  • Ah, those were the days.

Hey kids, let's play with molten plastic! IT'S FUN!

  • Yes I had that when I was a kid. Got burnt a couple of times. Still remember the smell.

  • I had this exact toy, and burned myself with it all the time. Toys could kill you back then. Remember the Aeroblaster?

  • i had creepy crawlers in the mid 60s.man did that thingmaker got hot !burned myself quite a few times on it.but my parents wouldnt think of blaming the toy company for it. if i got burned it was my own carelessness.how different we are today.

  • wow they had these in the 50s? I remember the ads from the early 90s, I had a set of these! I guess nothing is new under the sun lol

  • oh sweet siamese

  • Gotta show my father this.

  • I had this as a kid....sold them at school to my classmates. Then moved up to "Creeple People".

  • @rcline69 lol i hear ya

  • creeps and crawlers rule

  • 3 ppl r scared

  • I had that when I was a kid!

  • I suppose the little bastards jump too.

  • @UshiromiyaReiji ofcoarse they jump !! lol i was the first to post this, now look at all the followers. however i didn't create the toy, or film the commercial, i was about 4 or 5 when it first aired on TV, lol,, yes we had to use antennas to tune in the channel, and it was mostly snowy sometimes. that was when UFOs couldn't be faked like we see on youtube now,

  • Ha ha. I had one, and the bugs I made scared the crap out of my mom and sister.

  • I still have the one they made after this with the green top and orange oven. Still works too (:

  • As a child in the early 1970s I had lots of fun with this toy.

However, i now realize that this thing was dangerous. I use to burn the hell out of my fingers/hands with the hot molds and the plastic goop had an awful smell.

  • @Pr1ncefan Haha yep I can still remember the "cooking" smell, and all the burns on the fingers. But we were having fun! ;-)

  • @blueparasaur -- yes you are right, I had lots of fun with this toy :-)

  • @blueparasaur -- yes, great memories :-) Life was so simple then.

  • It feels so soft and natural lol

  • WOW...how cool! WAAAAY before my time. Now, we pay the Chinese to make crap like this for us, and it's just as poisonous as the real bugs they're made to look like! No more fun. :(

  • The boys version of the easy bake oven.

  • Varnlestoff I can remember that smell too. AH! memories of my childhood.

  • Was this made in the 50? I didn't know Creepy Crawlers was THAT old!

  • i had somthing like this but they were candy =)

  • best toy i ever had.

  • "With the wonderful, Thing Maker!" Really? LOL

  • Anybody remember the toy like this but it seems like you put a plastic cube on a hot plate and it turned into a dinosaur?

  • The Sinclair Oil company used to have "Sinclair Days" and they had a booth with a hotplate and you could make a green "Sinclair Dino." Maybe that's what you remember.

  • hmm.. they re-released this in the early nineties under the name "creepy crawlers" .. actually i was looking for that commercial

  • I had one in the 60's... Could you imagine Mattel trying to sell that today?

  • Goop smelled so good!

  • LOL! I was just thinking the same thing as I was watching this!

  • and by the way, am i the only one the LOVED the smell of the "gooop" lol.

  • I had this shit too, it was THE TITS bro.

  • Oh my god!!1 I had this toy around 1994 in Mexico and it was great!!!! I even sold figures to my classmates haha good memories!

  • I still have my oven in the basement, lol.

  • One of the best toys I ever got. I can still smell the Plastigoop.

  • I have them XD

  • gosh where can i find a set of this!

  • In the 1960's I had the Creepy Crawlers and the Creeple People..with the funny hair.

  • ~ c r e e p y ~ c r a w l e r s ~ :O

  • now the porn industry makes fake pussies out of the same stuff. Now THAT"S creepy.

  • ahaha

  • @JacksonPerdue And they feel so sooooft and naatural!

  • @JacksonPerdue LOL seriosly?!?!?! ha ha ha ha, i can't iamgine who would buy those and what they will do after make them

  • @JacksonPerdue lmao!!! ;) and fleshlights!

  • My favorite was the Fright Factory. The pictures on the box scared me lol. What a puss.

  • Found an old mold (1965) at a flea market and snapped it up. Gorgeous little chunk of aluminum.

  • I loved my creepy crawlers.

  • I recall if any of the Plasti-Goop leaked it would literally melt the styrofoam box it came in. That can't be good.

