  • im just christian

    is that good enough?

  • aloha, i am not an lds member, but I am sadden that people continue to disrespect their belief, though we do not worship in the same manner, i hope we maybe able to respect their beliefs, if we can respect the ones we can see, i am assured we can respect the one whom we cannot see, much love and peace to all the children of GOD.

  • The text comments on this thread are not as vitriolic as usual. They started out nasty, and crazy, but have improved!

Let's all celebrate this as a small victory!

  • They talk about the veil of the temple being torn in two and of that signifying the gap between God and man being bridged. So why do you need to go to temples to be in God's presence? "Worthiness" was done away with in the Incarnation and the rending of the temple veil. Jesus, God made man, made himself completely available to the least "worthy" during his life, and the veil which only the most worthy could pass through was rent in two. So why do only "worthy" people get to enter the temple?

  • For probably a similar reason why you believe that only Catholics can participate in communion. You believe that certain preparation (e.g., baptism) is required to participate.

We also believe that certain preparation is required to participate in the temple ordinances.

Certainly no one has to be perfect to enter the temple, rather striving to live the commandments.

  • That doesn't mesh with the context of Jesus' saving ministry, death & resurrection.

For Catholics it's not preparation that's important, it's that you believe in it. Still, anyone who wants to can attend a mass & doesn't have to leave at communion, & even if you're not Catholic, no one can stop you from receiving the Eucharist if you go up to receive. The lds church won't let anyone watch the ceremonies in the temple, go into the rooms after the dedication, or even see a script of the ceremony.

  • Well, for Mormons, preparation is important.

And like Catholics, it is important "that you believe in it."

  • If you don't believe in our teachings. Why would you want to go into our temples.

  • @carlasue88 BUT anyone CAN still accept the sacrament. Your comparison is not equal. A better comparison would be, when was the last time the Catholic church showed the anointing of a priest when he was conferred his orders? There is always an announcement afterward, but it is not a public performance. It is VERY private actually. Or for that manner, an anointing of a Pope. There IS an actual ceremony. But who saw it on TV? No one. Everyone in teh LDS church is a priest, a dedicated holy servant

  • Where's the evidence for the Bookofmormon people? There's quite alot in the Bible proving that the Jews existed. The Bookofmormon stories lack "the evidence of things not seen" which is a requirement of faith.

  • It truly is a fascinating mystery and there are glimpses of evidence for the Book especially (Ironically) in the Old World.

  • Thats because the devil exsisted then too.....

  • There are TONS of ruins all over North, Central, and South America suggesting an ancient people. Most of them are in Mexico and central america (Guatemala). The temple ruins and even the "cliff dwellers" in south america were suggested to live during that time.

  • Indeed. Although, my question to you is, then, why do you assume that these ancient Americans were Book of Mormon peoples?

  • I've seen evidence

  • Where's the evidence that Adam was the first man? That a man can live inside a large fish for several days? That someone can fit all animals on a boat? If I were to base my reasoning on a belief on the Bible based on the way you base your's on the BOM then I would have doubts as well. You must ask yourself why you hold a double standard between the LDS faith and yours.

  • @awolLDSasap look for it

  • The new mission presidents leave after President Monson addressed over one hundred newly-called mission presidents and their wives.

  • Interviews should be positive, he added. "My suggestion is that we provide help — that we love, not scold."

  • jerry is a nutter...

  • I haven't called u crazy. Just unfair bickering on your part. I wanna divorce, lol.

  • a desperate one at that.

  • oh, i guess you just can't take feedback. just disable comments like all the bigots do.

  • I haven't disabled any comments.(though it always is tempting when there are repeated illogical statements...).

  • That brief conversation with my friend helped me as a stake president to teach relentlessly about and testify of the eternal importance of temple ordinances, temple covenants, and temple worship. The deepest desire of our presidency was for every member of the stake to receive the blessings of the temple, to be worthy of and to use frequently a temple recommend.

  • Many years ago while serving on the Relief Society general board, I was on an assignment to teach and train some Relief Society and priesthood leaders. We had arrived just in time for the meeting to begin, after having spent the morning teaching in another city.

  • We seek to increase in faith and personal righteousness, strengthen our families and homes, and serve the Lord and His children.

  • religion is stupid.

  • "religion is stupid. "

    as stupid as your comments?

  • And you're a sucker.

  • "And you're a sucker. "

if I fell for your constant garbage I might be, but I do NOT.

  • LOL...if religion is "stupid" why do you keep coming back again and again..to LDS videos?...hmmm..could it be the Lord is trying to soften your hard heart?

  • If you can stand doubt as a part of your faith, read, "God is not Great," by Hitchens.

  • If you can stand faith as part of your life, read "The Holy Bible" and the "Book of Mormon", by inspired men of God.

  • Sorry, I know too much to get suckered at this piont. When will you have murdered enuf gays of predjudice and feel satiated?

  • "murdered"?

I don't think anybody has been murdered.

Your response unfortunately had very little to do with the conversation.

  • Of course you don't get it. Beatings, Sheppard's crucifiction, 13,000 fired from jobs in the military, predjudice against promotion, hiring, retention....on and on and on...but don't let facts get in your way.

  • of course facts should not get int the way of your religion.

  • Those are all tragic things, but have no relevance to this video or how this conversation started.

of course logic should not get in the way of your comments

  • murder is part of history of people like you against gay individuals. Sheppard, Milk, etc. own it. This is YOUR heritage and history.

  • People like me? Who do you consider "people like me"? Christians?

You know nothing about me except my religion and make such a far-fetched accusation.

I'm sorry if you're upset with recent political happenings, but to make such baseless accusations is absolutley uncalled for.

  • I luv your callousness. rich.

  • Those kinds of comments say much more about yourself than anybody else.

  • Just feel guilty hunh?

  • Why would I feel guilty?

  • your mormons make me sick to the stomach! so much I could puke into every mormons face! Seriously!!

  • I think that says a lot more about yourself than it does Mormons.

  • the importance of temple worship from the time of Adam and Eve to modern man

  • Thank you, lds9999! These videos are wonderful! May they help many to a better understanding of the purpose of temples.

  • Solomon's temple is a myth.

Solomon probably did exist, but he was a tribal cheiftan ruling ofver a couple thousands herdsmen and thier families.

The "second" temple was actually the first.

  • Please cite authoritative sources proving your statements. You're obviously neither Christian nor Jew, so please understand my skepticism over your comment.

  • what????? are you smokin', you nut! lowkey76

  • Jesus Christ went to herod's temple to warn the priests to repent and end there corruption, and predicted that withing one generation the temple will fall

if the temple was so holy why did god allow its destruction

the curtain was a symbol of the priests authority of them only being the ones to speak to god.

The curtain was torn as a symbol to tell all men know, that not through corrupted priests or corrupted states will you come to god, only, ONLY THROUGH JESUS CHRIST.

  • "if the temple was so holy why did god allow its destruction" - response: Jesus on more than one occasion affirmed that the temple was his Father's house. That should be sufficient evidence that it was holy. The Bible is full of evidence that God allows wicked men to destroy things that are holy, including his holy prophets, and Christ himself.

"The curtain was torn...." response: Please cite your sources for this statement.

  • Actually the curtain represents the veil between us and God, being represented by the Holy of Holies.

It was torn to symbolize that the veil had been rent, and that yes, as you said, through Christ we can come to be with our Father in Heaven again.

  • Wonderful temples

  • wow, thank you very much for sharing this video...

  • I am so glad you posted this. I hope all who are studying about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will see this. This video really touched my heart.
