  • I'm sorry, but this was just fucking hilarious. Nobody did it like these guys. Finest entertainers to come from GB since the beatles. Jump the channel "What's the farthest you've jumped?" "11'6", 12' unoffically". Classic, classic, classic.

  • unsa man ni ui...

  • Chapman looks a lot like Mel Oxley.

  • Dear sir I wish to make a complaint about to many people making unsupported complaints, it ruins it for the regular viewer....

  • As an American, sorry. For, you know, our foreign policy . . . and the excessive jingoism . . . aaaaand . . . um . . . Bill O'Reilly. Yep. :/

  • @4104jake you have a foreign policy? Where do you keep him, our British one is in the fridge (just to keep him cool, doesn't like the hot countries you know. The flies set of his his eeby jeebies). Oh I forgot, say hello to Bill................

  • By the time the Pythons made this jest, it was just satire but today such things are permanently shown on television and of course on the internet, too! Totally ungifted, normal and boring people do ordinary and vulgar things or worse try to sing and getting money paid for it; but unlike the misfortunate wretch in Monty Python they don’t die while doing it and so the worse thing which usually happens to them is that no one knows them in a half years while at the moment everyone does.

  • Diana Nyad = The new Ron Obvious

  • As a Russian, I'm appoled there's only one MP sketch on Russia! We are a great nation, we deserve MORE))))))))

  • As a Spaniard I am outraged (because we now are outraged too) because of the suggestion that llamas supposedly live in the Amazon river (which isn't in Spain) and have beaks. Thats ridiculous, llamas have a trunk, and they live in the Guadalquivir and Ebro rivers.

  • @MsPandaRosa ah how true u r, even if trying ended up killing him

  • Not their best work

  • Terry Jones would make a terrific Harry Potter

  • As an Australian, I am outraged that my mother didn't name me Bruce!

  • Is it just me, or at the beginning, does Graham Chapman look like a younger version of Mr Humphries from Are You Being Served?

  • As an italian man, I am outraged for some reasons I forgot. That means nothing , but it sounds really italian. Uhm. Maybe.

  • @UrielFanelli That sounds very Spanish too, no? bah xD

  • Some say that nothing is impossible, But jumping the Channel does come rather close, as do a few of the other feats,

  • That opening bit with Graham Chapman & Terry Jones is insane, where does comedy go after that? Was this really 40 years ago? Like the Marx Bros., totally timeless.

  • 5:58 - I DEMAND a screencap of this to use as a demotivational poster.

  • Palin and Cleese are the greatest team.

  • lmaoo *runs*... *jumps* ..... *falls* = FAIL.

  • @tallyy94

Ah. but you can't say he didn't try.

  • vercotti is just awesome!!!!

  • This is a model for all,a man whit real ambition and self-confidence.

  • Thanks for uploading this! I recorded this on an audiocassette at least 35 years ago, and the episode as a whole is still one of my favourites. I'm off to look for the woman being serenaded by her lover in her bedroom as her husband watches ("It's just a trick of the light, dear"), and the Confuse A Cat service skit.

  • I love how he qualifies it by saying he's the first person to eat an entire ANGLICAN cathedral. As if someone had once eaten a Catholic cathedral or maybe a mosque or something.

  • I'm fully Italian and I find Luigi Vercotti hilarious (but very London-ish...)

  • I don't think anyone will ever jump the channel.......OR eat an entire cathedral...

  • @philosophyweb

    Pessimist..........

  • As an Italian-American, I always get a kick at how the Pythons stereotype Italians as crooks...Luigi Fercotti was also with his brother when they tried to shake down Graham Chapman and the British army in another sketch

  • @kinksboss1 Hey man, nice to see that you take the cultural "offensive" stereotype as an homage. Few people have the confidence and the sense of humour to be able to laugh at themselves. Or at least at how the world perceives them.

Hell, I'm Brazilian and I'd love to see Western culture visit us more often. I don't mind being portrayed as the Football-loving, tits-showing, Carnaval ridden jungle people. I just wish we were made fun of more often.

    Arriverderci amici!

  • @Chadner

thanks, that means we know that Italians and Brazilians are smart and know how to fun...I would love to come down there and check out some of those Brazilian tits! Got enough here in California though!

  • @Chadner Yes. I'm a German-American and have always liked Benny Hills skits of the Germans.

  • @Chadner One cant acuse Monty Python was discrination. They made fun of everything and everyone. It is eqaulity in its purest form parody and criticism.

  • @Chadner Well, technically speaking (and culturally speaking), Brazil is part of the Western world/civilization, much like the rest of the Americas by definition. So I'm pretty sure you'll get more of this comedy at some point. :-P

  • @Chadner

Ooh yah, an' ah'm froom Meen-ah-soo-tah, don'tcha know! Care fer some turtle wax and'ah Hormel dinnah, you betcha?

  • @Chadner start by making fun of yourself , that's the trick , the English figured that out hundreds of years ago ! good luck !

