Rio de Janeiro. This class has a greater capacity for nuclear propulsion and missiles against the Ticonderoga clase. Too bad it must be leaking radiation ship everywhere
The introduction of the cruise missile made the battleship impracticable as a fighting weapon,rendering it obsolete.The western powers have refrained from building these monsters due to the fuel consumption and the deminished tactical deployability.
@submariner200 It is still an excellent SAG centerpiece, and would certainly make one hell of a carrier escort.It also has CONAS propulsion so its range is essentially unlimited
I do believe the anti-ship missile system should be vastly upgraded though
Hypersonic terminal velocity missiles are now needed to effectively defeat western defence systems
Several nations are working on this technology now, IE Russia, China, India, Pakistan will probably purchase the tech from China

@massivesovietunion Not sure what Russia would need with a nuclear powered carrier. They aren't very practical in ones and twos. Besides the whole point of Russia's surface fleet is to protect their SSBNs up North, close to home. The carrier doesn't have to go very far to do that.
If you can find a video of the Zapad-81 exercise from 1981, (which I saw in the US army but haven't seen anywhere else), they show one of these demonstrating it's firepower, pretty much all at once. Yeah, her hull is a bit old school , similar to a WW2 era Battleship. I have a 1/700 scale model of her sitting on my dresser next to my USS North Carolina model.
@bazzaau This was intentional. Look at old designs such as (codename) Kara, Kresta, Kynda, Slava, and your eye will be drawn to a point above the ship where several of the profile lines converge. Massive external weapons mounts, massive chamfers on edges, and a pronounced, sweeping bow were all intended project an aura of power, while of course serving more practical naval purposes as well. Mission accomplished. The awe-inspiring Kirov was the pinnacle of this design style.
the lead role. The ship's propulsion system is based on a combination of nuclear power and steam turbine, with four nuclear reactors and two auxiliary boilers. The four steam turbines deliver 28,000hp. Two shafts drive two five-bladed, fixed-pitch propellers. The propulsion system provides a full speed of 31kt.
An S-300F air defence missile complex is installed on the ship, with 12 launchers and 96 vertical-launch air defence missiles.
What a HUGE warship.The ship is armed with the Granit (Nato designation SS-N-19 Shipwreck) long-range anti-ship missile system. 20 Granit missiles are installed under the upper deck, mounted at a 60° elevation. The version of Granit on the Kirov is not controlled after launch. In ripple-fire mode, the lead missile follows a high flight trajectory, while the other missiles follow a low-level flight path. If the lead missile is intercepted then one of the other missiles automatically takes on
The U.S. will crush the brutal regimes of Russia and China. The U.S. and its allies will send the Ruskies to the bottom of the sea. The U.S. and its allies will destroy the Ruskies and the Chicoms. The Russians and Chinese are brutal regimes and imprisoned and murdered and starved over 90 million of their own citizens in the last 75 yrs. No human rights, no individual rights, no Bill Of Rights, fucking savages! Kill all communists!
No nation has donated more food, water purification sytems, medicine, clothing, tents, money, farm equipment than the U.S. No nation has shed more blood sweat tears and treasure than the U.S. No nation has liberated more people and nations than the U.S. What has Russia and China donated to the world? what has Russia and China done for mankind and freedom? who has Russia and China liberated? how much has the Russians and Chinese given to any nation for charity? answer; NOTHING
The Soviets (Russians) were the main reason why the Germans lost WW2. The Soviets liberated Mongolia, China and North Korea from the Japanese. The Russians helped the Israeli's to get their land. The Russians are the reason why Nelson Mandela was freed.
The Berlin wall fell because of the Russians. Russia contributed the most scientific knowledge to the world. 52 out of 100 of the greatest inventions came from Russians.
The fucking communist Ruskies built the Berlin Wall! LOL The Soviets stole Mongolia! The U.S. also helped liberate the Chicoms and Korea from the Japs. Nelson Mandela was freed because of the blacks in the U.S. applying pressure. The U.S. supplied China with weapons to fight the Japs. 52 of the 100 greatest inventions were stolen by the brutal karate kicking KGB, people like Putin. Everyone knows Russia sells its technology that they stole from the west and the U.S. to the Chicoms.
And they also took it down. Gorbatchov freed Mandela. He made it happen. He convinced F.W de Klerk to set Mandela free.
Stolen?? LOL!!! The US did that lol! Just look at the first flight by the Wright Brothers. It's a lie!! You're funny!! Russians are inventive people. They came up with many things the US failed at. The US uses Russian stuff lol. More than you would ever think.
So what?? It can fly without crew and has a larger payload. In fact it's a overall better design and chances are that Nasa is gonna use it one day. LOL!!
