@meggark G'day... Great to hear from you..! Sad to hear a Scout & 24 other Fliers got burnt, though.... I managed to upload 5x 15 min. clips, on tiny little Aeroplanes. Try the "Personal Aeroplanology" Playlist, at my Channel to see them, with stuff you & others have uploaded, showing Airborne movies... Whereas I've made movies out of old Photos & Mag's... The trouble with Scouts was People not realising they had Pre-WW1 Aerodynamics. That killed people !
@Jayz159ify You'll still have to pay about £4000 for your license if you wanted to fly it in the uk though. To build a new one from scratch (safely and legally) would cost a couple of grand. The sail material is pretty expensive. However in aviation terms, very affordable.
@meggark G'day... I finally got around to making & uploading the clip about the earliest Scouts, using photo's of the "Red Baron Scout" both then, & now, & old magazines, to illustrate. Sorry it took so long, one is a lazy Hillbilly ! Either backtrack to my vids, or search '1975 Skycraft Scout', if y'd like to view it.
Have fun & play safe, when ya go to fly your Scout. They were GREAT in their day, but essentially they're demanding, & easy to go wrong in. Everything else I ever flew was easier, & performed better, which is probably why the Scout was SO much more fun. But, my best friend flew a Kamikaze attack on a sheep, in his Rotax Mk-3; spun in, when the cooling-fan ate the throttle-cable, turning Finals. BE REAL CAREFUL ! Please.
I saw this vid 10 months ago before I braught my scout and thaught about the damage done by that crash landing. I have just watched this video again read the coments put 2 & 2 together, now realize why one of my scouts has damage to the undercarage and frame. the scout is now in central vic. I am now in the proses of learning to fly and then am going to restore and fly the ultralight
Thankyou thankyou. My old Scout is safely chained to the ceiling of the Inverell Transport Museum... It hasn't flown since Nov. '78, when it took me up 3 feet, or so, at Bowral. My parents sold it in '82 (I was outa town) & it never flew again. It's the last pre-production prototype, the "Red Baron" Scout, with the last (Victa)160 "Pixie Aero" engine. In 1976 they wrote ANO-95.10, around that RB Scout... Ah, memories !
@WarblesOnALot I was planning on restoring one I found rotting in a hanger at a local airfield, it was also chained to the ceiling of the hanger for a while but unfortunately one of the neighbours accidentally set the hanger on fire and it was destroyed along with 24 other aircraft.
hi guys this film was shot in hexham newcastle it is a mark two scout and the pilots name is Arthur Walker my father who still operates a mark 3 scout out of coffs i believe this scout is currently registered for sale on ebay in windsor
No idea, it was just a video I found when doing a bit of digging on the Scout after I found one lying in an old unused hanger. We have two of them at our local airfield now, one is mounted from the roof of the hanger as a display item and the other currently derigged. Might be possible to restore one of them, but would probably require a new engine. I have some photos I can send if you like.
Hey thanks, was just talking to my Dad about the one he used to have and the many design faults it had, the crashes those caused and how he fixed the problems, this brought back some memories, cheers

There's absaloutley nothing expensive about this. I would imagine this thing cost well under 700$

I don't think I've ever saw someone over-power a rudder.
