@taohealin Street Fighter moving to 3D didn't affect gameplay, unless you're counting the EX series but those are side games; same with Raccoon City. Call of Duty is the same game released every year with one or two features added. The fact is that this is not a DMC game, but a generic hack and slash. Im just curious guys, Ive been a DMC fan since the first one came out. Why is every former fan hating this prequel. I find its mainly for his appearence, which i think is cool btw cause it shows him at his adolescent days. What else do you not like about it??
I really tried to be optimistic... but the gameplay actually does look choppy (there are moments of speed that try to fool you into thinking it's fluid) and there's just too much Nero in Dante. This isn't DMC it's just an exercise in mediocre game development.
second time watching this. somehow it just looks so wrong. it feels so bland - the fighting style just lacks that over the top flair and badassery that's so characteristic of DMC (in my opinion). I'm willing to give this game a try to be fair...but...dammit. every video i've seen of this game just makes me think that something is just lacking in them.

The gameplay does look like dmc, however a few things that bother me. Examples like the lack of a stylish meter and the music just doesn't seem to fit the mood of what's going on. It honestly looks like a good game, the only problem is that it has the dmc title, which is making most fans rage (though as one I can totally see why).

"In Ninja Theory’s game Dante is a young man coming to terms with his demon and angel abilities. He was never a rebellious teen, haven't you played DMC3?(which was a prequel) They could have made a new IP but instead they butcher DMC.

You can't create a generic hack and slash game and slap a DMC title on it.

What YOU need to note is that the most important aspect of ANY game's not the story or enviroment, not it's graphics, nor the music, but the gameplay itself. When they come together, sure it's a beautiful thing but that's not something NT has a track for. Heavenly Sword and Enslaved were both riddled with glitches.

I think what happened was that fans misunderstood the developers.. what the developers meant by origin story was (imo) the origin of dante in a parallel universe, ie. reboot from their take on the dmc mythology. therefore, I *think* that they never planned to make this one a prequel to the classic series. better like this if you ask me. at least, the story of one series does not fuck up that of the other by inconsistencies
@TotesMagotes That guy mixed up the order, NT said it was an origin story first (2010) then changed and said a reboot in an alternate universe (2011). He's right about them wanting to change and save themselves though, in early interviews Tameem said he "didn't care" about fan backlash before changing Dante's look from being a beaten up smoker to what he looks like now. Tameem's latest interview has this as a separate story, so that's what it is.
This DMC is far off from the original DMC capcom made has nothing to do with regular dante hes like nero just another person with devil powers but with the same name thats how i look at it. Regular DMC isnt going to start back up for awhile.

@taohealin Street Fighter moving to 3D didn't affect gameplay, unless you're counting the EX series but those are side games; same with Raccoon City. Call of Duty is the same game released every year with one or two features added. The fact is that this is not a DMC game, but a generic hack and slash. I really tried to be optimistic... but the gameplay actually does look choppy (there are moments of speed that try to fool you into thinking it's fluid) and there's just too much Nero in Dante. This isn't DMC it's just an exercise in mediocre game development.

second time watching this. somehow it just looks so wrong. it feels so bland - the fighting style just lacks that over the top flair and badassery that's so characteristic of DMC (in my opinion). I'm willing to give this game a try to be fair...but...dammit. every video i've seen of this game just makes me think that something is just lacking in them.

If they didn't think Ninja Theory would make a good game, it could have easily gone to a different studio, the likes of the bayonetta team. The gameplay does look like dmc, however a few things that bother me. Examples like the lack of a stylish meter and the music just doesn't seem to fit the mood of what's going on. It honestly looks like a good game, the only problem is that it has the dmc title, which is making most fans rage (though as one I can totally see why).

"In Ninja Theory’s game Dante is a young man coming to terms with his demon and angel abilities. This is a key mechanic in DmC since Dante can transform the Rebellion into a holy scythe or a devilish axe." You can't halve the FPS, the amount of enemies on the screen (there's 4 by the way), remove jump cancelling and other advanced techniques, dial down the combos a ridiculous amount, and call it a DMC game. You can't create a generic hack and slash game and slap a DMC title on it.

What YOU need to note is that the most important aspect of ANY game's not the story or enviroment, not it's graphics, nor the music, but the gameplay itself. When they come together, sure it's a beautiful thing but that's not something NT has a track for. Heavenly Sword and Enslaved were both riddled with glitches.

I think what happened was that fans misunderstood the developers.. what the developers meant by origin story was (imo) the origin of dante in a parallel universe, ie. reboot from their take on the dmc mythology. therefore, I *think* that they never planned to make this one a prequel to the classic series. better like this if you ask me. at least, the story of one series does not fuck up that of the other by inconsistencies

@TotesMagotes That guy mixed up the order, NT said it was an origin story first (2010) then changed and said a reboot in an alternate universe (2011). He's right about them wanting to change and save themselves though, in early interviews Tameem said he "didn't care" about fan backlash before changing Dante's look from being a beaten up smoker to what he looks like now. Tameem's latest interview has this as a separate story, so that's what it is.

This DMC is far off from the original DMC capcom made has nothing to do with regular dante hes like nero just another person with devil powers but with the same name thats how i look at it. Regular DMC isnt going to start back up for awhile.
