Gene was a great announcer...grew up watching the shows he worked on, always enjoyed his stuff, and I loved the little ad-libs he'd sometimes come up with during ticket/contestant plugs...RIP, Gene.

Both Gene Wood and Johnny Olson were the staples of Goodson-Todman announcing. If there was a "Mt. Rushmore" for game show announcers, the heads immortalized would be from left to right, Olson, Wood, Rod Roddy, and Jay Stewart. RIP to them all:(

Ironically today that role is filled by Burton Richardson, who was done the Davidson and Barker Price Is Right (and is Rich Fields' backup) and starts his 10th season on Family Feud in September.

Gene Wood really was as much a big part of Family Feud as Dickie Dawson and I miss him. I don't care what anybody says, the original version of the 'Feud will always be THE BEST!!!