So what! So you admit it was stolen from the U.S. Is your space shuttle even flying? So what if the payload is bigger, it doesnt get off the ground! LOL I cant wait to see this Ruskie space shuttle fly without a crew! Propanda is still running rampant in SOVIET UNION lol
I cant wait for the U.S. to use your space shuttle. OK man! take your meds now. When is the U.S. going to use your space shuttle that cant get off the ground? Give me some facts and not propaganda full of emotion. Who said the U.S, will use communist space shuttle? I never heard NASA say there are interested in communist space shuttle.
I'm not sure if rebuilding the Buran's would be feasible. Sure they have little miles on them, but they've had little maintenance done, they may be too far gone to resurect. Using the design wouldn't make sense because we might as well keep our own, similar shuttle design, and build a new fleet since our current ones are pretty worn. The Buran was a great design, just not enough funding for her.
US engineers opted for this option last year. They look similar but the similarities end there because the Buran is capable of performing a mission without any crew and it has a larger payload. Maybe that's why they opted for this option? We have the wait and see what happens.
Yeah, I read about that. It was a storm that finished off the hanger with that particular Buran. I think one Buran is now a decoration at some park, probably Gorky Park.
@llynellyn Indeed, a great shame considering that the Buran's "Eneger" Booster was more advanced and SAFER the the U.S. Equivelent plus almost Completly Reusable.
I will give you one thing, The communist Ruskies took the brunt of WW2. But then Russia became the next Nazi's murdering millions and enslaving millions. They are and were a brutal regime. Communism is a failed system just like socialism.
Don't blame the whole of Russia because of a paranoid leader they had in the past. And certainly don't act like the US doesn't have it's skeletons. It has loads.
a paranoid leader? just one paranoid leader? LOL how about every Ruskie leader from Lennin to Putin in the last 100 yrs! Not one of them cared about human rights. Not one cared about the individual. Not one of them cared about freedom. Not one of them cared about free speech. Not one of them cared about freedom to assemble. Not one of them cared about its own citizens. Not one of them cared about liberty. Not one of them cared about capitalism and prosperity. You mean paronoid LEADERS!
Bush never arrested, tortured, starved, enslaved, or murdered millions of his own citizens! We dont have political prisoners in the U.S. nice try. Please try again later! LOL It is not the policy of the U.S. government to do that. We have freedom of speech, freedom to assemble, freedom to worship, freedom of press, freedom to redress our government. comparing Bush to Stalin, Lennin, Breshnev is a stretch wouldnt you say? Too funny you communist bastards. Still dont get it.
Do you know the definition of imperialism? The U.S. has never kept an acre of land. The U.S. has liberated more people and nations than any other nation. The U.S. has shed more blood sweat tears and treasure for other nations. What has Russia donated? What has China donated? how much? What has Russia and China done for mankind? who have they liberated? how many people have they saved from tyranny? answer; NOTHING!
Almost all the things the US done abroad had alternate reasons. To impose their so called Democracy and to gain welfare and power in the region. To create puppet regimes to put poluting US industry there. Their own form of Imperialism.
You define going into Iraq and Afganistan as liberation? Sure they didn't have a good government originally, but at least they weren't in civil anarchy. You're lucky that whackjob Bush left office before he could invade Iran.
When does modern times begin? 1900? 1917? 1920? 1930? 1940? 1950? I didnt know Russia did not consider anything after 1900 up to 2000 modern times. Perhaps that is why they were so brutal. It was not in modern times! WOW I got it now. Russia murdered because it was not in modern times! GREAT REASON TO MURDER! Nice try, please try again later. I think it would be better if you really just admitted that Russia was a brutal nation. It really would give you some credibility.
Ok lets try this. Try to say something good the U.S. has done. Try to say something positive about the U.S. Ok when you are done then try to say something bad about the Ruskies, lets be fair here OK go ahead and I will wait, thank you. Cheers
Lets see, who would I rather have in my living room or dining room for dinner, Lennin, Stalin, Breshnev? LOL FUCKING NONE OF THE MURDEROUS BASTARDS! So one murdered a little less, than the others perhaps a couple of million less, that makes him a better person! LOL too funny man
Not me, Nikita Khrushchev would bang his shoes on my table! I wouldnt want a ranting lunatic like him at my table. My table is nice. I wonder how many innocent Russian civilians he tortured and murdered. I wonder if he tortured like the U.S. does with womans panties on ragheads? Somehow I dont think Nikita was more kind about torturing. I dont think he used womans panties on his citizens. I put my girlfriends panties on my head, not torture. I think the Ruskies were alittle more severe.
