and democracy. Read their manifesto; no right to protest punishable by jail, chain gangs, penal colonies, slave labour, gagging of the media, banning of the arts, exile of all Muslims...the list goes on. It's a complete challenge to everything Britain treasures and holds dear.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 okay then: how are the 'facets' of free speech and democracy being questioned? (by the way, the only things you mention that are actually in their manifesto are chain gangs and penal colonies, neither or which are relevant in a debate about free speech or democracy)
muffmanmuff 3 months ago
@muffmanmuff They are all mentioned in the manifesto, I suggest you go back and have a look. You don't think it's undemocratic or against freedom of speech to block third party literature, the right to protest, to enforce slave labour, gag the media, ban the arts (under the vague term "degrading arts") and deport Muslims then? Let's not forget their charming policy last year of deporting all non-whites with a bribe of £50k too, removed when they lost the court case and had to allow non-whites.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 'democracy' is government by the will of the people. how does a penal colony impair the ability of the people to influence the UK's decision-making? it's basically a prison on an island. (i read through the manifesto 30 minutes ago btw. on which page is reference made to protest becoming punishable by jail?)
muffmanmuff 3 months ago
@muffmanmuff Page 41, in fact 40 onwards pretty much sums up what I said. Let's not also forget plans to favour the "white male" over anyone else, the right for everyone to bear arms, the right to hit other people's children, abolition of fair access and human rights organisations, the list goes on with these charming "policies". They even want to abolish the Turner prize & censor TV...great freedom to express yourself there! I take it you had no problem with the other stuff I mentioned?
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 just to clarify this arts point of yours: they propose to remove funding that goes to modern arts, which they see as 'degrading' towards traditional british art. this is in no way the 'banning of arts'. lrn2read
muffmanmuff 3 months ago
@muffmanmuff It is also an absolutely disgusting mess of falsehoods and cherry picked or misinterpreted (and also plain incorrect) statistics. How do they deal with climate change or environment? Reject all research on it; this is the work of psychopaths! I suggest you watch the vid I pointed you towards and get off this vid as you are making a tit of yourself by defending this rabble of minority thugs and bigots. Stop patronising me, learn to read yourself & fuck off.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@muffmanmuff I think you need to look up what democracy is, if you don't think depriving people of the right to express themselves, protest or air their views, silencing media outlets, banning third party literature & stamping out fair access regulators goes against democracy then you need your head examined. I see you are as popular on your channel...clearly a troll who thinks highly of himself but lacks the ability to reason. Lusting after 14 year olds too?? You fit in well with the bnpers.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 i'm not defending the BNP. i'm defending their right to free speech and participation in our political system :) everything you have said about their manifesto is either irrelevant, a half-truth or a total lie (e.g. silencing media outlets and banning third party literature would go against free speech... but the BNP don't plan to do those things). ironically, your apparent desire to silence the BNP (a legitimate political party) smacks of fascism - pretty undemocratic!
muffmanmuff 3 months ago
@muffmanmuff There is a huge difference between freedom of speech (which Britain can be very proud of) and incitement to hatred. None of it has been irrelevant, it's all a prime example of their own plans at blocking democracy and freedom of speech with their own fascist agenda....look up what fascism is by the way. I haven't lied about anything in the manifesto, I even told you the page number. Simply saying they don't plan to do that when it's in their fucking manifesto is just plain dumb.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@muffmanmuff I'm not trying to silence them either, I want them to speak as they shoot themselves in the foot simply by airing their views. You haven't followed any of this have you? Are you that stupid that even when I show you what is said in the manifesto you say it can't be in it because they say it isn't?? They have a horrid history of lying and deceiving. You've made a tit of yourself.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@muffmanmuff As for chain gangs and penal colonies having no relevance with democracy....I think you should get someone to point out the irony of that comment. Check out my vid on the bnp manifesto and weep.
goldentony111 3 months ago
The Nick Griffin appearance on QT was nothing more than an organised ambush...audience filled to the brim with immigrants etc etc Nick ended up looking like a victim. His views are not on the decline..infact they are on the rise, especially after the recent riots which most of Middle England believes was the fault of Black people. What heightens the threat of the BNP is bourgeois liberals like Paxman and Dimbleby who adore mass-immigration but then retire to their immigrant less areas.
Dungarth 3 months ago
@Dungarth Stop talking utter bullshit, your opinionated drivel had no facts to back it up and was incredibly ignorant as well. Just because you and a couple of moronic skinheads support the bnp that isn't representative of any part of England so don't posit it as fact. The bnp is moribund, amoral, bankrupt and has been losing support all year; they lost 11 of their councillors in the last elections and got no seats in Scotland or Wales. In 30 years the highest they got was 1.8%.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 ..First of all I'm not a BNP supporter so that was a tragic failure on your part, Secondly the fact that they gained 2 MEPs in the last few years would have been considered UNTHINKABLE 10 years ago. The bottom line is there are more people that think the way the BNP do than you think....you can sit there in your bourgeoisie liberal utopia all you want and pretend nobody cares about them but the fact remains that this kind if idea is spreading not just across Britain but Europe..
Dungarth 3 months ago

