pht, and then he says "OMG ITS SO GOOD" *takes tiny scoop and nips it*

srsly? who the fuck does that? old lady is probably just pissed because she has to live in a nuclear waste site, she probably cant leave even if she wants to, because she has been exposed to to much radio activity.

  • we prob get more radiation from a microwave, the woman is 80 years old and still healthy

  • Lol, I bet he was gutted after drinking that drink, hopefully he is ok but if the people living there are fine he should be.

  • they probably taste nicer. Have a bit extra zest added to it maybe? :P

  • @damed2live Most likely cancer

  • @damed2live radioactive plums taste a bit more like cancer

  • @damed2live One has a slightly more metalic taste than the other, And a nice tingly sensation so the radioactive one is actually better.

  • I would try the radioactive butter

  • yyy... he doesn't know how to drink vodka, lol

  • why would i do such a thing?

  • To get rid of your ignorance to the world?

  • So im ignorant because i didnt quite know where this was shot at?

Maybe you should stop being and A-hole and just tell me were it was shot, instead of comming with those "fix" comments.

  • Well, I would have figured EVERYONE would know where Chernobyl was.

Try Googling in future instead of posting stupid questions.

And yes, I am an asshole, but maybe I just set my standards in others too high.

  • well everyone is not as "smart" as you

And why would i google it? Its just a simple question, that i just wanted to know at that time?

Maybe i set my standards about ppl like you to high, i mean i shouldnt have replied in the first place asshole :)

  • You will know for future reference!

  • i love how the video cuts after he says the moonshine could have been made from the potentialy radioactive plums.

  • I LOVE ANNNNNNNA!

I WANNA ADOPT HER, SHE IS SOOOO CUTTEEEE.

    i love chernobyl.

    mmmmm

  • she's not an animal

  • Wow,That's one tough lady...She's very cute!!

  • "Those plums... out there?....."

  • either way, i like that old lady

i know why she survived, she's got attitude man!

i LOVED how she took that away from the old man! it was epic!

and from the bottom of my heart to the famillies of tchernobyl:

WE HAVENT FORGOTTEN! WE DONT BELIEVE THE LIES! WE REMEMBER YOU!

    i had to say that.sorry.

  • that old woman is awesome!!

  • i love this film it alaways makes me laugh what a sport is stefan

  • good man.

the locals of chernobyl/pripyat are polite enough to invite him to their home, the least he can do is take their hospitality

  • what even if it means indangering ones life they were lovely people truley but his got a family back home waiting for him

  • this guy rocks :D

  • Stefan is so attractive - warm, humorous, courageous, ironic, witty, intelligent and sensitive. Kind of guy I'd like to settle down with. Oh.. and he's also attractive physically but not in a traditional and/or conventional sense; he's not what one would call "handsome"; he's very nice looking all the same.

    Trina

  • What an honor it is to have had the opportunity to eat in their home with their companions. You must be afraid of the Iodine 131 when you eat in Oregon state, USA. My grandmother died as a result of the Green Run tests that carried radioactive elements over much of Oregon. If the hostess lives to be this age, perhaps I shall move over there. As we watch others die with cancer around here. Why don't you get your producers to warn you like that here in Oregon? USA's Media lies and insults everyone

  • Iodine-131 has a halflife of 8 days. This means that in order for it to be any molecule of it left today, 50 years after the run ended, the initial relase would have had to be in the order of *many* times the size of the known universe.

No I'm not kidding... you can do the numbers yourself if you know a bit of chemistry. One mole of Iodine-131, weighs 131 grams, and contains 6*10^23 molecules. In 10 years, the amount of molecules is reduced to aprox. 1 in 2*10^137. There just isn't any left.

  • and what the hell is a "moonshine" or whatever?

  • it's homemade boose or easy explained homemade vodka!

  • wau!

  • vodka is not made by plums

  • it moonshine

  • it can be made of anything. chopin is a brand of polish potato vodka. it's delicious.

  • Yes but generally, Vodka is made from cultivated potatoes.

  • alcohol can be made from some fruits or vegetables im pretty sure. including wheat and barley, but thats an entirely different drink altogether

  • Moonshine is (if you know how to make it) 100 times better than the crap you buy from the liqour stores,no smell and taste at all. But be carefull how much you drink it!!!!

  • LOL i would not try Homemade Russian Vodka.

Maybe you become blind of the methylealcohol

  • what happend to you afterwards?

  • FOOD CONQUERS OVER EVERYTHING and no matter what food is good and thats what drives us

  • FATTIE

  • sczkho ne krasivo?!

  • when i go to Poland to visit my FAmily i never Eat my grandmas soup lol not couse it would be radioactive and shit but damn its nasty as fuck i would never eat this old ladies soup neither.

  • ukrainian is very different from russian, but i mildly understoof with my russian knowledge

  • pisdez

  • Cheers to him! There's still a lot we don't know about radiation and it's effects. I'm not saying it's safe, but this is real journalism.