  • I had a "new" one when i was little. I guess late 90s early 00's. (yea im young lol) I have the smell etched into my mind as well. I loved these! When i had friends over we used to make these and this harry potter potion pack- it was a book tie in not the movie

  • I had friends who had these and sold them at school for the milk money lol.

  • I had one, too---burned the hell out of my fingers a few times, but I loved that toy. There were also Fun Flowers and Incredible Edibles.

  • DAD IS NOT AMUSED

  • the dude talking is kinda scary

  • MAN, what memories! I had one of these. Got it for Christmas probably about 1967. I was 9 yrs old. I am 50 now! I remember how it would turn darker around the edges as it hardened. I also remember that smell. That smell is "burned" into my memory!

I also remember a toy similar to this, maybe not "Creepy Crawlers" but very similar. Maybe it WAS "Creepy Crawlers", who knows? I remember EDIBLE ones. They tasted like Gummy Worms, only they came in all shapes. You baked them yourself!

  • haha... yep.. nothing like the ole smell of cookin' up some crawlers! :)

  • Pouring toxic liquid into a hot iron, connected by electricity.

Man, do I miss the days when PC people didn't notice these toys

  • OMG, I'm literally laughing my ass off. I had one and now I'm thinking just what you said... those were some seriously fucked up great dangerous toys... ahh those were the days.

  • I had this, but they also had one with "edible" creepy crawlers. The commercial showed a cake decorated with them.

  • they feel so soft and natural

  • I remember these and as someone already mentioned, they would never sell this today.

  • One of my favorite toys back in the day, had no problems. I loved making pins and attaching plastic wings to dragonfly mold. Used toothpick for skinny parts removal, and I just used it like a mass production factory moving one mold to the other two cooling trays. I liked seeing the goop color change as it was baking from light to darker solid color. The new lightbulb oven just doesnt get it because the tray is concealed, and loses half the fun of watching it change.

  • that takes me back

  • I also remember the smell of the plastic when it was baking in the molds. I had a great time making those bugs. I used a tweezer to get the thinner legs or feelers from the molds. I thought it was a cool toy, but it would never, ever be sold today. Talk about safety hazards.

  • After 30-something years I can still remember the smell of that stuff baking in the mold...

  • I had one of these in the 90s

  • Looks cool, Id like to have one of those..

  • creepy

  • I remember that the bug maker steel mold got to about 300 degrees and could burn the eff out little kids fingers. It did it to mine.

Today it would be banned, back then it was one of the coolest toys to have. And yes - the goo ran out too quickly. I do not remember getting replacement tubes so I never enjoyed the full potential of maybe burning down the house.

  • i found extra goop at local department stores. the newer bottles were larger and had wierd colors like 'flesh tone" and "purple".

  • It was hard to get the creepies out w/o pulling off a leg or feeler.

  • pour in the goop

  • I loved this they were so warm and squishy when they came out and I loved pulling them out of the molds-the molds were pretty thick and heavy-me and my brother played with them for hours on end--- and now He is a drunk and been one for several years-please pray for him I miss that He can not talk normal anymore -He is always so gone mentally now!!!!!

  • i used to have this, but i the goop ran out in like a week, i was so pissed

  • is that for eat lolllll

  • What's with the random tags on the video?

  • Totally cool! I had one of these as a kid and went through a gallon of plastic goop! Hard to believe we had toys like this then...the "Thingmaker" was basically a hotplate - I got burned numerous times - but I've lived to tell about it! It was a great toy along with my Hot wheels and GI-Joes! What a grand time it was then.

  • lol Since when is it natural for spiders to feel soft?

  • i can still smell the goop baking in the oven... ahhh the good ol days lol

  • greatest toy ever. the original, of course, with the 300 degree hot plate, not the wimpy one that came out later with the lightbulb.

  • Every kid on the block had one of these! We used to take 'em all over to one kid's house and set them all up. It looked like a Creepy Crawlers sweat shop, and it always pissed our parents off because the 8 or so 75watt bulbs heated the shit outta the house.

  • cree -eee -Peee co -mmercial

  • for those who like to get one,ive seen these for sale on ebay

  • I LOVED this toy as a kid. Basically it was a hot plate that you cooked probably lead based goo into insects , *LOL* But it was the greastest toy.

  • I want one!!!

