i fixed it! ok so after you do that error 16 will come up on phone.
then you should let it repeat itself untill your transfered to a tech support person from boost (dont worry NOT sprint) and they will help you step by step.
ok follow all the steps and when you done go back to writing nvitems to phone on cdma workshop. when it propmts to keep setting press ok. the phone will reset and do OTA activation, be patient then you get the green light. you should also wait for the updates and stuff because those are important and whaever you do do NOT tamper with the phone while it updates!
I am not even getting the port numbers when I plug either my epic or the incognito. I installed my epic driver and I think the incognito driver too. I say I think because once i hook it up to my pc through USB, when I go to Tools and hit "Connect to PC" I can browse my phone on my PC. Same thing for epic. I click "Connect USB" and it appears on my Explorer. However, my device manager shows neither ports so I'm completely stuck. Please help.

I followed your instructions, I have 3G working great, wifi works great also, I have sr1final on it, I have not been able to get to text nor voice to work, i guess this phone is not activated, i only got the OTA Activation once and I cancelled to make sure I had 3g, but it never came back. I did factory reset twice and same thing. Any ideas?

Got the fix for the "Error 16" message. Anyone who needs it, shoot me a message. It just worked for me, so it should definitely work. Would have pasted it here, but it was too many characters and, so I couldnt.
@Aflores140 ... I am having the same problem... Followed it step-by-step even reset the phone, retried a few times. I must be doing something wrong, idk.
After several of retries and resets and so on....I finally got passed the activation process. My internet is working but Voice and text is not. When I try to make a call, I get "Error Number 16....." Texting just fails to send. I wish I knew what I'm doing wrong, or if there are steps needed to be done that I did not do since the video failed to indicate certain steps needed to follow but I figured them out myself.
I followed the instructions completely. Got the 3G icon as well. However, I cant get passed the activation process. Without the activation, I cant use the phone at all. It tells me "Your activation could not be completed. Please try again later. If the problem persists, you may need to contact Customer Service". How can I fix this? ok so im officially screwed, i think, when i put in the 16 code, it said it was correct but my SPC was 000000, i messed around with it and i "think" i changed the SPC to 123456 because it said "successfully changed SPC" so i think i dodge a bullet there BUT when i open QXDM, options, communications, all it says is DISCONNECT

no, the best donors are the incognito, the rant and the blackberries on boost, because they get 3g. if u use the mirro for example, ur gonna be stuck on 1x. even tho the epic or evo or watever ur flashing can get 3g, the system thinks ur using ur donor so itll olny send u wat ur donor can use.

What is the process for changing the phone number on the epic after I've followed your guide? I think I have to call in to request this so I just want to be prepared if they ask me to do anything on the phone to make the change.
go to xda forums. directions are in the epic 4g forum under android development. should be a thread on the first page. this is to get the data working only. any discussions about flashing to boost will get you llama'd.

@tipimambo : You didn't save the files correctly from your donor phone. Power off your Epic, power back up your donor phone and put it in flight mode as fast as you can for good measure, then resave the 1192 and 1194 files, then try again. You can open those NV files with wordpad so you can what they look like. They should all four look similar. In your case, the 1192 and 1194 are probably empty.

to everyoneoffering to pay... there are plenty of ppl you can send $100ish to flash your epic or evo to boost. honestly the epicis the better phone anyway. better screen (i said BETTER not bigger), best keyboard out, faster processor takes hdmi video also and WILL get froyo this month prolly. if not the froyo leak is pretty stable.

last night I finally got 100% functionality from my epic on boost. you need an oldedr version of voicemail notifier which is on xda. mms is easy on both eclair and the froyo leak. nice to finally have it to where someone borrowing the phone would have no idea it is not on Sprint.
To everyone having issues with voicemail notification, download Voicemail Notifier from the market. Its no visual voicemail but you will know you received a message.
Good basic guide to get the Epic onto boost as far as the ESN/MEID etc... goes but bad as far as getting the data working. Also fails to mention a few minor steps but not too hard to figure out.
Got the data working easily enough via instructions at a forum I belong to. You have to go back into QXDM and pull your AA/HAA profiles from both phones and then manually input them in QPST as well as match up your M.IP and PPP configs.

