You're both wrong.

Scientology = SCAM.

Scientology tends to recruit chiropractors because of their anti-psychiatry hatred. Does that mean chiropractic is necessarily a scam? Nope. But the true scam is Scientology, who blackmailed the IRS into getting tax exempt status, and whose leader physically abuses his staff.

Open: I don't assert that chiro is a scam based on any affiliation or comparison to any other group. I think it is a scam because it is based on unscientific, unproven theories and that there is not evidence in the research literature that conclusively shows chiro to be better than placebo.

Simply because I am critical of any profession that makes unsubstantiated claims and refuses to acknowledge that it must provide a scientific basis if it is to be taken seriously, does not translate to my enlightenment. drmarisan: Fuzzy logic as you choose to use, regardless of the motives of pharma, that does not legitimize chiro by default. There is precious little to no evidence that supports chiro as a stand alone modality. Your so-called "vitalism" and "subluxation" are not grounded in anatomy or physiology of the 21st Century. Chiro is a cult, based on no scientific data that supports its claims.

@ospreylook You are totally right. All you have to do to cure back pain and sickness is to prescribe drugs with loads of side effects and health risks. I don't need to go to 8 years of Drug Dealing school, to learn how to associate symptoms with a flow chart in a hand book. I can already read.

i think neck and lower back should be done by pros and chiropracters but i really do fink its a load of bollox and a waste of money upper spinal manipulation can be done by any one and if ur back is bad get a deep tissue massage

@paperandtea - this is not true, a sports (deep) massage gives relieve for about 2 days - 3 days tops!!! adjustment works very well as a lot of current literature suggests! However i think that this technique needs to be used with other techniques!!!

It's sad that so many unsuspecting people fall for this type of Snake Oil. Folks, Chiropractic is nothing more than an expensive massage. This is why there's no scientific method behind it. This is why there are so many different versions of it (which version of Chiropractic are you getting?). It's an alternative medicine with ZERO scientific research behind it. However, if you like expensive massages, by all means, enjoy!

Chiropractor's do not "crack" the back . The sound that it makes is the releasing of gas built up between the vertabra, calling it cracking perpetuates the idea that Chiropractors are quacks that are causing more harm than good. what they are actually doing are called adjustments.