Now you're making assumptions, how do I represent the bourgeoisie you utter oaf? I'm with the 98% of the public who didn't vote bnp. The idea of misogyny, racism, xenophobia & homophobia is only spreading in your horrid circles.

If you want to have an adult conversation then do away with the petty name calling, you're making yourself look like a touchy buffoon who has just spilt his ice-cream. Dungarth 3 months ago
Yes, Wilders is right wing, I never disputed right wing politics was popular; there is a huge difference between right and far right though
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 ..Actually I'm a UKIP supporter, not a BNP supporter or a Nazi. And I wasn't trying to say that Poland or Finland are fascist states..I was merely pointing out that their version of the ''BNP'' has enjoyed significant success in the past few years particularly in Finland. You seem to be very naive to think all of Britain & Europe are in love with mass-immigration when its simply not true. Infact immigration was the 2nd most important topic after the economy in the last election.
Dungarth 3 months ago
@Dungarth Ha ha, UKIP, the watered down version of the bnp with one policy to get out of Europe while being in Europe to deliver the message. Did I call you a Nazi? A little harsh to say right wing parties abroad are bnp equivalents; & ridiculous. The bnp are far right racists, misogynists, homophobes, xenophobes, idiotic yobs &, yes, have neo Nazis within them....it was set up by a neo Nazi for fucks sake. Your racist views are ignorant & very much in a minority; tantrums won't change that.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 ..I don't hate Black people but I hate the culture that many of them in Europe live in or are surrounded by. Take your vile racism somewhere else please, I said fuck off; are you like the typical bnp bigot who doesn't know where he isn't welcome?
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 Come on old chap, have you been living under a stone? Why don't you Google ''Gun/Knife crime amongst Blacks in the UK'' to see for yourself. Now again I'm not saying they are all like this at all..but a healthy number are and looking the other way and pretending it doesn't exist is typical of clowns like you
Dungarth 3 months ago
@Dungarth You don't seem to understand much do you? Trident was set up BY black people you idiot & I already pre-empted your bullshit about crime by letting you know that is arrests rather than convictions; it is well known that black people get misidentified a lot. As for your ludicrous claim about the riots being started by black people; you seem to forget there were tons of white people there too. If you dissect your puerile argument it basically suggests black people are innately criminals
goldentony111 3 months ago
@Dungarth I can't believe the nerve you display in positing your guff as fact and then criticising the way I speak when you have been jumping up and down like a petulant toddler since your hooves first hit the enter key. I don't pretend crime doesn't exist, but at the same time I'm not a racist oaf like you looking for reasons to hate black people....and neither are most of Britain; an incredibly tolerant and cosmopolitan nation that despise cunts like you.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 Yes Britain has been incredibly tolerant but that has only come back to bite Britain on the back-side. Its funny, people like you like to sit in cosy Britain and lecture everybody on the ''joys'' of a rainbow coloured Britain but yet you'll never set foot in a country where our guests have come from. Why don't you go and preach your tolerance and equality for gays in Pakistan, Jamaica or Nigeria? The thing is you won't you unwashed hypocrite because YOU KNOW what will happen.
Dungarth 3 months ago
@Dungarth More assumptions about me I see, wasn't it you who originally said I was judging you? Are you enjoying your utter "tragic failure" or something? So far you haven't got a single thing right and are just trying to excuse your racism by saying it's a popular opinion shared by the world when it clearly isn't. "Guests", you dingbat. You are also showing your ignorance (yet again) of the world but even if it weren't true that isn't a reason for Britain to be intolerant morons like you.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@Dungarth It is funny watching you trying to posit baseless opinions as fact but it does make you look even more idiotic when you can't back any of it up and just assume things. The way out is the way you came in, perhaps you would feel better talking with other bigots on a pro bnp vid or a kkk vid or something...and the beauty is you don't have to be intelligent; the majority of them are illiterate drunks so you may come across as the intelligentsia.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 Calm down you freak. I don't think a BNP supporter would lament the "threat" they pose like @Dungarth did in his original comment. While you're at it, grab a book and learn what a federal government is. You troll.
mridenine 3 months ago
@mridenine In your leap to defend this idiotic racist you failed to notice a number of things; firstly, it's my video so if I reply to deliberately hateful & moronic posts that is my right to do so, it's hardly bullying to challenge someone on their racist and hateful views; I didn't ask him to post that bullshit on here so it's hardly haranguing. He got caught out for being an idiot; that's nobody's fault but his own. I know what a federal gov is, that's why I mentioned them you dingbat...
goldentony111 3 months ago
@mridenine ...his claim was that the bnp and its ilk are taking over Europe and I pointed out that the countries he named had federal govs run by a number of parties and not categorically by (or even at all) by far right parties. I think maybe you need to look up what a troll is and also who you are defending...or doesn't it bother you to defend such a disgusting individual? Awww, poor little racist hatemongers, all they need is a cuddle right? Bore off, you're wrong, get over it.
goldentony111 3 months ago

