Thank you for this very in depth tutorial! It has been very helpful to me, and today I will try a back-flip. I have mastered the front-flip without much difficulty. But the back-flip has scared me away.
Sense watching this tutorial I feel I know what will happen, and that's who I am, I have to know how things work.
Thank you so much for taking time to make this tutorial!
im 13 nd i can do flips now i first did my flip when i was about 6-8 or somthing like that ever since ive started trying to backflip but i never really got the landing onto a flip until this year. im thinking to start going to free running/ parkour classes to learn proply but im gunna wait a while see if i still wanna l8er (any tips on landings?)
oi ya should come and helpme try to backy cause imjust toshit scared tofild cause it fills like im bout to break my neck and die im tryying to flip bout ibail out plz help me!!!
Thanks man =) my problem is just not believing in myself much ^^ but i did back flips on sand btw i loved 13:43 part because now i know what exactly i did wrong xD thanks again
Dude, I can't believe that you learnt it all directly in the real world.. Really, your videos motivate me to do stuff but I am afraid of doing flips, coz I know that if it hurts, it can be very serious ... But anyways, instead of trying in open (I don't have good and safe place) I will practice at my home with some good padding on the floor... I hope this would work as well.. Please reply..
If I was training with you, it wouldn't be a good idea for you to spot me, since I weigh considerably more than you do. I do have a goal of at least trying, if not succesfully completing a backflip by my 40th birthday later this year, but at the pace I'm going, I may be able to do a backflip long before that. And I don't have a trampoline, gym, or a spotter available to me. All I have is a ball field about six blocks away with a wood pellet box with steps that I might flip off of first.
The way to get over your fear is to have someone spot you. My parkour group leader put one hand on my back and I flipped but if I didn't rotate enough he could rotate me or vice versa. After you try that for a while it becomes natural
anyone have advice to get over fear everytime i try my arms just automaticly go side ways so i dont od it, and bale out i took out the couch cushions to land on them but im still too scared any advice please reply
Thanks so much for the video its awesome and very helpful. Before i watched this i wasn't landing on the ground softly and my ankles were being ruined. thanks for this video i hope to see more
any tips on how to get over fear because every time I try and do the flip I bale and put my arms out and do more of a back handspring than a back tuck...
@yodacasper i just learned it the other day on a huge jumping pillow, i started by going over my shoulder and only just landing, this was because i wasnt jumping very high, then i jumped high and went straight over my head and landed it. there was another excercise i did which was hold onto twwo poles pretty close to each other then jump (keep holding onto the poles until your done) and do a backflip, and keep progressing so you let go before you land and try keep getting higher and higher.
Man, I've been trying to do a back flip but whenever I'm about to do it, I psyche myself out and end up landing on my head (tweaked my neck just last week, my fault for not tucking). I can land a front flip easy but the back flip just terrifies me, no Idea why, anyone have any tips to get over this mental block? Good tut nonetheless, just this damn mental block screwing me up.
When I first heard of free running (age 12) I instantly wanted to learn how to do a front flip. I actually taught myself that w/o help of tutorials. I mastered it in only about 2-3 weeks. BUT, since then (4 years) I have been trying to learn how to do a back flip and I have just recently barely gotten myself to land upright if I do it at higher grounds, into a foam pit. It seems as though everyone has more problems with frontflips but I am the opposite way.
@psycotoastFTW to be honest most people have an easier time trying frontflips becasue they are a lot less scary, but I would say after you learn a backflip they are less work.
@LaFlairParkour I think it is because I put to much thought into it. Yesterday, I went to a gym and just went for it into foam with out too much thought and I did pretty good at it.
hey jesse, im going take classes at tempest. i saw you at tempest when i was at open gym with my bud and i knew you looked familiar when i saw this video. cant wait to take classes and i look forward to be taught by you. when i was there you were helping people with the backflip but i was too chicken too try it. but not anymore. when i take classes, be ready to teach me that backflip :D
WOOOT, thanks dude it really helped me. I started by doing no bounce on the trampoline, then to a matress, then the ground with pillows and finally i just did it on the ground!! thanks it really helped me :)
HELP :when i do this i dont rotate at all i tuck and sorta look back but i just land on my shoulders/neck and i was doing a frontflip and i was doing the safety tuck and i hit my tooth off my knee ...
I find it weird because I started on Trampoline then off of things and for some reason I was scared to do backflips on trampoline's but after 3 tries I find it easy but i can not do frontflips on ground only backflips any tips on how to do frontflips i tuck and all that stuff and my jumps are good.
@PicturePerfectTages you kiddin me? doing it on a trampoline is easy, just do it as you think it should be done and it will happen.. the big problem is trying to do it on the ground which I never was able to do.. because jumping becomes much harder
Hey, I cn anyone help me I tried this and my problem is that I did it halfway and then fell on my head. I did on sand and it didn't hurt much. My questions is should I just do it without thinking too much? Because I stretch my legs out, 'case I think I am gonna fall.
@Nnnarekkk that's not bad your in the process of tucking (
when i backfliped i didn't tucked until i wanted to do it on ground... ) it means your a getting little scared to tuck but stretching out legs could make rotation bad so try safety tuck :D
what do you do about the jerk you get when you land? Or you get used to it after a while? Also will practisin the moves separately prepare you to do it all together? Like the jumps and the tucks. Thanks for the tutorial by they way!
@emeralddragonex I don't know the "jerk" your talking about maybe send me a video response... And yes practicing them moves separately will still enhance your flip.
@LaFlairParkour i'm fit, i can jump high, i'm well flexible.. there's grass here, but whats the best way to do it on ur first time? off an edge, or just on the ground?
Nice tutorial,Im going to share this. But one quick question, what shoes are you wearing when you practice cause i bought some free running shoes that cost 140$ and they arent that great.
@DXD901 which??? Nike's have lots of varity, like nike freerun, these are great and the ones i have are the same thing but they are from live strong, so quality is a little shitty not so much though
hey dude i learned how to do a backflip. i can do one on the ground. but when i land, my body is always at a 90 degree angle bend at the waist. so my chest is facing the ground, and i fall forward and have to catch myself with my hands. any advice on how to get my chest in line with my legs and land standing up insead of bent over. ive tried tucking longer and jumping higher but i cant figure it out. any suggestions?
The worst thing you can do is try to bail. Seriously you are better off committing and fucking up than trying to bail. Trust me on this one. I learned from experience.
please help me, i have no problem back flipping on a trampoline, i also did it easily, but i came dangerously close to hitting my head on the edge, please give me advice of how to fix that.

