  • Am I still in this world?? Hahaha

  • EPIC FILM bravo!

  • Imagine, if you can stand it, what we would get if this script were somehow green-lit today.

    [Pause to go vomit].

They don't make them like this anymore.

  • the human race is a virus, cannibalizing it's host, thereby mandating it's own eradication; such a foul entity,

  • haha I love this movie

  • "The only trouble with snake women is they copulate with horses, which makes them strange to me. She says she doesn't. That's why I call her 'Doesn't Like Horses'. But, of course, she's lying."

hahah! this movie is too classic to be true. i love it.

  • This boy is no longer a boy! He is a man and he shall be called "Little Big Man"

  • "Of course, she's lying."

  • i don't believe she copulates with horses.

  • Classic!!

  • I have smoked on this matter. This movie makes glad to be human being.

  • One of the best movies that I know, 5*****.....I was afraid of that, well, sometimes the message works, sometimes it doesn't.......great scene!!!!

  • One of the best movies that I know, 5*****

  • why I always cry watching this film?

  • this movie makes my heart soar like an eagle

  • The Europeans learned a long time ago that bows and arrows weren't going to cut it anymore. If the enemy invents a cannon, then you invent one with greater distance, then he copies and improves accuracy. Next, you also modify, but improve rate of fire.

Too bad the Native American didn't realize how important it is to keep up with the times. Still, the Indian is still alive, and he did fight until the end.

  • Hahaha. That old man is just so crude!

  • Awesome scene!

  • this is my favorite part of this movie- what a treasure. that shyt was funny.

  • "Thank You for my victories and for my defeats...Thank You for my vision, and the blindness in which I saw further. You make all things and direct them in their ways - Oh Grandfather..."

  • My favorite scene in the whole movie

  • This scene must be one of the most profound in cinema.

And, the wisdom within & surrounding the humor makes it most akin to life.

  • @ccwman22 Chief Dan George should have won best supporting actor for this part.

  • Kevin Costner Save Us!!

  • The film is refreshing. It is a vital part of my archives. Nice to see some sympathy for the red man. I mean lets face it, for the past 40 years its ben all about the afro american, when in reality the natives probably had it worse and still do.

  • what a ridiculous statement :-) anybody has it better when they're not getting killed or enslaved.

  • @consterned Grow up man. Nobody else has criticized my comment. Look maybe I was wrong maybe the US was right after all in there policies. US cavalry stopped human sacrifice which was happening as late as 1862. Take the statement in full context.

  • @stuckinwhopast that's crazy :-) did they attack the aztecs?

  • @stuckinwhopast it could go either way? either slavery was good or genocide was good? i'll try and consider that before i reply next time...

  • @stuckinwhopast fo sho

  • @stuckinwhopast PROBABLY???

Look up a You Tube Video of Pine Ridge Rez.

    More like 500 Years Bud!

  • Praise Jesus!! ^_^

  • Come out and fight! Its a good day to die!

  • Damn wether always messes to our ideal plans!

    Fantastique !

  • That is a great scene from a great movie. Everyone should see it at some point in their life.

  • Thank you for posting this scene.

This scene is close to my heart. I can identify with him as he sits up and asks the Great Spirit to 'Take care of my son here. See that he doesn't go crazy."

This perspective is from a father's heart. Even if we may be ready to go, what about our sons & daughters? Will they go crazy without a center?

  • I too experience these things at Native American events but also in my everyday experiences with new friends I meet

  • Yes, I remember very clear seeing those little black people on 2 occassions that I can remember and one of those times my grandfather saying, "don't look at them" as we walked by dragging 2 poplar tree up the hill of the valley. The scene on the hill side with CDG is just like the ground in my youth. Go to Waywayseecappo Reserve, thou it has changed a lot, thou most of the scenic roads and landscape are gone, still some of it is recognizable from the old times.

  • Great movie !

  • The old ways are gone, I experienced some of these moments when I was 3 y/o back in the early 50's. The hill we lived on was some what like in this movie, the rain was like the same, the river (Birdtail River) in Manitoba, Canada. There were things that were of the supernatural that I have seen as a young boy growing up on the Indian reserve that I can not explain, but the super natural must be.

  • So long as the land exists it is possible to for ways to come back.

  • The only problem with snake women is that they copulate with horses! which makes them strange to me. She says she doesn't but that's why I call her doesn't like horses! But of course she lying! LMAO! What a great movie!

  • You met him? That very impressive. always liked him. He had a comic timing with his acting that always made me laugh.

  • I met him when i was 7 years old in Brandon Manitoba Canada............. and I was so amazed whern he spoke to me.....

  • One of my favorite books and films, I loved reading it in high school. Thanks for posting! :-)

  • Odalay!!

  • "¡Orale!" pronounced "oh dee lay"

  • cool-arrow thanks for the spelling lesson.

  • @bigdatut

    What the fuck is this?

  • @HolzKyle- Wisdom of the Aged

  • "Sometimes the magic works..." my favorite movie quote

  • One of the best movies ever!

  • chef d oeuvre

  • The noun has one meaning:

Meaning #1: the most outstanding work of a creative artist or craftsman Synonym: masterpiece

    I Agree 100%

  • Good to see this clip again. Chief Dan George was my husband's grandmother's cousin. He was from the Squamish Nation out of Vancouver, Canada. My husband was always proud of Chief Dan George.

  • That's awesome. I always admired Chief Dan George.

  • LOL. Love this scene. "I was afraid of that".

  • A much different ending from the book which was first published in 1964.

