@AntiKythera108 Of course we do!!!! i hear metal and i love it. And i'm a Depeche Mode fan and that's no problem for me. And i think this is a really great cover :D
This is the only song on Whoracle that I don't like. Like why the fuck did they have to include this P.O.S. cover? But even with this shitty song, Whoracle is still my favorite In Flames album.
it really pisses me off when people say in flames went to shit. why because they are making it? the music industry would be stale if artist stayed the same or conformed to what there fans of there older material wanted them to do.
@SATANICLEGIONS it's both necessary. bands that are changing with the time and bands that are stiff(can i use this one in this context?). just thinking that it's both kinda good like ozzy and in flames who changed with the time and like iron maiden who make kind of nostalgia.
@StrokedGT Usually the vocal style, I think, isn't meant to sound scary particularly, just more of a dynamic thing. Like the difference between acoustic vs. distorted electric guitar. If you're not used to it though, it's easy to get that kind of impression.
@StrokedGT Every genre of music has a set of characteristics that define it, this song belongs to the (melodic) death metal genre which features growling vocals, which is more of an effect than anything. There is a ring of truth to what you mention about "scary" vocals, but it's less pretentious than what you're implying.
Interesting cover. Sounds less like a protest song about rampant corporate greed and more a kind of apocalyptic prediction of how human selfishness will end us all?
@vOddy75 Yeah, I know what you mean. There's a different feel about this cover though. Hard to explain it right, but it just feels more... general? Eh.

Its interesting how many death metal bands cover Depeche Mode. Arsis did it too, and I know there's at least one more that I can't think of right now. They just don't seem like a band that would make a good metal cover. But it actually works.
@d1neu1 Listen to old Cannibal Corpse or something like that if you want to hear actual cookie monster vocals. Anders' old growls are reasonably high-pitched for death metal vocals.
Whether or not its a good cover, the lyrics complement the song material of the Whoracle album perfectly, that's the main reason I like it and think it fits the album.
This song pretty much sums up the message of the entire album.
Not really a metal person per se... but this cover does rock. The fact that they did it in their own style is an honorable tribute to DM.. It's obvious they were moved/inspired not only by the the music but by the content of character of this song and to mold it so that they made it their own says a lot about IF's musicianship.
I'm sure if DM were to hear this... not only would they be honored, but flattered.
Would I run out an buy it? Mmm... Probably not. But, would I recommend this to anyone who was into this kind of music (including industrial and maybe power noise peeps)? Absolutely. It's a good cover.
Every band has their own right to cover a song like they fucking want. So if you don't like it, fuck you or try to do something better by yourself. (of course, you can't, because you suck)
But don't throw shit to other bands, just because you don't like it.

You don't have to listen to it you faggot? And if you didn't know, Dep Mode covered an in flames song in return...You don't see us flaming their cover out?
Are you 12 or something? If you can't appreciate good music, then get off this vid and go listen to Miley Cyrus or something that a 12 year old would listen to.
If I had nothing to come back with I would not have replied. Like I said, if you like a terrible band like depeche mode, then you should have gone onto a Depeche mode video instead. I see you're using the classic "I'm not replying" comment, to make it look like you're just being the bigger man, when in fact you have lost the argument against someone who is vastly intellectually superior than you and is a 14 year old to boot. Hurts losing to the better person doesn't it?
You are vile and awful, just reading your fucking poorly constructed sentences appalls me, Ignoring someone doesn't prove you are right, it just shows that even you know the point you are trying to make is stupid. I can tell you are probably a teenage girl due to all the "<3's and :D's" so i think that explains why you are so inane.
this made me so happy..i dont listen to in flames but i love DM and this is so coool!!!!!! GREAT!!!!...i do like the orginal better! but this is great!
In Flames didn't sell out on that album. That has some great work. Not one of my favorites, but I would count A Sense of Purpose as their "sellout" album if anything.
This is actually quite good. I still prefer the original, but this has translated to a different genre far better than I'd expected.
Anyway, generic distinctions of this sort are a bit silly. There's lots of interplay between New Wave and the late 80s/early 90s alternative stuff that influences modern metal, so it really needn't be a case of either/or.
Not that selling out shit. Seriously, why does becoming popular suddenly make a band suck? If you believe they've got worse, I doubt it's a direct result of gaining popularity. Could be trying to refine musical style. And hell, they gotta make money, just like the rest of us. Artists make shit all money from the sale of music, merch is essential.
