I'm pretty sure Knuckles is Piccolo. Both are technical guardians of something, Knuckles originally tried to kill Sonic, became a grumpy ally, and we're now at our present.

I have the whole series and they're the same shadow was faster only because he used chaos control and if you played sonic adventure 2, generations, and watch the series throughout the whole thing you'll find that they're pretty much the same.

@ockcmifb Except Sonic X is actually non-canon. According to SEGA themselves, Shadow can only keep up with Sonic because of his shoes. So Sonic is naturally faster than Shadow is, while Shadow relies on his Hover shoes to compete with him. Not to mention, as of Dark Brotherhood and Sonic Generations, Sonic can canonically beat Shadow in a fight. Usually, the result of the two clashing is either ambiguous or a tie, but recently Sonic has proven able to best Shadow.
