PIRELLI IN F.1? NO tHANKS....!!!! bastard Tronchetti Provera president...development in Turkey of course...cost zero of course...but Pirelli it's made in Italy?? Fuck!!!!!!!
@2333321983 Testing times mean nothing, Ferrari topped a few test sessions last year as well. And Redbull for instance where sometimes close to the top and sometimes to the bottom. Chances are the highly developed Mercedes GP and Mclarens will be very quick on the tracks next year for others to handle. In testing the fuel can vary from anywhere between 15kgs to 180Kgs. No one knows the other's program
@pishabness I understand your perception, but unfortunately engineering advances have made it impossible to give engineers a free leash. They will go on the 'high expense yet diminishing returns' route once allowed to. So the result is cost restriction which meant banning Turbos when they did so in the late 80s. In todays F1 costs are again a problem.
How does adding a turbo increase the cost of the already expensive car? You can only drive a car fast enough, and once you pass the physical limit (f1's come close to it), it's impossible to go any faster.
@pishabness Physical limits? I can assure you being from this industry you haven't even begun to see the limits of what F1 can be like. We are just limited by regulations.
Turbo charging unit and construction requires exotic and tempered materials which raises cost due to Turbo engines needing much higher tolerance requirements. There is need for more stringent needs to manufacturing chamber, piston, valves etc And hence higher R&D costs.
You make it sound like F1 cars are out of the world. At the end of the day, they're just cars- 4 wheels, big power, and completely governed by laws of physics. As far as turbo goes, you should know that induction is the cheapest way to make loads of power. Furthermore, race engines aren't meant to last in the first place.
You may think so because perhaps you are not into the field or work in aerospace industry. There is nothing out of this world about it. It will only appear to so those who are not into this field.
The engine needs to last 3 races now, So like I mentioned above, the costs for exotic materials and R&D is not worth it. Costs need to come down.
@ShaylaDD The bulge is not the main aspect of the nose, it is the high profile that is designed to increase airspeed under neath the car and generate a low pressure zone further generating more downforce and this increased airflow is then directed to the diffuser's benefit.
The bulge is merely a way to keep structural strength while lowering the middle section for slightly more closeness to the reference plane. Downforce benefits.

well somebody had to copy Red Bull, so it might as well be ferrari, lets just see if it performs as good as it looks! Very good showcase vid, thanks for posting!

When the car first launched, everybody was saying "it's so underdeveloped". But that car was actually a bad motherfucker who would dominate everyone!

i know the last test was insignificant. Iam not putting everything on the test. They look in good shape though, and with Alonso in a good car.

Alonso is gonna wipe the competition with this car. He is gonna make Massa look so bad that this will be Massa'a last season

ugly piece of shit. I will never ever watch f1 again, unless Mosley brings back turbo.

We need to cut costs, they are already too high.

this is not the first time ferrari has the bulges on the top of the nose. mid 2000's they had it at certain races. So redbull was the copycats.

f1 cars are much longer
TheWashingtonWizard 2 years ago
Yes that is inevitable due to the repackaging caused by larger fuel tank, piping and rewiring
Be sure to check the F10 car design analysis at our forums :D
