He does have 11 living offspring in captivity though. This is WAAAAAY more than any other parent. Tilikum should be (and I believe is being) kept as breeding stock.
The only place orcas have been recorded to kill people is in captivity. Tilikum is the only orca to have been known to do this. There have been minor attacks, but so few.

He has suffered in captivity in a chlorinated pool for over 20 years, he deserved freedom. seaworld started as an animal rescue facility and the animals there were determined unfit to live in the wild meaning they need seaworlds care or they will die! seaworld opened its doors to the public to teach the public about the animals and how to help them such as not littering the sea. so please stop saying they are holding them there. you dont know a word about what your talking about so dont even bother commenting.

Yes, Seaworld STARTED as an animal rescue center, but today, it's nothing more than another amusment park. They are all about making money, even at the cost of these gorgeous animals. Every single animal at any Seaworld has either been taken from the wild, or captive bred, forced into a life of slavery. You are seriously misinformed if you truly believe these animals are happy in pools of artifical concrete and chlorine instead of the beautiful open ocean. unfortunately releasing tilli wasnt an option. they kept him and he is performing again. the trainers are a lot more careful with the whales now. it may have been the wrong decision to let tilli perform again but seaworld did what they believed they should do. the only other option was to put the whale to sleep and they didnt have the heart to kill tilli.

The trainer wasn't in the water with him, as they weren't allowed to go in the water with him - he is too big and powerful. She was standing on the poolside talking to the audience when Tilikum came up and grabbed her. So he should be able to live and carry on going in the shows.
