  • the best way actually to call a turkey is to use either a crow call or an owl call. these birds are the turkeys natural enemy and the turkey will want to fight you, so he will come up to you for the shot. with a turkey call, you'll end up attracting other hunters who will want to hunt you and there's a possibility you could be shot. no saying that using a turkey call is terrible.

  • I literally had sex to this video

  • When ever I do my turkey call it sounds like a turkey with a smoker voice

  • Wow... your an amazing diaphram caller.

  • nice video, thanks! I'm going to link it to my accessible hunter blog

  • thanks but why do u have a backpack on?

  • @TheBowman911

    It's a turkey vest.

  • @TheBowman911 i know right who sits around with a backpack maybe he is a fan of kanve west lol

  • @TheBowman911 Turkey vest that holds all of my calls.

  • Great instructional vid. Thanks for posting.

  • Wow. Great tips man~! I'm just getting started in Turkey hunting and look forward to gaininng experience on mutiple calls.

  • Great vid. Helpful to a noobie like me. Thanks!

  • why is he bare foot yet wearing a back pack?

  • Your calling sounds about 50X better than mine! Maybe even MORE! : o ROFL!

  • lol ive been tring to use a H.S. strut double d and i cant come close to sounding like a turkey.

  • always remember, its better to call too little than to call too much. and dont get aggresive unless he gets aggresive.

  • ive always had ppl doin the calling for me, so this was real good info thanks man

  • They need to be kept in a cool dark place or the latex will stretch.

  • @lungbuster12point06 so the button pressing one u mentioned in the vid is that something like the mule deer caller?

  • how come on the back of mouth calls it tells you to refrigerate

  • @KyleA296 so your latex doesnt stretch

  • Man that slate sounds good alot better then mine I'm using a quaker boy Eradicator Slate. Looking for a new slate any suggestions?

  • Nice calling. Mouth call sounds good.

  • Your video series about turkey hunting is very helpful. Thank you for sharing.

  • great calling man, nice work with the slate and the mouth call!

  • dude thank you so much im a firsy time turkey hunter and i got a lil jack with glas by primos and it works great so thank you u for showing me how to use it

  • Great video! : ) A whole lot of information in 9:30! I've never had any luck calling in turkeys, and this will help a lot! You're GOOD! (Where ya from?) I've probably been scarin' 'em off unintentionally! : ( Would using a turkey call during deer season make the deer feel more comfortable about coming into the area you're hunting in, or would it spook 'em? Just curious. Thanks again! ; )

  • @HogRebel

I'm from WI. I host and produce a tv show called Pronghorn Productions TV.......as far as using turkey calls during deer season, I have used them when stalking or still hunting to cover my own noise while walking and making the deer think it was turkeys instead of me slipping up on them. I have never tried calling while in a stand, I think it would just alert the deer to your presence.

    Thanks for watching!

    Chris

  • @HogRebel hahahaha...i probably scare em off too with my mouth calls...it sounds like something dieing

  • Great Video,Very Instructional ,Thanks Man!

  • thanks dude. that helps alot. im new at the mouth call. soooo... thanks. pratice makes perfect.

  • very good video!!! thank you so much this was so helpful with the mouth call!!

  • i cant get the diaphram down

  • @zxzTOOLzxz Me either. My tounge ring gets in the way and the vibration on my bottom lip is too irritating to toleraate.

  • omomogmogmmogomgomgmgo thsnk you i finally learned to use the disphram

  • cat litter in the background is cool :)

  • I like how hes all dressed up and no shoes on...

  • is it legal to wear a ghillie suit while turkey hunting?

  • @therealskipy no you can wear anything you want while turkey hunting, just dont wear anything red, or blue cause then you might get shot hahaha

  • grasias es un gran video muchas grasias

  • thanks for the vid, great info!

  • THANKS A bunch

  • thanks bud

  • Thanks for the mouth call help I can yelp fine and cluck alright... but purring is a different story!

  • hey am trying to use a mouth call but i cant get it to sound ever god any tips

  • Hey it helped me to flip the call around backward and suck in at the beginning I can call pretty decent for only calling with a mouth call for 3 days. Once you get it that way try flipping it back. Keep Trying!!!

  • Thanks! Helped out a lot!

  • great video

  • im going turkey hunting my first time this week and ive learned alot from this video im using a box call

  • great video...helped out a lot. thanks.

  • thank you for making this video it really helped cuz im a rookie and i made many mistakes.

  • i just made my own box call and i was just starting to practice with it...i wanted to know how long do you wait between sequences?

  • If blind calling I wait between 15-20 mins. between calling sequences.........If working a bird it really depends on how he is responding.

  • whenever you use a mouth call do u just do the same method for a begginer call as a mouth call with cuts in the reeds?

