they are not signed....its indie! indie has been around forever grunge is considered indie....so i guess a good comparison is that eastern indians are considered asian, they dont look or act like other asian cultures, but they are still asian. same thing here, they dont sound like other indie bands, but because they are not signed they are still indie.

Looking back, THIS band IS indie, simply because they aren't signed by a major label. I was 16 when I wrote that, and while I admit that I was terribly wrong, I won't stand for "Indie is a spirit" b.s. If indie is a spirit, then by god, I may just be Michael Stypes. If indie were a spirit, it would be virtually impossible to differentiate it from punk, folk punk, post-punk, or early new wave, all genres which shared a deep regard for DIY ethics.

I was very impressed by your sound. It's very rare to find a band like yours that sounds good! Your vocalist is very impressive to be sure. The only thing I can say is that on your own instrument all of you are very good, it's just when you have to go off your instrument that it becomes shaky (in other words the harmony needs work.) But other than that, great job.

yeah ur right...coldplay, u2, pink floyd arent indie bands but thats where the indie sound came from... think about it delay, airy, melodic, poppy but still rockin hard...

indie band is a band that does most of there stuff by themselves, without the help of a major label... and so they released CD's etc on 'indie' labels... its just short for independent... then bands playin the sort of music that was being released on indie labels bcame a Genre... and thats where how you get indie music...

this is more alternative like nathan said... indie is like the womabats, the vivians arctic monkeys etc... do a search. cool.

indie is a short for independent, which means the band is either unsigned or signed to an independent music label (not a major one).