i can't get the QXDM to recognize the Epic.. what did you do to solve this. I even tried other versions and none work. I am using Vista business 32bit
@Lynch2800 Gotta add the port first in QPST or it won't see it in QXDM or CDMA. Either that or it is because you are using Vista. I tried to do mine on 7 and nothing would load up so I had to go over to my Parents' house to use their old Pentium 4 with XP SP3 lol.
Hey, I have a Moto RZR as the donor. And i have a Samsung Fascinate with a bad ESN. They're both verizon phones. Now my problem is that the Moto wont boot up. Does it need to boot up? can i just get the ESN on the back of the phone?
The Driver that I found, that worked for me (Incognito and Juno) will only work on XP sp2 (min). Search for "SANYO USB Modem SY06 " .. The driver for the Epic 4G that was listed, worked without fail. *****THANK YOU U.G.C ********* for the tutorial. worked great. I did have to download another version of QZDM (ver 3.9.19) .. I sould mention that I was able to get a COM port with the JUNO, but did not use it as a donor.

@ToonSxO .... The first time I completed (or so i thought) the process. I did not receive the 3g signal either. I went back with the Epic and reloaded the 4 files that I got from the donor phone. (465-466-etc.. ). After doing that, I closed the CDMA program which reset the phone ... BAM!!!!! 3G !!!!! ... but no Android Market place. Could not connect to Google servers ... I then reloaded the same 4 files and closed CDMA (resetting the phone) and ... BAM .. APPS available.
@por356s : I think you have to tell CDMA to reset the phone when it prompts you to do that when you close it down. The tutorial writeup doesn't mention that so if you don't do that at first I think the NV doesn't take effect. I had the same problem and followed your steps and BAM! I got the 3G icon, but still no internet.
@ToonSxO I can get the Sprint Football, Navigation, Nascar.... But not the TV or radio. But I don't really need that. One other issue that I am having is, I do not get voice mail notification since the phone is set up through sprint. ??? I check it manually every day. Everything else works !! YAAAA

Same thing phone making calls without 3g yet, I've tried to update the profile but keep telling me connection error also I never saw the profile in 6:09 like that in mine was nothing in that line (M.IP line) and I'm sure I used 0 profile, I thing we just need the correct numbers on the user profile so we can activate the 3g on the phone..the question is who knows those numbers? or how to update the user profile 3g from the cdma workshop? thanks

I am unable to find the Port Tree in my Device Manager, I have an HP TouchSmart 300. I tried to go to the BIOS and see if it was disabled but unable to find there either
@mrbndcksaint420 : I don't c what d HP Touchsmart 300 has 2 do w/anything, & nothing in the BIOS is going to help you (you don't need to go to the BIOS anymore, hardly ever, not since about 10 years ago). To get to device manager, right click "my computer" or "computer," go to "properties," then find "device manager." I thought the ports would always show, but I just checked mine and it's not there, but it is when I have the phone hooked up. Put your EPIC in ##8778# and maybe ports will appear.

ok so after i wrote to phone and everything, rebooted my phone, i got the "welcome to sprint" but it said that my activation could not be completed, what do i do now?

ok so im officially screwed, i think, when i put in the 16 code, it said it was correct but my SPC was 000000, i messed around with it and i "think" i changed the SPC to 123456 because it said "successfully changed SPC" so i think i dodge a bullet there BUT when i open QXDM, options, communications, all it says is DISCONNECT
am i screwed? it will not show my COMPORT, but it shows up in the GPS Server Port
can someone help?

no, the best donors are the incognito, the rant and the blackberries on boost, because they get 3g. if u use the mirro for example, ur gonna be stuck on 1x. even tho the epic or evo or watever ur flashing can get 3g, the system thinks ur using ur donor so itll olny send u wat ur donor can use.

What is the process for changing the phone number on the epic after I've followed your guide? I think I have to call in to request this so I just want to be prepared if they ask me to do anything on the phone to make the change.

go to xda forums. directions are in the epic 4g forum under android development. should be a thread on the first page. this is to get the data working only. any discussions about flashing to boost will get you llama'd.

