4) Before DNA tests, marriage was a way to determine who's children were from the couple (vs. an "interloper")...In any event...a child born within wedlock was/is legally the responsibility of the father...and of (actually)both parents..Also by extension the parents' families, tribe clan, etc..
5) Marriage is a way to legally allow sex...in the least disruptive form to a society.

Yeah I agree. I hope this new Swiss law is the beginning of Europe fighting back to stop the muslim takeover of Europe. I think sharia is awful. I would hate to live under muslim law. I hope there will be some kind of all out war against Islam to settle this problem once and for all. The purpose of a minaret is to call the faithful to prayer. Today this is done by loudspeakers. Islam has a long term strategy reaching over generations. Once the 'kafr' have got used to the sight of minarets and once there are enough Muslims in positions where they can exercise the right influence, the call to prayer will blare out over entire community. Non-Muslims will be happy to sell their houses at any price and these houses will be bought by Muslims who will consolidate Muslim ghettos.

I am friends with several Muslims and I can say they don't have a violent bone in their body. One of my gamer friends converted to Islam and he is still a great guy to hang out with.

Each commandment has a different verse reference. The Qur'an (if you believe it to be true) is "progressive revelation"

If God has an actual son, then that means God is not eternal. They think of him as the "son" in the sense that we are all "children" (or just created) of God.

Allah is the same God the Christians worship and that the Jews worship. Just a different name; that's all. It's still the same Abrahamic God. God. With a capital "G". Allah created the heavens, the universe, and life itself.
Think of it like this (the way my Muslim-convert friend explained it): Judaism is a computer game. Then comes the first expansion pack, Christianity. Islam is the second expansion pack.

YHWH's nature does not change. He is the same, today, as He was yesterday and as He will be tomorrow. His message is the same past present and future.
The entire Bible is a seamless, ongoing illustration of the love by the Creator for His creation.

Both Jews and Christians consider Muhammad to be a false prophet.

As a Christian it is my duty to follow Christ's great commandment (which has two parts).
Regarding the legal/civil rights issue:
The same laws that would benefit either a hetrosexual couple or a "homosexual couple" would benefit two siblings, cousins, a parent and child, who were sharing expenses, etc..
Laws are a reflection of a communty's values. I can help to shape laws, by voting, lobbying, etc., etc., etc..

Marriage is necessary on many levels.
1) People are created male and female.
Why? That's how we procreate.
2) The products of procreation are children ("children are a gift from the Lord")
3)Marriage provides a way for the children to be raised with role models and to benefit from the (hard work) efforts of parents, family & community to develop into productive and (hopefully) morally upright adults.

4) Before DNA tests, marriage was a way to determine who's children were from the couple (vs. an "interloper")...In any event...a child born within wedlock was/is legally the responsibility of the father...and of (actually)both parents..Also by extension the parents' families, tribe clan, etc..
5) Marriage is a way to legally allow sex...in the least disruptive form to a society.