  • Radioactive achohol. Must be kinda strong ? ^^

  • you can't feel or taste radiation.

  • How can it be then that allmost all the guys who cleaned up the area around the powerplant that have got interviewed told that they got an metallic taste when they stepped into the reactor ?.

  • then it wasn't the radiation they were smelling. probably the concrete and melted crap.

  • The metallic taste the air was saturated with particles from the stream explosion. It wasn't the radioactivity that caused the smell and taste.

Also the video is a bit wrong. He says that "one particle can cause cancer". Well that depends on his defintion of "particle". One atom cannot do it. A pellet of the wrong stuff though, that can kill much.

Also, if he was worried about radiation, a simple geiger counter would have told him if the food was safe or not.

  • that is a resuly of accute radiation poisoning. you would have to absorb 250 reutgens (the equivalent of 100 chest xrays) to feel these symptoms.

  • wow eating in the broken down soviet union scary.

  • she's so cool and young... i'd honored to eat at her home!

  • I wouldn´t touch that food even if I was starving like a mangy dog...

  • well back in ukraine, we don't have salmonella, so it's ok to eat drink egg.

  • Said by someone that has never starved, nor have ever had their kids go hungry. Talk is cheap...

  • thats one awesome old lady

  • Xaxaxaxa! Krutaya babushka!

  • nushto soupchik yeste

  • What's the problem? Everything we eat is radioactive. Ever heard of carbon-14? It is found in every living thing, since they're all carbon-based. Radioactive potassium-40 is also found in our food. EVERY single thing we eat is radioactive, so why worry about it.

  • Because we evolved with the standard decay of carbon-14, this is chernobyl for christs sake.

  • Nice video!

  • that sucks for him thats like having sex with a lady that had aids and didnt tell you

  • dude this british guy is great

  • Cool old lady.

  • Hee Hee I've eaten in Chernobyl :)

  • whats the name of this programme?

  • The name of the show is Cooking in the Danger Zone.

  • sure we survived the apocolpyse thing im sure we will stil be alive

  • hahaha at he end when he says, the drink was made of radioation... SHIT!!

  • Its interesting how people worry about low radiation doses from nuclear contamination, but never give a thought to the naturally occurring radiation around them. Especially smokers. Smoking a pack and a half for a year gives a whole body equivalent dose of 1.3Rem.

  • This is actually very dangerous. The WHO provides radiation testing for local potatoes OUTSIDE the zone of alienation, and the food consistently contain dangerous levels of radiation. They are inside the zone and that food must be heavily contaminated. Good luck man.

  • Talk about peer pressure. lol I would NEVER have ate a thing. In the back of my mind for the rest of my life, I would worry about getting some kind of cancer. Lets see. . . The experts say its safe hmmmm. . . Are they related to the same experts who were running the test that caused the reactor to explode in the first place ?

  • Well said.

  • I love russian food. Its so simple yet so awsome.

  • the old lady is actually speaking beautiful Ukrainian vernacular. So does her husband.

the other guys speak russian, which is no surprise: the military was heavily russified in the soviet union and still remains until know. there's also still division between urban/rural population in the use of Russian/Ukrainian language

  • If those people still healthy, food isn't so bad for them or their used to the low level of radiation. Plum vodka must be goood ;)

  • bitch is crazy

  • the languages are similar, one of my friends is ukranian, and she says that since they are border countries the dialect is pretty much the same, there are only a few differences

  • is your friend a linguist? :-) "only a few differences" - well, try to learn one of these languages and see if you'll automatically understand the other

  • well she lived in Ukraine since and up until she was 16, but anyway

  • Wikipedia page on mutual intelligibility does suggest that Ukrainian and Russian are mutually intelligible, though of course that doesn't mean knowing one gives perfect comprehension of another. "Lufe God abufe al and yi nychtbour as yi self" is Early Scots and should be intelligible to speakers of English, but it's fairly obvious from that example that a native English speaker could run into comprehension difficulties with the language.

  • mmmm good home cooking in chernobyl radioactive soup, radioactive butter and bread, and don't forget radioactive moonshine made from radioactive plums from her radioactive garden

  • radioactive plum brandy...mmmhmmm

  • they may have saved the radioactive food for guests, while thay are always eating the good food from the store lol

  • lol =D

  • Pfft! I`d eat it. She lived to be eighty, shouldn`t that be a sign that it`s okay.

  • Bequerel soup and some Bequerel booze to go xP

  • so basically at the end she rigged their food so they would all be radioactive ?

  • Geez the drink even looks radioactive. You can hear his crew telling him not to eat certain things and he just ignores them. Tsk tsk. Not to mention the guys laughing at him in the background while he is chugging it. I would have slapped her. ut thats just me.

  • radioactiv plums? shit :P
