The Take Down latch is a different shape (but same place).

The Slide Catch is a different shape (but same place).

It takes down the EXACT SAME WAY.

The Mag Release Button is the same.

And I'm willing to bet the Mag's are the same.

Designed by Wilhelm Bubits, former Glock employee and he also designed the Steyr M9. The Caracal will probably be a very solid pistol, but I do not see myself replacing my Glock 17 RTF2 with it. Being imported to the USA by Waffen Werks in Knoxville, TN. Should be out in the USA within a few weeks, if I understand correctly.

Considering this gun is supposed to have a shop price of $599-$619 according to the director of operations of the USA Caracal branch I'm wondering how well they will actually do since there are plenty of well known poly pistols with lots of reviews,range time and aftermarket support. Glock and XD come to mind.

Glock is Austrian, and XD is Croatian pistol (somewhat based on Glock).

Caracal is produced in UAE, but it was designed by a team of Europeans lead by ex "Steyr Mannlicher" constructor, I guess it should be good.

Problem of course being - market is already very competetive (Glock, XD, SIG, CZ etc) and oder players has large stock of aftermarket accesories.

I know about the XDs and Glock since I own a few of each. According to the importer/American branch of Caracal, their pistol is also wider than the XD or Glock, quite a bit actually after seeing pictures of them side by side with the slides off. Only after many actual reports are made will we see how they are doing.In my opinion after seeing how much larger they are compared to the Glock or Xd at their price point they would have to be an amazing tack driver to make it here.

The model with the sight mounted on the middle of the top slide has the fastest target acquisition I ever tested, it has much less recoil than a glock chambered in 9mm, at 15 yard has a tremendous tight group, unfortunately at 30 yards shoot 1 mt above the target, but for close encounter it's a real sweety.

I got my answer! Yeah... no wonder there are similarities to the glock 19 with this firearm. But all said and done - its a first but certainly a good begining for the GCC market to produce such weapons.

All said and done the glock 19 does have a great compatibility to the cruel weather conditions of the Mid East desert and other climatic conditions.

this is a knock off of so many guns... S&W style grip, Glock barrel and flat top on upper receiver Glock, Glock trigger safety, XD front, FN style trigger guard, good Lord!!! It is quite unfortunate that some speak before trying the weapon. I am here for training and this is a Great weapon....Yes it may have some of those characteristics of other weapons...but, it is all UAE....It fires smooth, nice grips, the action is unbelievable. I hadn't fired a pistol in 15 years and I still put shots into half dollar size groupings from 20 meters. Don't talk trash until you have tried it!!
