According to Wikipedia in JP, Kanpei's gag "Amema" was derived from a little kid's saying "Ahh Mama!" and it changed to "Amema". You say Amema spontaneously when you get into a trouble or driven into a bind (as a gag).
(Although Wiki may not be right sometimes.)
However, Kanpei-san and staff members seem to explain that "Amema" is just a silly word which doesn't have any meaning, during Earth Marathon. They're happy to have Amema friends through Earth Marathon and it is cheering them up.

"The moment how Pumpkin was born!! The video clip is here ( = Youtube video "PUMPKIN !!")".
It was born when he got out of mind with terrible wind. However they are not explaining what Pumpkin exactly means.