  • @kinksboss1

I admire that you are capable of being capable of laughing at your own culture. I wish we Maltese we just like that as many still find stereotypes of Maltese people offensive, especially those which are politically obsessed. That you are capable at laughing at yourself means that you are capable of accepting criticism.

  • @kinksboss1 We Danes would get a great kick out of thise monty sketches sterotyping us, if it wasn't for the rolling on the floor laughing ourselfs to death.

  • @kinksboss1

Dear sir, I myself am an Italian, and I am deeply offended at the way this programme depicts Italians as criminals and obnoxious womanizers, and if you take the time to escape your bigoted perspectives, you will find that we are no different than any other peoples of Europe! This is in no way a cheap parody of Monty Python's complaint letters, and is not intended to be a magnet for cheap laughs and thumbs up.

Yours truly, Fellatio Al Dente Provolone.

  • @Kemonokami Grow up and learn to take a joke.

  • @Arkantos117

    What did I do?

  • @Kemonokami I'm not sure, I was drunk.

  • @kinksboss1 At least its better than the italian stereotype in hetalia

  • Okay did just see a gay man arguing with a viking?

  • When I first watched this, I expected a Gilliam animation showing Obvious jumping the channel. But I thought it was hilarious how they just let Terry just jump into the cold ocean

  • mmmm thats not what I'VE heard! love it

  • When I first saw the title, I thought they would be jumped a TV Channel. XD

  • English men of all nations!

  • The 19 people who disliked this video should jump off a cliff, then set the world record for most time underground.

  • Evan, you should really watch this, I think you'll think its funny!

  • "Well Hello Sailor."

  • H ahhahaha RON...we help RON do things he want sto do..we understand RON../.

epic parody for pop music managers

  • I cracked up so much when Luigi said Ron would be the first man to eat an Anglican Cathedral. Lol!

  • 1:30 lol! one second wonder

  • I love traffic lights!

  • Miles? Miles?

IT would be much funnier with kilometers.

  • I bet Graham was enjoying that magazine XD

  • so glad to see this again, some bastard (albeit one with good taste) nicked my dvd. the customs guy checking his passport before his attempt always has me in fits! thanks for this!

"all he has to do is get out of the earths stratosphere...'

  • .....Why do I have a crush on Luigi Vercotti?

  • @Sigele1

Maybe because he's portrayed by Mr. Palin? ;))

  • "hostile..."

  • Graham looking at muscle magazines and acting flaming sure takes on a new meaning doesn't it? ;)

  • I hope he gets to go to Calais some day - good luck Ron!

  • rofl poor ron

  • I love cheese

  • Stop that! Stop that right now! This sketch I now deem is in part or in whole entirely to silly! Now no one loves a good laugh more than I do except perhaps my wife, and her friends, and cpt. Johnson. Well it seems everyone likes a good laugh more than me. But I won't have it! I want a nice clean outdoor sketch!

  • ....but why dorset?

  • As an Englishman I am outraged at the suggestion that we never see the Sun. I can categorically assure you that the Sun did make a brief appearance one afternoon last August....about 2.15pm. It lasted for at least 10 minutes!

  • No that was just a very bright lamp... im sorry...

  • @76juno I agree, and i can also comment that this resulted in terrible flash burns for most of the people of the uk, apart from scotland, where most people now live underground.

  • You forgot to include some ridiculous signature, like...

    Yours Etc.,

    Charles Arthur Strom, Mrs.

    *lol*

  • @76juno that much? woah, come to scotland, we have none!

  • @76juno HAHHAHA OMG DEAL WITH IT called "jokes" hahah and then you have to brag/lie about it to, what do you search for acception? If that it's true then you dosen't even have to care Big lol @ you dude!!

  • @76juno I remember that! all the children ran and hid

  • @76juno pmsl

  • @76juno aye, but we dont need the sun we are descened from toughened anglo-saxon warriors! grrrr

  • @76juno I am also tired of people saying that it rains all day, every day in Scotland. It does not rain all year long, only 364 days out of 365 (or 365 days out of 366 if it is a leap year). There is always one day of the year where the Scots turn their electric fires down by one degree because it has stopped raining, and the sun is able to make a 1% change in the temperature!

  • @76juno And as I Scotsman, I can tell you we Scots once saw a big, bright yellow ball in the sky once...back in 1867!

  • @gbindahouse94

And I, as a Minnesotan, proudly declare that it is "mid-night" outside, and the glowing day-ball has been scared away by the shiny night-time toe-nail clipping.

  • @76juno As another Englishman I am outraged that you tell such lies, the sun has never shone that long in this country!

  • @76juno Dear Sir, I wish to complain, in the strongest possible manor about the previous comments featured in this skit.

I have lived in England for 33 years and have only seen the sun twice, and one of those times was a picture...

    yours, Edward Scringingbottom, MRS

  • I am SOOO-O-O tempted to try to jump the channel when I go to England, but as a Student Ambassador, I'd probably get into trouble... Especially if I was holding a bag of bricks. :D

  • have fun, i went there with the Student Ambassador program back in 06.

