I believe that there should be a place that modern Palestinians can call a homeland, But if you research the history of the region in terms of Arab/Israeli relations, you will find two things. Firstly, better than 90% of the people living in the land of Palestine before 1948 did not identify themselves as Palestinians in that most of them had migrated to that region between the wars. Also the Arabs were not as welcoming to Jews as you suggest.
