I'm a little disappointed that it can't play youtube hd videos after so many reviews say it can and its promoted as a hd laptop.

I'm not tech expert, so is this just a youtube issue? Can I have 720dp videos on my harddrive and play them without any issues?

Try a different browser, such as Firefox. Googles Chrome is quickly becoming most useful. Or try reinstalling Adobe Flash.

The monitor is 1366 x 768, anything above 1280x720 is technically classed as 'HD'. It's a kind of white lie for modern screens. Real HD is 1920x1080, but also has greater colour and contrast ranges.

i have one of these, and yes HD videos play fine when being played on anything other than flash. (the best performance i've seen are best when stored on the hard drive)

Is the 6 cell battery last up 8hrs+, I am thinking of buying on of these are they any good and very fragile? (I am going to get one for college would it be any good?

No, only about 5. I cannot recommend this model, it is just too slow. For college use, perhaps you should look into a full sized notebook or a different model like Acer 1810 or 1410.

I thought the GMA 500 video chip does full hd decode offloading, is it not? Perhaps you are not using the correct software, try the Media Player Classic Home Cinema, it supports DXVA.

you have to manually check it, switch it on and change the desktop backgroun to black, then white and check properly.

here's an update. barely a month in and the built-in webcam has stopped working (hardware issue). It has to be fixed by Acer. Error message reads something like "Camera not found, please plug in your USB camera"

cool im going to get my first netbook in about a week, its the same model i think, but has 2gb of ram, 250gb of hdd and a 11.6 screen so i cant wait to get mine

Thank you for replying back so soon, To be honest I don't play games on my pc, I prefer playing games on games consoles :).. I would be mainly surfing the net, listening to music and maybe watching some tv shows online, but nothing major.. any idea how it is for playing music?

music is fine, no problems at all but tv shows will depend on the quality. watching viikii shows on my d250 is slow but watchable so I think it would be unwatchable on the 751. watching standard youtube is fine but not HD which is expected for all netbooks with atoms I think.

Thanks. It's really quite slow. I can play Age of Mythology on my D250 with graphics set on high but not on this one (crawls even at lowest res and settings). It really should be used for surfing the net, doing a bit of work in MS Office and some simple online games to kill time. Strictly as a netbook (surfing net and emails), it's nice but if you venture further, you'll be kicking yourself for having bought it. I also tried putting Windows 7 on it and it's painfully slow. Win7 on my D250 flies!

One of the worst things is the unit has quite a noisy fan. Overall, since my nephew uses it for his school work, net, emails, yahoo chat and online games only, it's not too bad. Know exactly what you intend to use it for before paying the cash. The extra resolution is very nice but I would advise you to go for the faster Atom N280 models. I love my D250!