  • the guys voice is really funny

  • I had this growing up. I wish we still had it! :(

  • ghoulish fun for the entire family HA!HA!HA!

  • They feel so soft and real...

    0.o

  • xD I made the same face when I heard that!

Did you see the commercial for Gaylord the walking dog?

    That one was classic.

  • haha thing maker

  • "They feel so soft and natural" lol.

  • Back in the days I too had the creepy crawlers in the late 60s....lots of fun...chewing on the plastic bugs...

  • I loved this thing! And I remember that burning plastic smell too! plastigoop-oh yeah! :)

  • I loved those. I don't think kids today would be allowed to have something with such burn potential. I remember burning myself on it a time or two but overall the toy was great.

  • The smell, yes..I remember. I was thinking Shrinky Dinks too. We couldn't eat those could we?

  • i still remember the burning plastic smell of those things just from watching this.

  • AHHHHHH!a fake plastic spider! LOL

  • not selling on ebay

  • I sold one on ebay a few years ago, found it at a garage sale, still have my aunt's from the late 60s that I inherited in the early 70s. Loved that thing so much!!! Burn potential, so what? Screw Ralph Nader and the safety nazis, they've ruined this country for kids.

  • best thing i've ever gotten as a kid lol

  • Swell! LOL!

  • sexy.....

  • 0:31- "they feel so soft and natural" that sounds so weird and perverted lol

this must have been before they discovered bugs have exoskeletons and as such are not soft at all lol

  • What the hell do Godsmack and Led Zeppelin have to do with this video?

  • lmfao it's got me stumped

  • If I do a search for Godsmack, I should expect to find a video with Godsmack in it, or a video containing at the very least one of their songs, I mean, like damn, WTF?!?!? LOL

  • hahahahahhahaha

  • mwahhahahaaaa

    expect,the,unexpected

  • @frankenboston If you expect the unexpected... Then it's no longer unexpected and IS! expected!

    Some ol albert/William.S. shit

  • haha i had the 90s model of this, the one with the green and orange oven, when I was 11! i still remember how the goop smells.

  • damn, i want this

  • I made Creepy Crawlers...and they were crazy!

    sylvester, Times Square

  • what year was thus?

  • That was from the sixties. Not the forties. And they were great fun. I remember exactly how they smelled.

  • I had those!!!

    They sucked ass!

  • LoL paul, lol!

  • wonder how many houses kids would burn down if they had those things today!

  • These must have been around for awhile. They had commercials for them in the early 90s!

  • dude this commercial is from the late fourties.

  • I know this commercial is from the sixties. They also had creepy crawlers around in the 90s.

  • "they feel so sooft... and natural..." ?>

...What the FUCk man! What the fuckl!!

  • lol

  • i have 1 of those things

  • I remember Creepy Crawlers and....Incredible Edibles.

  • that used to be badass...

Cancer? don't believe you, mate. but if that's true, then whoa. that's crazy.

  • Yikes!!! Creepy crawlers!!!

    Thanks for the flashback

    P.S Don't drink the goop!!!

  • The goop, I'm pretty sure, is polyurethane.

  • I had one of those. I didn't find it all that interesting, even as a kid.

  • Everything causes cancer nowadays.

  • I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

  • They were fun to make but that smell was not pleasant.

  • I think I still have scars on my hands from this toy. Really cool though, especially the glow-in-the-dark goop.

  • i had one of these when i was a kid..loved it, although i liked my johnny-7 better!!

  • Love it! I always wanted one of these but never did get one :-(

  • DON'T GET BURNED KIDS!

  • Just plug it in, take out the creepy crawler with a metal knife. THEN THE FUN BEGINS!

  • I still have mine but it doesn't heat up anymore. I also still have my Strange Change Machine and Vac-U-Form. Remember thoses.

  • I owned this as a kid in the 60's. It got so hot you could boil water on it. Ah the good ol' days.

  • Remember when you got 3rd degree burns checking the status of your thing maker!

I did ! nobody ever talks about that! Should have come with a warning.

  • wtf

  • I remember this commercial when I was a kid in the '60s. Wish I could see the Incredible Edibles commercial too....Gobalty Goop.

  • wow I didn't know it dated ths far too!

  • Ooooh. A thing maker. Very original.

  • i remeber this commercial when i was a kid, wicked funny.