you should teach a wall flip, i already know how to do one but im sure ppl would like to learn and lplease look at at my wall flip video and let me know if there is any improvement i can make??
@LaFlairParkour Ok so i got the rotation down and everything, but i cant stick the landing yet. whenever i do it, i land with my knees bent at an acute angle, then i roll to my back. am i doing something wrong or do i just need to practice? thanks
@DXD901 No you should NOT look back until you have gotten all the height you can get, and only after your knees come up to your chest and you start to rotate. Eiser said then done, but if you throw your head back right away you will cut off any chance of getting height and not be able to flip
@LaFlairParkour hey can you do a tutorial on how to do that roll when you jump from high stuff and land on the ground I think its called barrel roll Im not really sure.
I donated $20 for a webster tutorial last Tuesday and I still haven't gotten it -.-

@Nnnarekkk don't stretch ur legs out :P always keep them bent going towards ur chest that makes u rotate quicker :)

@TheTr3yification It's scary and sand isn't good padding. I guess you have to do it once to get use to it.

@LaFlairParkour Ok so i got the rotation down and everything, but i cant stick the landing yet. whenever i do it, i land with my knees bent at an acute angle, then i roll to my back. am i doing something wrong or do i just need to practice? thanks
ssj4solarflare 5 months ago
@LaFlairParkour So ... when you Bflip do you look at your knees all the way or look back (with your head)
DXD901 4 months ago
@DXD901 No you should NOT look back until you have gotten all the height you can get, and only after your knees come up to your chest and you start to rotate. Eiser said then done, but if you throw your head back right away you will cut off any chance of getting height and not be able to flip

@LaFlairParkour when i was practicing i realized that i dont land on my feet
