I've found two in my bedroom in the past few years (not exactly sure how they got in), and I used gloves and a towel for safety as well. Damn if they weren't hard to catch though.

Language! - I am sure that the bat does not find you attactive either!
I agreed with some othe other posts - that is definitely not a vampire but a bat house in the right area will help with mosquito population, just make sure that the bats inhabite it first and not wasps. it was also gratifying to see someone who was respectful in handling the bat, too many people mishandle or hurt the bats due to ignorance. If you want more informationon bats and how to help them go to batworld.org
He's great. Lots of character, I agree. Good on you for publishing and bringing the world closer to the life and point of view of another social creature.
@coryboy345 Why would you kill it? They are harmless and less than 1% have rabies. Just catch it in towel and set him free. They don't know if they are in your house; they can't tell the difference between a house and a cave. Have a heart.
It's definitely not a vampire bat. It is some sort of (insectivorous) insect-eating bat. It also looks from the photos like it's right wrist joint (ie, the joint that the thumb comes off of) is somewhat red and inflamed. From my experience that could be a bacterial infection.
Nice job on the pics of it flying through the hallway.
Definitely not a vampire bat. Vampires live only in Central and South America and have a very distinct face and stocky build. They also lack a tail and tail membrane between the legs. This looks similar to the big brown bat (Eptesicus fuscus) of North America, which are very commonly found in buildings. Nice find! Take care of our little bug-eating friend!
bats bit humans then humans turn into vampires like an new epidsode of phineas and ferb when candace got bitten by an bat then she turns into a vampire
Well, it's not a little brown, but it's not a vampire either. What a strange face! And so bitey for a bat! Not to mention alone. It must've been after the insects around your bed.
Isnt it strange, when he's on the towel im like "awwww hes so cuuute", then when hes flying around im like "Whaaaah get the hell away from me, kill it kill it kill iiiiiit!" of course i wouldnt really wish that :)

Amazing creature. I'd build a few bat boxes and put them up outside. They'll keep the mosquito population down.

So cute, even if it's ugly-cute. :3 I love bats, one of our best allies against mosquitoes.
But yeah, totally lying title, it's not a vampire bat nor is it attacking. Defending itself at most. I hope he's ok.