Don't patronise me either; you ain't superior.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@mridenine Let me help you, everything you have said (just like your moronic buddy) has been based on erroneous assumptions and bullshit; as with him you know the way out right? It's the way you came in, mind your knuckles. The show was the Nick Griffin show, he had ample opportunity to defend himself and couldn't even do that..."I don't know why I said those things". Does that sound intelligent to you, even his own supporters have said he fucked up & he did. Time & again he gets chances.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 ...Middle class morons looking in at those riots might be so idiotic as to believe "blacks" are to blame. But on the whole I agree with you, subscribing to "BurnQuran" and "BNPCrusade" channels is not normal/mainstream behaviour so I retract any defence of him i proffered. That said grouping together and marginalising UKIP and BNP supporters as one and the same does little to quell the xenopobic paranoia that might make a UKIP supporter (eccentric) become a BNP supporter (mental).
mridenine 3 months ago
@mridenine I don't lump them in together, ukip aren't anywhere near as bad as the bnp but they are unelectable and basically a xenophobe's wet dream and that's about it. You will find I quite often debate on other channels and vids and make valid points; it all depends on if the person I am addressing is attempting to debate rather than stepping up on the bigot soapbox though. I treat them with the derision they deserve; but I have debated quite reasonably with a lot of people.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 yes exactly that is not what a federal government is. You mean a multi-party state.
mridenine 3 months ago
@mridenine No, I mean a federal government where the process (as with Switzerland for example) is divided between parties on a coalition level between various cantons and various responsibilities. Look it up if you don't believe me. It's not a multi party state, as each state does not contain multiple parties. If you look up the countries I was referring to they are federal governments, you are either trying to twist my words to some end or not understanding the concept yourself.

@Dungarth You've never been to Glasgow, have you?
doctortehe 3 months ago
@Dungarth Arbitrary polls don't interest me, you can get a poll to say anything you want. Just because immigration may be a hot topic it doesn't mean everyone hates black people like you seem to. I think everyone agrees there needs to be less immigration; that doesn't translate that everyone hates foreigners and therefore supports the bnp. Get a brain and fuck off.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@goldentony111 ..check out recent election results in Finland and in Poland to see this trend growing also.
Dungarth 3 months ago
@Dungarth Poland and Finland are democracies and federal governments you clown, not fascist dictatorships like a bnp government would be. Get lost you ignorant oaf, you haven't a clue what you are talking about.
goldentony111 3 months ago
@Dungarth What's Geert Wilders got to do with it, he hates Islam but that's about it as far as agreeing with the nonsense the bnp espouse. I suppose you condone that seeing as you were feeling sorry for Griffin; who was crying he had no platform and then when got one fucked it up simply by airing his vile views. Most of Europe is either a federal government or fairly middle conservative; so don't posit stuff as fact when you have nothing to back it up. You know the way out right?

