I saw another interview from earlier this year when Paul was on Sean's show and Sean was nothing but classy. You believe that our interventionist practices in the rest of the world are successful, but in fact they have been very damaging. You believe that Ron Paul will create an isolationist state, but isolationism involves not just military, but trade and travel, so your tale is disingenuous.

@lerandalthor: Its easy for you to say you would rather see "some sectors" have "no growth" when you live in a "sector" that has plenty of cultural growth. I think a group that seeks to restore a long lost theocratic, totalitarian empire, and uses deliberate mass murder of civilians to achieve its goals, should be considered evil. This isn't terrorism that has a reasonable solution. This is apocalyptic terrorism. And Ron Paul doesn't want to oppose this group.

@lerandalthor: Look at what interventionism did in Europe. Europe has been peaceful for the first time in thousands of years thanks to American interventionsim. The term "puppet state" is a derogatory term used to describe democracy by supporters of totalitarianism (such as George Galloway, who thinks the CIA is responsible for the protests in Syria.) But this isn't so much the issue. The issue is the sympathy libertarians give to bloodthirsty medieval theocrats like al Qaeda.

@athabascka It is simply a lie that Libertarians give sympathy to Al Qaeda. The issue is the Constitution requires Congress to declare war before taking any war-like actions against another nation in self-defense and Libertarians believe that Presidents have been usurping that power for the gain of a few and at the expense of our troops, livelihood, and national debt. In addition, it creates sympathy, not really in the US, for these other nations, but in the world community. Try again.

This idea also implies al Qaeda is a rational actor, when they are in fact an apocalyptic terrorist organization, meaning its impossible for them to achieve their goals. They believe in the restoration and expansion of a Sharia empire. A reasonable person would say this is an enemy worth fighting. Congress authorized the use of force in 2001.

@athabascka Despite your intensive intuitive skills, you still don't get the whole thing about non-interventionism does not equate isolationism. Europe's relative peace at this moment is probably fleeting and your insistence that US interventionism is responsible for it simply can't be quantified. Correlation is not causation.
A reasonable person in this modern age would laugh at the proposal of Sharia law if it weren't for our interference promoting it. And Congress did not declare war.

@lerandalthor Have you ever heard of the Marshall Plan? It created economic interdependence in Europe. Any historian knows this. And peace in Europe isn't crumbling, thats ridiculous. Al Qaeda's goal is to recreate the Islamic empire of the 12th century that stretched from southern Spain to East Timor, and it would be modeled after the Taliban government in Afghanistan. This is impossible, but they will keep killing because of it. Thats why ignoring them is not the solution.

@lerandalthor: The Marshall Plan was the greatest policy ever crafted by American policy makers. It was indeed interventionism and it was brilliant. It ended war in Europe after thousands of years of bloody conflict. We will never know the number of lives saved thanks to the Marshall Plan. @kiloggolik wow... really???? Beck is the only Fox News personality (former personality now) that has given Ron Paul a fair interview and didn't interrupt him every 2 seconds. I'm no big Glenn Beck fan, but he is the fairest and most honest News personality that I know of.