@tipimambo : You didn't save the files correctly from your donor phone. Power off your Epic, power back up your donor phone and put it in flight mode as fast as you can for good measure, then resave the 1192 and 1194 files, then try again. You can open those NV files with wordpad so you can what they look like. They should all four look similar. In your case, the 1192 and 1194 are probably empty.

to everyoneoffering to pay... there are plenty of ppl you can send $100ish to flash your epic or evo to boost. honestly the epicis the better phone anyway. better screen (i said BETTER not bigger), best keyboard out, faster processor takes hdmi video also and WILL get froyo this month prolly. if not the froyo leak is pretty stable.

last night I finally got 100% functionality from my epic on boost. you need an oldedr version of voicemail notifier which is on xda. mms is easy on both eclair and the froyo leak. nice to finally have it to where someone borrowing the phone would have no idea it is not on Sprint.

To everyone having issues with voicemail notification, download Voicemail Notifier from the market. Its no visual voicemail but you will know you received a message.

Good basic guide to get the Epic onto boost as far as the ESN/MEID etc... goes but bad as far as getting the data working. Also fails to mention a few minor steps but not too hard to figure out.
Got the data working easily enough via instructions at a forum I belong to. You have to go back into QXDM and pull your AA/HAA profiles from both phones and then manually input them in QPST as well as match up your M.IP and PPP configs.

i can't get the QXDM to recognize the Epic.. what did you do to solve this. I even tried other versions and none work. I am using Vista business 32bit

@Lynch2800 Gotta add the port first in QPST or it won't see it in QXDM or CDMA. Either that or it is because you are using Vista. I tried to do mine on 7 and nothing would load up so I had to go over to my Parents' house to use their old Pentium 4 with XP SP3 lol.

Hey, I have a Moto RZR as the donor. And i have a Samsung Fascinate with a bad ESN. They're both verizon phones. Now my problem is that the Moto wont boot up. Does it need to boot up? can i just get the ESN on the back of the phone?

The Driver that I found, that worked for me (Incognito and Juno) will only work on XP sp2 (min). Search for "SANYO USB Modem SY06 " .. The driver for the Epic 4G that was listed, worked without fail. *****THANK YOU U.G.C ********* for the tutorial. worked great. I did have to download another version of QZDM (ver 3.9.19) .. I sould mention that I was able to get a COM port with the JUNO, but did not use it as a donor.

@ToonSxO .... The first time I completed (or so i thought) the process. I did not receive the 3g signal either. I went back with the Epic and reloaded the 4 files that I got from the donor phone. (465-466-etc.. ). After doing that, I closed the CDMA program which reset the phone ... BAM!!!!! 3G !!!!! ... but no Android Market place. Could not connect to Google servers ... I then reloaded the same 4 files and closed CDMA (resetting the phone) and ... BAM .. APPS available.

@por356s : I think you have to tell CDMA to reset the phone when it prompts you to do that when you close it down. The tutorial writeup doesn't mention that so if you don't do that at first I think the NV doesn't take effect. I had the same problem and followed your steps and BAM! I got the 3G icon, but still no internet.

@ToonSxO I can get the Sprint Football, Navigation, Nascar.... But not the TV or radio. But I don't really need that. One other issue that I am having is, I do not get voice mail notification since the phone is set up through sprint. ??? I check it manually every day. Everything else works !! YAAAA

There seems to be a few steps thats needed to get the 3G to work thats not included in this guide.
With this guide and the other guide i found you will be able to get it working.!

Same thing phone making calls without 3g yet, I've tried to update the profile but keep telling me connection error also I never saw the profile in 6:09 like that in mine was nothing in that line (M.IP line) and I'm sure I used 0 profile, I thing we just need the correct numbers on the user profile so we can activate the 3g on the phone..the question is who knows those numbers? or how to update the user profile 3g from the cdma workshop? thanks

I am unable to find the Port Tree in my Device Manager, I have an HP TouchSmart 300. I tried to go to the BIOS and see if it was disabled but unable to find there either

@mrbndcksaint420 : I don't c what d HP Touchsmart 300 has 2 do w/anything, & nothing in the BIOS is going to help you (you don't need to go to the BIOS anymore, hardly ever, not since about 10 years ago). To get to device manager, right click "my computer" or "computer," go to "properties," then find "device manager." I thought the ports would always show, but I just checked mine and it's not there, but it is when I have the phone hooked up. Put your EPIC in ##8778# and maybe ports will appear.