mrmadnessguy 4 months ago
The BNP are a product of New Labour’s failed immigration policies. The “Official” figure they let into the UK was over 4Million. It is of course more likely 10 Million. If you vote Labour then you are voting for the BNP. Just as you are responsible for the thousands of deaths in Afganistan & Iraq. Shame on you all!
digger65uk 5 months ago
@digger65uk if the BNP rose in response to New Labour's immigration policy as you suggest then surely voting for labour is voting against the BNP. What you are saying is the same as saying voting for Labour is voting for the Tories. Before patronising people's voting decisions please get your logic right. PS I am not a labour voter, although I am going to assume you read either the Daily Mail or the Express
buggedoutdj 5 months ago
@buggedoutdj What a strange and outdated comment to make. You sound like you are stuck in 1982. I read whatever newspaper happens to be in front of me. Now who is the one patronising? At 46 I can form my own judements without being influenced by colums in a paricular newspaper. The logic I am trying to convey is there...just read between the lines, its not hard. New Labour created the BNP!
digger65uk 5 months ago
@digger65uk Strange and outdated, how so?
buggedoutdj 5 months ago
The one thing I didn't like on QT was that when he kept banging on about "native Britons", no one pointed out toi him that the English are an immigrant race too, having only beenin britain for just over 1500 years (the natives having arrived at least 500,000 years before that).

ThomAitken7 6 months ago
Unfortunately if you are pro democracy and pro freedom of speech you have to let people like Nick Griffin have their say.
icemanisdangerous 6 months ago
@icemanisdangerous That's a common myth. If an idea is discredited and stands on false information there is NO reason to hear it in a democracy. It's the same raison d'etre why we don't allow creationism to be taught.
Democracy and freespeech does mean society has to spend time constantly placating irrational beliefs. You don't have to abdicate thinking and adopted a US like 'zero tolerance' or carte Blanche policy where we allow people like wesbro baptists, Britain is a smarter society.
CmdrTobs 4 months ago
@CmdrTobs LOL Britain likes to think it's a smarter society but it really isn't, and that is highlighted by the way we welcome all of americas multi national corperations and adopt their culture and fight in their wars.
Who says what is credible and isn't credible to discuss? In a true democratic society the thoughts, beliefs and opinions of the society should be represented and discussed. As soon as you tell people what they can and can't discuss you are on the road to dictatorship.
icemanisdangerous 4 months ago
@icemanisdangerous I don't understand what you said. Either I'm stupid or you are. I lean towards the latter owing to you being someone making a political point on Youtube.
MrGrinningManiac 4 months ago
@MrGrinningManiac Because you don't understand the point being made I'm stupid? Fucking hell your logic is more retarded than Sarah Palin's child. I'm not surprised you don't understand what with you being so simple. Twat.
icemanisdangerous 4 months ago
@icemanisdangerous We are a smarter society, not smarter people however and that's no slight against Americans.
"As soon as you tell people what they can and can't discuss you are on the road to dictatorship" - This is simply not the case. We have always had it explicitly & implicitly and yet we have progressed and aren't dictatorships. The BNP advocate removing the rights of some and that is an argument that really does not need to be heard on all platforms.
CmdrTobs 4 months ago
@CmdrTobs No you are wrong. And weather we are in a dictatorship or not is a point of view. From my point of view we are in a two party dictatorship where both parties aren't different. Democracy in this country is an illusion.
icemanisdangerous 4 months ago
@icemanisdangerous And that won't change by giving every irrational view a platform.
Modern Freedom of speech came out the rationalism of the Scientific renaissance. Within science every rational view is permissible, every idea has to EARN it's right to reach a certain platform.
You can't utter a world about creationism in the Royal society, but that's NOT squashing freedom of speech. The idea has not earned the right to spoken in those platform. EVERY society does this formally/informally.
CmdrTobs 4 months ago
@CmdrTobs Popular speech doesn't need protecting. Unpopular speech does. I don't care for your psycho babble reasonings and excuses for selecting which speech should or shouldn't be heard. You can't understand society and it's problems by ignoring the beliefs of others. Only then can you understand how badly educated and biggoted society is. Your hear no evil see no evil speak no evil view on freedom of speech is the exact problem. I'd rather see societies evils and act accordingly.
icemanisdangerous 4 months ago
@icemanisdangerous "psycho babble"- It's called critical thinking. All ideas don't get to be heard in all forums. You can't go into MIT and give a talk on 'flat earth', and them banning you from talking about flat earths IS NOT repressing free speech. The idea has been discussed and thrown out already.
Sure you can hold those silly beliefs and call your own privately funded flat earth conferences but don't look surprised when the police break up your pro flat earth rally.
CmdrTobs 1 month ago
@CmdrTobs Look dickhead I'll sum this up for you even so you can understand it. This is quite a famous old quote....