Take a look at Vietnam and how happy they are. Socialism is the right way. People should care for each other. Something we don't see in Capitalism. Capitalism only seperates people more and brings envy and hate.
socialism like communism does not allow the full potential of the people to grow. It is a failed system. It is a brutal system. It is an expensive system. Capitalism is compassion in that everyone has a chance to grow as they see fit. There are many charities for those not capable. Capitalism allows its people the ability to be more charitable. The U.S. private citizen, churchs, foundations, corporations, charities donate billions every year more than more most nations total budget.
Russia murdered 35 to 50 million of its own citizens. After WW2 they enslaved all of Eastern Europe. Fucking savages. No human rights. No freedom of speech, no freedom to assemble, no Bill Of Rights, a horrible human rights record. LOL The Berlin wall was built by the Ruskies and now you want to claim it fell because of the Ruskies, LMAO too funny man! Russia brutalized all of Eastern Europe.
I didnt say just the 1950's now did I? They were brutal in the 60's, 70's, 80's as well, until the Soviet Union broke up. Still to this day the Russian gov does not respect individual rights or human rights, private property rights and does not have a Bill Of Rights. No free speech or freedom to assemble. Still a long way to go.
Who told u that? CNN? U have to many lie in your tv. Putin sayd once that every country shoul live by one international law, but US sayd "we dont care" , invade Iraq to finde "weapon of mass destruction", naturaly - grab oil pumps. When u saing - russia was brutall during cold war, I can say US and nato are brutall. Thay want to take control russian resorces, always want.U are blinded. By the way, u have no democracy !
@mer3abec Ironically that country that is grabbing oil refineries in Iraq are Russia and china,those two countries have contracts in Iraq,besides Angola.the Russians should not be talking about invading anyone,how about the invasion of Georgia?We are having enough resources in our country.
@marck0938 Georgia? Georgian regim had good punch, Russia prevented of killing civilians, thats it. After this moved out army from Georgia, 30km from capitol Tbilisy. In iraq 99% of oil pumps belongs to "Hulibertan" corp. Bush's family has part of it as well as Cheiny, Kondolisa and other former US rullers.
@mer3abec 99% of oil pumps belongs to russian,chinese and angolan companies,I was there twice in the war and by the way,I got videos in youtube to prove my point.Research.
@mer3abec You seem to have realized that the USA is a corporation, a corporation that has the population as its employees, or slaves however you want to look at it
But, these corrupt fucks promising change, are just new CEO's who come to take their part of the pie. Thats why they bend to large companies who get them votes
I live 3 years in Denmark, before this lived in Latvia, if u have money, u can buy even law, just buy good lawer. No lawyer, no justes. Our workers union leading case in denmark against one company, but it fails, cos this company stolen alot of money and bout army of lawers. Thay manipulat law as thay need. This is your democracy . And same situation in all western countrys.
not when that nation violates 17 U.N. Resolutions, and trys to assassinate a former president of the U.S. and not when that nation fires over 950 missiles at U.S. coalition aircraft flying the "No Fly Zone" set up by the U.N. Also that nation kicked out the U.N. Weapons Inspectors. The world said Saddam had WMD. The Ruskies said Saddam had WMD, the socialists democrats in congress said Saddam had WMD. Cheers commie
In 1986 the ICJ saw the case of The Republic of Nicaragua vs The United States of America in which it ruled (in favour of Nicaragua) the US was guilty of supporting "unlawful use of force" (international terrorism) and "in breach of its obligation under customary international law not to use force against another state" since you know, US Servicemen did support the contras, and whole slew of other traditionally illegal things throughout the middle east that i dont have enough room to talk about
@mattmatt115 The US supported the contra-guerrillas the same way the Russians had invaded Afganistan in 1979 and were supporting the insurgents in el Salvador,in guatemala and Peru,supported by the Castro's communist puppet regime,the soviets sended 3000 advisors to Angola to help with the cuban soldiers fight south Africa,the soviets also were building a military airport in grenada island with the help of the communist cubans,are you talking about violations,please ask the russians.
Brainwashed? LOL you mean like your state controlled media? your lack of free speech? or your lack or human rights, lack of individual rights, lack of private property rights, lack of civil rights, no 2nd amendment, no 4th amendment, no Bill Of Rights, no jury trial of peers and no presumption of innocense. You mean that type of brainwashing? try speaking out in Russia or China and see what happens to you, LOL nice try commie now get back to your communist military parade!
You do realize the cold war ended and despite a few differences, we ARE at peace with Russia? Stop the saber rattling, you're only making us look bad.

