I *think* perohe/varenyky/peirogy are interchangable for the same boiled filled dumplings, depending on what region of Ukraine you are from. The Ukranian population is at least 5 times smaller the Polish population in Chicago that is why there are so many Polish stores around here. Gool! Go girl! I'm very supportive of you. I think it's very cool that you're supporting Ukrainian culture and that you can even speak Ukrainian considering that you live in States. A lot of young people who came here in their early age don't even do that any longer. You're right, Ukrainians (especially those that are so fur away from Ukraine) should be more supportive of each other instead of picking on little details, being judgmental and acting like they are perfect.

I *think* perohe/varenyky/peirogy are interchangable for the same boiled filled dumplings, depending on what region of Ukraine you are from. Fried dough with meat is also called piroshke or pyrohy depending where you are from. My family was from Western Ukraine so we said perohe not varenyky. mmmm i'm humgry now. ;)