Take that to your next flat earth rally you moron.

I do love the irony that your supposedly arguing for free speech yet threw ad Hominems.

As the final truly offensive swear word that isn't a racial slur, the C-word should be used sparingly as it is losing its impact. In this instance, it was more justified than ever.
Griffin... what a cunt.
Nogli 6 months ago
I think it's unfair to call the BNP fascist. Fascism represents a kind of dynamism and joined-up economic policy that is missing from that bunch of mouth-breathing racists. C*nts will do just fine though.
jonboyjon1976 7 months ago 2
Couldn't agree more. The QT audience did seem quite unfair to the guy. Not that I like him, far from it. If it were up to him I'd be deported back to my "country of origin" because I have a funny name. If not that then imprisoned for being Bi.
aksquash 8 months ago
Obviously Nick Griffin was pretty slimy but I found the whole thing a bit sanctimonious, the hand-picked "multicultural Britain" audience (in reality 9 out of 10 British people are white, that's more than racist old America, not 1 out of 10 like the audience here), Baroness Warsi and Bonnie Greer were a bit irritating (Greer's claim that Ancient Rome was a multicultural society with black people in it - yeah, I bet they had black senators and governers back then and they weren't all just slaves)
graemeoliver84 9 months ago
@graemeoliver84 even if all the audience was white, they still would have found him disgusting. Griffin is hated by most of the population - by his own admission! Attempts to claim that Griffin's reception was due to a "handpicked" audience is bullshit.
nmfnmompso 9 months ago 4
@graemeoliver84 Why would you find Greer's claim 'irritating' when Ancient Rome did, in fact, have a black Emperor? By the way, there were black/mixed race people who had high statuses, back then, too.

graemeoliver84 6 months ago
@printscreen000 i'm intrigued as to the name of this black emperor. When did he reign?
sappermawson 6 months ago
@sappermawson (The Severan Dynasty) Septimius Severus, between 193-235 AD I think.
His/their features would not have been typically sub-Saharan but he/they would have had a dark complexion; dark enough for various pictures, busts and statues of him showing him to be black.
printscreen000 6 months ago
@printscreen000 I don't know why people find that surprising. They did not have the same racial views as now. Sure they were racist but it wasn't as along the same skin tone lines as modern day racism. A pale barbarian Gaul/Celt trader would likely receive more scorn than a Negro trader walking through Rome.
CmdrTobs 4 months ago
Although, on further reading down, I think tarfun was making a valid point - the QT with Nick Griffin was an insult-throwing match, not a discussion. And as the video points out, that IS undemocratic. It doesn't even matter whether Griffin deserved that kind of treatment or not - it's just an unproductive way to run a discussion. The constructive way to deal with people like him is to let them try to explain and justify their views, at which point it becomes obvious how contradictory they are.
boiledelephant 9 months ago 30
@boiledelephant I actually agreed that they should have let him speak, nothing hangs him more than his own words. My issue was with him saying that Bonnie Greer had no right to be there, she had every right to be there as she is a regular panelist and social commentator on programmes such as this; his veiled issue was that the only reason she was there was because she was black and we should have pandered to Griffin by not allowing her. I agree with your comment, his comment wasn't the same.
goldentony111 9 months ago 16
@boiledelephant lol it was a sarcastic statement about it being non-democratic!

@graemeoliver84 the youngest is a bloke, who is 34. The youngest female Life Peer is 39. Warsi is 40. Why cannot some people simply accept that someone's status is due to dedicated hard work throughout thier lives, and not the colour of their skin or thier religion?