The awe-inspiring Kirov was the pinnacle of this design style.
haakondahl 8 months ago
the lead role.
An S-300F air defence missile complex is installed on the ship, with 12 launchers and 96 vertical-launch air defence missiles.

um actauly its 2 reactors, 2 oil boilers wich super heat the steam from the reactors to give the ship its top speed of 31knots

MrTrajan69 2 years ago
@MrTrajan69,
The Soviets (Russians) were the main reason why the Germans lost WW2.
ILTUSU 2 years ago
The fucking communist Ruskies built the Berlin Wall! LOL The Soviets stole Mongolia! The U.S. also helped liberate the Chicoms and Korea from the Japs. Nelson Mandela was freed because of the blacks in the U.S. applying pressure. The U.S. supplied China with weapons to fight the Japs. 52 of the 100 greatest inventions were stolen by the brutal karate kicking KGB, people like Putin. Everyone knows Russia sells its technology that they stole from the west and the U.S. to the Chicoms.
MrTrajan69 2 years ago
@MrTrajan69,
And they also took it down.

ILTUSU 2 years ago
@ILTUSU
Scioneer 1 year ago
@Scioneer
US engineers opted for this option last year. They look similar but the similarities end there because the Buran is capable of performing a mission without any crew and it has a larger payload. Maybe that's why they opted for this option? We have the wait and see what happens.
ILTUSU 1 year ago
@Scioneer the Buran that went into orbit was destroyed in 2002 after its hanger collapsed following years of disrepair

Yeah, I read about that. It was a storm that finished off the hanger with that particular Buran. I think one Buran is now a decoration at some park, probably Gorky Park.

What has Russia and China done for mankind? who have they liberated? how many people have they saved from tyranny? answer; NOTHING!
MrTrajan69 2 years ago
@MrTrajan69,
Almost all the things the US done abroad had alternate reasons. To impose their so called Democracy and to gain welfare and power in the region. To create puppet regimes to put poluting US industry there. Their own form of Imperialism.

It was not in modern times! WOW I got it now. Russia murdered because it was not in modern times! GREAT REASON TO MURDER! Nice try, please try again later. ILTUSU 2 years ago
socialism like communism does not allow the full potential of the people to grow.
