I rode these from Mt. Prospect to the Loop 5 days a week from 1965 thru 1970. The best coaches were the St. Louis Car Co., which I believe were the first used in 1956. They had larger windows than the Pullmans and the clickity-clack rail joint noises were louder in the coaches. The best place to ride was between the compartments or at the very front window inbound in the (cough, cough) smoking car.
This was at the Illinois Railway Museum at Union, Illinois outside Chicago. Those trolley poles have been there for a long time, and from what I think, they're charged at about 600 volts. They run a lot of streetcars the museum.

I actually don't think it sounds like the NJT horns these are the actual horns they use on the NJT Arrow III cars.