  • Wow! i havent seen this for years. great film, thanks for posting

  • I originally saw this in the theater in its first release (yikes - am I really that old??), and always remembered that scene, one of my favs. I also like when he's tarred and feathered by his own sister, and the numerous "Little Big Man, my heart soars like a hawk. Do you want to eat?"

    Thanks for posting this.

  • seen this movie when I was a little kid and loved it

  • My Father took me to see this the week it came to the cinema ,in Toronto...Thanks for the beautiful memories...

    Dr.J

  • fantastic film

    loved old lodge skins

  • hahaha ... ''am i still in this world? ..... heeeeh i was afraid of that sometimes th magic works ... sometimes it doesn't'' soooo hilarious

  • The name "Snake-woman" is from the sign for Comanche (which is what this wife is). The reference about copulating with horses is an old Plains Indian joke because the Comanches were among the first to embrace horses and all that they could bring. The tribe was widely regarded for the level of horsemanship displayed by both men and women. Old-lodge-skins had himself a pretty serious woman for a wife. Read the book. It is a good work of historical fiction. Lots of little details on Plains life.

  • Now that is some exact and amazing contribution I have ever seen!!! Thank you RIVERINE!!!! Could do a Wikipedia page just on this one clip!!!

  • wow, thats so interesting! thank you!

  • snake woman? Isnt that an insult to her?

  • Thats her clan. There are snake men also. Please try to be a little more open minded. I live on the Colville reservation and there are people here with last names like "Dogskin" "Everybody Talks About" "Drinkwater" and my wifes last name is "Running Bear" It doesn't mean they have dogskin or whatever.

  • no, because its her name, and snakes aren't considered "bad animals" it the native american culture. many native american names have a reference to an animal in them. Hope that was of some help. :)

  • @wolgreth its a joke... a slur to the Snake people . . . the copulating with horses bit...

  • I loved that movie

  • who do think he was talking to when he thanked whomever for making him human?

  • He was talking to the Creator.

  • thats what i was thinking thanks

  • the great spirit

  • emma charlotte stubbs sent me this, itis a treat, regards to your grandma, now I know where part of my genetic uppity womaness comes from. But I like horses..

  • Sigh..."... a world without human beings has no centre to it."

  • lets concentrate on the heroic male, lets forget the insult to the female............never copulated any horse have you?

  • ohhh, i didn't actually get that far... i just skimmed through the clip and that part caught my eye.

  • well I certainly appreciate you gettin back to me...............yer one of my favs hence I was (past tense) a llittle disappointed

  • lol i was surprised too, i should have watched the whole clip... thanks, i have a higher regard for your posts than many others.. they show a lot of character and persona.

  • thank you

  • Go buy the DVD too. It will be the worth it.

  • @narezdog a lot of people don't catch the dry "injun" humor...

  • I am the one that posted this video clip. My grandmother and I use to watch this movie together until she passed. We are Alabama Choctaw. This was our favorite part of the movie. When Cheif Dan George says "The only trouble with snake women is they copulate with horses, which makes them strange to me.

She say's she doesn't. That's why I call her "Doesn't Like Horses". But, of course, she's lying. "

Stop the stupid shit or I will take it down. Enjoy life, and laugh. I miss my Grandma.

  • narezdog, ya can't I tell you...no,no, nooooo.....anything...remove the "irritants" just pleasssse, don't take the clip away from us adoring fans of this classic, epic scene...

"A world without human beings has no center to it..."

"This is a great day to die..."

"The only trouble with snake women is they copulate with horses, which makes them strange to me. She say's she doesn't. That's why I call her "Doesn't Like Horses". But, of course, she's lying. "

  • larfin me headoff..............whattdayamean?always demeaning women, does me head in...........I wonder if when men say "a world without humans has no centre to it" are females included? Men are always so noble.....................don'f fuckin believe it.

  • The battle in our times is not the conquest of any culture or the conversion of any one to any doctrine or religion. It is the pure and simple fact that the process of survival allows very few freedom from the terriany of forced employment in an institutional hierarchy that kills the spirt and forces a kind of corporate slavery indentured for the basics of life. It can be broken from but patients and getting free take time and planning. Few want to go postal to get free.

  • This is not a Christian nation founded by Christians. The founding fathers, with few exceptions, just wanted to replace the British and rule the "masses" and eat out their substance. They had the same thing in mind for us as they did for the Indians: separate people so dissenters (tax protesters) wouldn't be in close contact. Federalist #10 explains why a "republic" was chosen rather than a democracy-if people are spread out over a large area, they are easier to "control."

  • What a GREAT movie! It, and "Dances with Wolves", did more to advance the culture and the humanity of the American Indian within in the U.S. mindset than hundreds of books and speeches. LittleBig Man is frought with poiniant moments and gentle, ironic humor like this one thanks to an amazing cast- especially Chief Dan George. We are smacked in the face with the fact that this tribe called itself "The Human Beings", and our Native American brothers and sisters were treated like animals- or worse.

  • Yes they were and by a society that called itself Christian, but our Lord would never have allowed such to have happened in His name.

One day all things will be made right. For our God is just.

  • I have been with Christians, what is, they are all so divided like everybody else is, each says they are the right way with int he Christian way. what do you say ytgonzo51, is the way you go, is that the only way, and i suppose only you know.

  • OH, by the way, when the Europeans first came over, they first sent in the missionaries to soften the people, then they came in with the soldiers (army) and they called it a victory as the movie says, but when the Indian tried to protect themselves, it was a massacre, what a bunch of bull shit you people talk. Go into everything and call it the Christian way, you are no different then anybody else, you just call it a different name AND why was it allowed to happen??
