Gene's reaction to trying those cookies would be what I would do if I ever tried toasted ravioli, a St. Louis favorite. I have friends from St. Louis who live in Santa Clarita so it could hopefully work for me.
I liked this tribute to the Best Family Feud announcer.. It's always cool to see Gene Wood's face on television. I would have like to see some Feud 94 clips with Gene in this montage as well.
Sorry Burton you're a good announcer, but you and the Fat one can't compare to Mr. Gene Wood.
Gene was a great announcer...grew up watching the shows he worked on, always enjoyed his stuff, and I loved the little ad-libs he'd sometimes come up with during ticket/contestant plugs...RIP, Gene.
It says on wikipedia that Gene died of cancer, but it doesn't say what kind of cancer it was. Does anyone know? I read on another video's comments section that Gene was a smoker.
oddly enough he would have been the same age as George Clooney's father Nick ... !! I finally get to see what a character Gene Wood really was ... RIP Gene!!
@kymarcin He also hosted a Canadian-based game show called Anything You Can Do from the first season (1971-1972), then was replaced by Don Harron (aka "Charlie Farquharson" from Hee Haw) for the next two seasons.
If you any other Youtuber could post a Super Password clip with Gene Wood being the answer to the puzzle, it would be just as great a tribute. The passwords in the puzzle were JOLLY, ENTHUSIASTIC, WHIPSER, PASSWORD (puzzle solved at this point), and ANNOUNCER.
Both Gene Wood and Johnny Olson were the staples of Goodson-Todman announcing. If there was a "Mt. Rushmore" for game show announcers, the heads immortalized would be from left to right, Olson, Wood, Rod Roddy, and Jay Stewart. RIP to them all:(
Ironically today that role is filled by Burton Richardson, who was done the Davidson and Barker Price Is Right (and is Rich Fields' backup) and starts his 10th season on Family Feud in September.
Gene Wood really was as much a big part of Family Feud as Dickie Dawson and I miss him. I don't care what anybody says, the original version of the 'Feud will always be THE BEST!!!

Gene Wood never had the same chemistry & rapport with Ray Combs that he had with Richard Dawson.

I loved Gene Wood on "Beat the Clock" and never understood why he wasn't a host on other game shows.

The way Gene falls at 0:51 is pretty funny. I could never fall like that.

Gene Wood was one of the best. It's just too bad he's gone and that he died the way he did.

Just about six months after Rod Roddy and two months after Art James.

Do you know that Gene Wood filled in on ``The Price Is Right'' after Johnny Olson died? He also did ``Super Password'' and ``Classic Concentration.''

I remember when Gene Wood would appear on Beat the Clock to help people win.
