@prod929292 Special forces us M4s, and I am pretty sure in recent years the 3RAR requested it in Timor or something (could be afghanistan or iraq) instead of the AUG.
im 14 nearly 15 and tossing up between studying chemistry or being a navy clearance diver special operations diver not a bomb dissarmer. i am wondering which to choose and y can someone hwlp me. i live in NSW 4 hours from sydney
@ASAairsoftAustralia Keep your options open, do chem, if you do it until yr 12 then decide a career in that field not for you, the navy will be waiting.
Just going by the Navy Divers show, they had a 100% pass mark and nobody failed..... It seems the attrition rates are virtually non-exist now due to the fact they are probably short in numbers in the Navy. Most people who get weeded out leave on their own accord or fail the dive medical/chamber etc.
The attrition rates seen is for the initial selection, which is the first episode of the show. The rest of the series is about those who have passed it, and gone on to complete the training.
Dude, If you haven't noticed, on completion of the final series is the actual full 34 week course completion... hence been awarded their rate badges. It's not like in the Army where they are awarded their Corps badges before they start the course. One particular diver who I served onboard with in the gulf on Parramatta, pretty much summed up what I said. He's the one cutting off his old rate badge on his ceremonial rig and putting his CD patch on (last episode).
The clearance divers in Australia not only dispose ordnances, but also do clandestine and maritime tactical operations. While they don't come under Special Forces command, they are a little niche and are good at what they do. The selection is rigorous, and some members go on to SAS.
I don't know how it is for the Aussies but when I was on the Cadet Exchange I met 2 British SAS officers: a captain and a Major. You could tell they were SAS because of their Uniform, and we had a friendly chat after the Friday Night Parade at 8th and I Marine Barracks Washington which was awesome. But they didn't tell us their names, nor did we ask, and they declined to take photos because they were SF (stupid friend asked even though the answer was obvious).
I thought if you were in the S.A.S you arnt allowed to say you are because you have to keep yourself like secret or something like your letter you get to tell you that your accepted would be your eyes only :S
Hello monkeyboy from indonesia. How are things in monkeyland? Have you sent any other fellow simians adrift on 'fishing boats' lately in an attempt to seek asylum in one of the most lucky countries on this planet. You can bag this great nation as much as you can but at the end of the day, as much as our Govt. gives your banana eating ass FOREIGN AID 'aka' Charity, you remain critical of our ideology. Enjoy your fucked up country and say g'day to allah for us will ya. Thats a good monkey..
all of you fuckin idiot mate.. we just using a kris to kill our enemy then hang their head along the bench of river hahahahahaa stupid fuckin ozie suck..
im a soldier in the SAS. and people who dont understand that think that their all good and start shit on me hah. ah well, i know what the result would be if they met me in real life lol.
as for u being a frogman where are you stationed? perth or sydney?
because i work with a few frogmen in the sas who are from stirling.
hey mate also just wondering, how did you find the acceptance test into the clearance diving course. because my nephew is interested in a clearance diving career and keeps asking me about the entrance but i dont have the answers haha.
Tried out their M4s when they came on Tobruk during a live fire flight deck shoot. They seem to be the only unit to use the Elcan sight as opposed to the ACOG/Trijicon used by other aussie SF
Uhh no? Infantry in the Australian army can be seen on a regular basis using Elcan optics on their F88s and F89s, just as much as, if not moreso than ACOG optics.
Sorry, my mislead. Basically referring to the M4 variant. The Elcan is a step up from the standard crap 1.5x optics on those weapons, but for a bit more bucks you could get something much better and half the size too.
navy clearnace diver also do work in TAG(E) tactical assault group east

Do chem is school anyway...
The better the grades, fitness and over-all common sence, the more likely they will pick you strait after you finish shool...
It shouldn't be hard anyway.. Jobs within the navy open quickly as not many people stay in the navy as a full career.
Good luck, hope this helps :)

Why do these MCD's have guns and stuff? Or is this an Australian thing. I'm planning on joining up for the (british) Royal Navy as a MCD
