It's +3 to att/str/def not +2% It's been this way since the old classic days when it even told u how much it was boosted. It doesn't only apply with no weapons. Your att/str/def will still receive a +3 invisible boost if you're wielding a weapon. When using controlled attacks, it's +1 to each. These boosts do stack with other boosts. Any informed fansite or max hit calculator would support this claim.

@xJTS1523x If you want to go a little deeper i will gladly oblige, the word mithril derived from two words in Sindarin: mith, meaning "grey", and ril meaning "glitter".

It may have had its origins in a silk coat worn by the hero in the old Hervarar Saga. as Tokien did borrow some elements from that to use in his creation of 'middle earth' the setting of his lord of the rings & hobbit books. Lets not forget that Tolkien didnt trade mark the word.

@FTWConnor Correct about the meaning of Mithril, nice use of Lotr Wikia. However, Mithril is said to be also based upon real life metals. Theories say being related to Titanium, Aluminium, Platinum or Magnesium. All these metals share a very similar trait, being of a low weight.

I knew for a fact it wasn’t lort who first used the substance, since theirs an old story which Tolkien borrowed some of his ideas from, if you look up the story of Hervarar he wore mitril chain amour himself. My point is the origins of mitril weren’t a creation of Tolkien’s but that of myth...

@xJTS1523x Btw, I do Engineering and I can I can tell you Titanium, Aluminum, Platinum and Magnesium can all be ruled out as possible types of amour worn by the hero in the Hervarar story, since all of the above a relatively new materials, and a lot fucking heavier in comparison to what mitril is meant to be, Aluminum is a good comparison but is ruled out due to relatively modern discovery in comparison to the story. The rest are modern inventions or too costly.