  • hahaha no shoes.. hes bare foot.. 8:10

  • ok thanks thats the only problem i have with a mouth call is its just a lil high pitch and i have trouble correcting it

  • What call are you using? A two reed call with no cuts in it will be high pitched. The more reeds and cuts a call has the lower and raspier you can call with it.

  • ok see im using an h.s. strut old raspy hen call its a double reed

  • u could try puttin it in a glass of water over nite

  • use a primos diamond cutter model no.114 its a single frame, 2 prophylactic reed and 1 latex reed with a inverted diamond cut, its from the diamond cut series... its a great call very easy to use and not high pitched its a raspy call that sounds great by far my fav mouth call

  • does it really matter wen u use a mouth call if its just a lil high pitch and if so how could you correct it

  • Pitch can be controlled by increasing or decreasing the amount of tongue pressure you put on the call...........higher pitch is normally associated with younger birds, but isn't nessasrily a bad thing.

  • great video

  • Thanx!

  • wat mouth call would you recommend for a begginer like myself

  • I would reccomend something with a straight 2 reed design, it will be high pitched, but will be easiest to learn how to call on.

  • ok thanks and great tips ill look forward to using them this spring

  • what kind of mouth call r u using?

  • I believe I was using a Quaker boy screamin' green series.

  • what brand of call is that??

  • Which one?

  • im sorry...the mouth call!!

  • thanks...been needin me some tips and your the man to see..thanks again !

  • what happens when the latex for the call mouth gets wet and how do u dry it

  • You want the latex to get wet so it will play better.........I guess I'm not understanding what youre asking?

  • Great video, thanks a lot for making it. I am going to be calling for myself for the first time this year, so I'm trying to learn how. Thanks again.

  • This guy knows how to call...

  • nice job .. i just got a mouth caller and i suck but im gonna try your tips ... thanx

  • lungbuster12point06, I want to apoligize for my immature comment, was having a rough day. You know those days were you cant say anything nice? Well since I said something stupid I want to say sorry. Keep up the videos alot of people are getting good things from it. Rob

  • No problem.

  • I really don't care if someone thinks i suck at calling.......the turkeys I have called in for myself and for many clients through the years liked it well enough to come in and die, so that's really all that matters to me.....for those that my video has helped I am glad to be able to help new comers to the sport and Thank You for watching!

    Chris

  • I'm on board with turkman12 sorry guys

  • pretty good calling there man, very nice to see someone of your talents making a video for others to benefit from

  • that helped me alot im not the caller yet but i have a few calls to help learn and i hope i can get to use it sometime this year and thanks for the purr i cuoldnt do that before

  • Glad my video could help.........I'd like to see all the birds you folks take down using some of my tips.

  • hey man, i appreciate the help, i can use a box and slate fine, but until this video i couldnt even make a sound on the mouth call, it helps a lot to be able to use a handsfree call!

    thanks again man

  • hey i appreciate your help. i just got a mouth call and could barely make a sound at first. im do much better now thanks to your help

  • Good vid.

  • thanks. the vid was DEFINANTELY

  • thanks man, this has been really helpful. i just got a slate call, and this really helped me. turkey season dont start till april, but i need to get some practice in. it will be my first time, so thanks.

  • good job bud. im subscribin.

  • turkman, u suck!! y r u such a deuch bag? holy crap!!!

  • Turkman12,

If you are so good then why dont you make a video. I think he is pretty damn good and I am a a champion turkey caller.

  • good vid! this was especially useful for those using the in-mouth reed calls

  • Thank you.

  • Hopefully your video will be of some help to me next Monday. I've been tottaly using the box call wrong.

Thanks, and good luck in the turkey woods.

  • dude get a cane creek or cody glass or slate, your calls sound good but these are better.

  • Thanks for the advise..........but you have to understand I wasn't using all of my calls......all calls have a different tonal quality, and quite frankly the turkeys like the ones I have.

  • I rough up the slate or any of my friction calls whenever the striker starts to skip and sound dull.....clucks and purrs are easiest when you hold high on the striker...I hunt in Wi. Thanks

  • Also, where are you hunting? and how often are you brillowing your slate to keep the sound clean?

  • Damn good. just got a new slate call. need to learn how to pop those clucks off like you do.

  • Im leaving on my first turkey hunt on april 13 and I will be using a primos spring hen push button call.

  • wow your a celebrity !!!

  • Thank you!

  • nice vid. u know your stuff

  • My turkey season doesn't start 'til april 12 this year.

I have had very good success in the past 12 years.

    Thank you!

  • Hey everyone let me know what you think.

  • WOW! I've hunt turkey last year and never bother trying any call, but this year i'm thinking about using it. You are really good at using those turkey call. So how it go for you? got any turkey lately? Thanks for the great tips.

  • thanks alot man, it really helped me out i wasn't sure how to call and now i know.
