Εγώ γιατί πιστεύω ότι η Kλεοπάτρα δεν ήταν καλή λive? Η φωνή της θαμπή και πολύ μπάσα ώρες-ώρες, καθώς και οριακά κρατιώταν εντός τόνου σε κάποιες στιγμές. Το τραγούδι να θυμίσουμε ότι είχε ξενίσει όταν επελέγει και τα σχόλια στον ελληνικό τύπο δεν ήταν καθόλου θετικά όταν πρωτοακούστηκε, ειδικά αφού ερχόταν μετά από μία μεγάλη εμπορική επιτυχία εντελώς διαφορετικούς ύφους, όπως ήταν η Άνοιξη.

 Το τραγούδι αυτό ήταν υπέροχο και μπορεί να έπαιρνε καλύτερη θέση αν η Ελλάδα τότε ήταν καλύτερα δικτυωμένη στα ευρωπαϊκά λόμπυ . Πχ Το τραγούδι της Ιταλίας που μας πέρασε και βγήκε 4ο δεν ήταν πολύ καλύτερο από το δικό μας αλλά πήρε την 4η θέση επειδή ήταν απλά ΙΤΑΛΙΚΟ και επειδή το τραγουδούσε μια πρώην ντίβα της δεκαετίας του '70. Πάντως η πέμπτη θέση που πήρε τότε η Ελλάδα ήταν η καλύτερη που είχε πάρει μέχρι τότε και χρειάστηκε να περάσουν χρόνια για να έρθει η δε'υτερη θέση των Αντίκ....

actually, i believe she didn't get a better place because this song is too involved with politics...this jewel she wears is macedonian and people in FYROM started claiming the name "macedonia" this year and the song's lyrics say about people getting all together and treating each other with love, respect and tolerance - not a seller, not even at this years...:(

No entry performed in Greek ever came higher than 5th place, and even that only happened four times (Greece 1977, Cyprus 1982, this time and Cyprus 1997). So it had nothing to do with politics. Greece simply had the luck of having a very strong entry in a very weak year, or they wouldn't even had reached the top 5 that year, and that's the sad truth.

Yes, Turkey and Portugal were often underrated back in the day. Austria and Finland are two other countries, which never have had much luck (even though they both have won once). And except for two victories back in the 50s, the Dutch language hasn't been that popular either. The Netherlands have only been in the top 5 three times since their last victory in 1975, and the Dutch half of Belgium hasn't been in the top 10 since 1977.

The 1964 was lost, because it was held in Denmark, as Denmark had won in 1963. But unfortunately, Danish TV got a president, that hated the ESC and other "light entertainment". He therefor stopped Denmark from participating in the contest for several years AND let someone "mislay" the recordings of the 1964 contest. It's probably destroyed or recorded over with something else, but maybe someone will miracously rediscover it some day.

I'm not Italian, but Swedish. Italy had a lot of good entries though, "Insieme 1992" and "Fiumi di parole" being two of them. Too bad they're not in the contest anymore.

I checked Wikipedia, and it doesn't confirm the story about the TV president, but says the 1964 contest recordings probably were lost in a fire. We might never know how it disappeared then. But it's a fact, that Denmark didn't participate in the contest for twelve years, which must be because the TV president didn't like the ESC.

I believe this is a great song. The composer is the same person who wrote the lyrics and it is the guitarist you can see on 2:20. He was Χρίστος Λαγός (Christos Lagos). Killed very young. The singer might or might not be good. Let's just appreciate this song, full of hope.

I couldn't agree more with what's been said here. This is the best Greek entry ever. Fortunately, this song is performed in Greek. The EBU should bring the language rule back. Granted, it may be easier to win with a song in English, but could you imagine this song in English? The language simply wouldn't fit the music any more, would it?
