I nicknamed Hutch Max in 1983. Joe Elliott of Def Leppard discovered me in Alabama on May 15, 1983 while they were on tour in the US promoting the Pyromania album. Mutt Lange who produced Aussie band AC/DC's album brought the Australian band INXS to meet me in June '83 while they were in the US and had some down time. I was 15 at the time and I fell in love with Hutch while we worked on songs performed by INXS.
I took this from a video store I worked at. Well, actually they fired me and I had it at the time, so I just never gave it back. I still have it, but no VHS player to watch it on.
In terms of conveying a particular Zeitgeist, Dogs In Space is one of the most incredible documents we have in Australian culture pertaining to the 80s (and indeed the perception of the 70s).
Michael Hutchence depicted Sam perfectly. The first name of the band was The Ears, the second was Bear Garden, don't know why Ollie didn't get Sam to play himself in the movie, he had every other person in the film to play themselves in the movie.Sam actually played Nick Cave in the movie??? Whatever, the Crystal Ballroom was the best place, showcased the best bands, Oh the memories, St Kilda is now full of yuppies, get me out of here b4 I die
strange and difficult song in expressing sound base of music. a part the sad video..created for its...the song is very kindly and under the keyboard also it's nice to hear during some tones of blues ..sensual
Amazing performance By Michael Hutchence..Never heard of dogs in space, ive been looking for it and cant find it anywhere, So does anyone know where to get a copy?
You can buy it from an Australian retailer JB Hifi. They have mail order on their website. It has been recently re-issued. Me aware of DVD regions though.
@2000sontv when did you buy the record. I bought the soundtrack when it came out in the 80's.. Amazing on some of the things I have from then what they would fetch now. I never sell it though..
Wow. I guess I'm the one who's had too much heroin :) I meant 20 years, not 30. I saw it in '89 while stationed in Okinawa. The base video rental store had it.
@dontknowwotyouwant ... The movie was 'Loosley" based on true events in Richmond (Melbourne) in the late 70's. The actual Movie itself, WAS made in 86 or so!
@battie07 Umm, yes - he WAS truly talented, but, Umm no - he died of asphixiation - he was found hung in his hotel room at Double Bay with a belt around his neck. Room 524, at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Double Bay, Sydney.
You guys need to go get the Dogs in Space collectors edition. It has so much great stuff. Interviews with Michael..great footage. It's a must have. It also has this video on it. It's amazing.
My girlfriend's father made this. it's amazing, listening to all the stories... Everything actually happened. Such a fucking amazing movie. There's actually an enhanced version and doco anout it being played at cinema nova at the moment I think... No one knows about it, but I suggest everyone check it out..
Loved the soundtrack, not the movie. Had the soundtrack first, and was REALLY lookin' forward to seein' it.
When I saw it, over half the people left before the middle, including me. The only movie I've ever done it in. I know a guy working there, and on more than one occasion, they turned the projectors off before the end as everyone had left.
just because it's not a typical big budget hollywood film is no reason to walk out. talk about no stamina. this film was great on so many levels and you missed out. sometimes things that are worthwhile aren't that easy - it's good to be pushed a little and challenged - even if it's in a movie.
Read the post again, for Xenu's sake! I never said squat about it not bein' a "big budget hollywood film", nor did I say that was the reason I left. I'm an indie-film guy. The reason I got up and left was that I thought it sucked. All of my friends who are indie also thought it sucked. And they definitely have stamina and saw the whole thing, thinking it would get better at some point, but alas the credits rolled.
Some people even like "Armageddon" or "VanHelsing". Not me. To each their own.
I still have a VHS copy, but no VCR! ;)I'd convert it, as this is one of my all time fave movies, but the tape is so worn in spots were I obsessively watched and re-watched it 20 yrs ago! man do I feel old at 33!
Same! I got the VHS to! Special Ordered it @ my 1st job @ West Coast Video for $98. $98! (VHS were expensive back then.) & yes I feel old too @ 40! LOL!
fuck i want to have this film... saw this once with german subtitles.. so i understand it.. this is an wonderfull film with so much emotions...

Yes...The lyrics of this song is infact memoral. How ironic that he sing the first part of this song from a grave site of the women he loved.
