Thank you so much for this. It' s a hell of an introduction to Kiju Yoshida, and I'm primed for Eros Plus Massacre now. So little of the Japanese New Wave is available in the States, all I've seen are some of the old Oshima classics on cheap VHS and import DVD. This reminds me a bit of The Sweet Smell Of Success and Night & The City, of all things, or perhaps a sinister New Wave inverse of Naruse's When A Woman Ascends The Stairs.

wow, the ending saved the film for me.. I was very surprised especially since I thought I had it all figured out.. Ty for the post ensouvenir !

全然知らない作品だったけど、とりあえずネットで調べてあらすじだけ読んでみた。実際見たらなかなか面白かった。今の時代に置き換えて、設定を少し変えてリメイクしても面白そうだね!!男と女と金が絡むテーマは時代を超越してる。

Thanks so much for posting this! This movie was fantastic, and I never would have even heard about it (much less seen it) otherwise.
For some reason, it almost reminds me of Sunset Boulevard...