  • @umahuma4 How cool! Thank you. :)

  • I think it's actually allowed, but eating Chichester Cathedral...apparently it's a listed building and so not available for eating. Sorry!

  • Are you sure there isn't a spade?

  • @dfrutled

Yes. We had a nice couple of hours in August.

  • Ya know..the comments on this video seem extremely random when you've never seen the sketch before. XDD

  • Is there ever a sunny day in England?

  • yeah

  • Lol! No :P Yeah offcourse there is! Were not some troll people who live in a time of total darkness, Its just not as sunny as somewhere like USA. Saying that I dont remember the last time I saw sun, which may actually deem your theory of no sun correct ironically...

  • Haha. I wasn't being condescending, I really never been to England but from what I heard and seen on tv it seems like there is never a sunny day. I was asking for information only. I love English people.

  • maybe the idea of a troll people who live in a time of total darkness, comes from us vikings and we were mistaken as britons, while pillaging your women and raping your cattle?

  • @Sutskoen I can see why our women were seen as such a valuable commodity. They are terribly strong and excellent for ploughing fields. Whereas our cattle are wonderfully receptive and delightful company.

  • "Sh it's satire

No it isn't, this is zany madcap humour.

    Oo.."

    LOL!

  • @8DX HI:) THAT'S right .. he he

    jd

  • this sketch is so funny :D

  • why does the reporter keep following these stories?! HAHAHAHAHA

  • actually, this sketch was based on a true story.

  • lol

  • "English men of all nations" :D All the sketch - great. :)

  • Funny that each goal gets grander. First he tries to jump the English Channel, then he tries to eat a cathedral, then he attempts to tunnel to Java, and then tries to run to Mercury.

  • Don't forget splitting a railway carriage with his nose. XD

  • how articulate YOU are impressive

  • Well don't judge me based on one comment; I posted that last message after reading something so ridiculous, it just annoyed me..I'm sure this happens to all of us.

  • lol complaining about something ridiculous on a monty python video

  • @agentdreyer Hiya

    Yesssss

We all feel like that sometime....

  • because british didnt use the metric system you fool.

  • this was made before the switch

  • this was made before they switched over.

  • The only EU country which doesn't use the metric system. It's all about tradition.

  • actually, we use both - it's irritatingly confusing

  • hello sailor. haha

  • Chadner do you have the 16-Ton Megaset?

  • Isn't that gravestone the same prop used for the Funniest Joke in the World sketch?

  • lol 'english-men of all nations'

    i love the subtle jokes

  • and they completely miss it

  • that guy who is jumping over the channel looks like sam kelly, the guy in allo allo!

  • 0:10 Hahahahaha

  • What a depressing experience this had to be for Terry Jones.

  • lol 'englishmen of all nations'

  • Yeah, that was great.

  • Ooh well, hello, sailor!

  • 1:04

is just me or is that guy in the yellow speedo having a boner?

  • LMFAO, i've seen this so many times and i've never noticed that before! xD

  • Well, he certainly has "something". You know, he likes stuffing his speedo, aye aye "stuffing" that speedo, likes to be seen, aye?, likes to "show off" wink wink

hint, hint nudge nudge say no more say no more

  • Now, look here, sir, what are you implying?! LOL Awesome line, man...

  • It twitches :O

  • oh my god! it did! woah

  • 4:28 hurts to watch.

  • "English men of all nations" Lol.

  • Its funny how in certain sketches they int at the fact that Graham Chapman is gay.

  • "hint"?!

  • You're right. In one sketch from "At last the 1948 show", Graham (after having been offered several items and even women from his doctor) shouts "I'm not interested in girls!". ^_^

  • lol im french and liked the "fin de cross" sign and everybody in sailor suits.

  • who plays Ron? i cant tell

  • The one that plays the homicidal barber. ;o

  • its Terry Jones. he's always been a Python.

  • yah thats who i thot it was

  • Luigi Vercotti might be one of Michael Palin's best characters. He is just awesome.

  • I've been looking for this sketch for aages.

"I thought you were, uh... I like the police, alot!"

    hahahahahaha

  • hehe funny how they can present france for half a sec with a short little tune and it feels so france lol

  • Lol, July the 22nd is my b-day. XD

  • i think it would of been funnier if they used there dodgy effects and he made it to france

  • 1:13

he sounds like Andy from Little Britain!

  • More like Andy sounds like him - given that this is circa 1969.

  • !!! What?!?!

  • *sighs* I'm normally an Eric girl but Mike is gorgeous in this sketch! lol

    Very funny, Terry's very cute!

    X

  • god, jumping the english channel, eating the chichester(i think thats how its spelled) cathedral, tunneling to java, splitting a railway cairrage with his nose, and jumping to mercury, who came up with this stuff?

  • A GENIUS!

    :D

  • AKA the pythons

  • the weird thing is Graham Chapman was actually gay....

  • an in-joke by the Pythons mayhap?

  • I know lol but its good to know that he was not afraid to be open and funny about it

  • Haha "Luigi Vercotti"
