This song transformed my taste in music. It's hard to believe that was over ten years ago. I think RDJ deserves a lot more public recognition for his contributions to modern music. I enjoy Skrillex, even if his sort of party-oriented sound is less moving to me. Skrillex was obviously influenced by RDJ, and I think it's only a good thing that there are current artists stoking interests that inevitably lead fans to discover RDJ, Squarepusher, vsnares, Hrvatski and other pioneers.

When I first listened to "Drukqs" my mind was blown mainly because of how intricate and complex some of the songs were. Maybe Richard brought new 'flavours' to the electronic scene, but I'm pretty sure the skeleton - and much of its flesh - existed long before then. Don't forget about Kraftwerk and even Pierre Shaeffer :)
