  • Marvellous melody sung by a sensitive woman whose charm touch us right in the heart...! The theme choosen is always actual and moving...!

  • Hi this is Slovenia calling! Here are my results 6 points goes to France. 5 place.

  • I'm spanish, but I think Isabelle mada a better performance... what a nice song (although I don't understand it at all..)

  • What a haunting song, wonderfully understated performance - but you need to know the lyrics to appreciate the full story of this song. It's actually a very tragic and profound song, speaking of the truly awful subject of rape. This must be the only song in the contest to speak of this issue, and as such it demands attention. Truly a stand-out, both as far as music and lyrics, go, I think (the lyrics were co-written by Guy Bonnet, btw).

  • But its not a given that it was rape. The point of the song IMO was the failure of the girl to return & the dangers that lay in - a sort of Little Red Ridinghood gone wrong. The intriguing thing is that Isabelle's singing gives the song a complete sense of pleasantness. I love listening to it.

  • Sorry, but it was really the purpose of the authors to tell the story of a rape !

The music is pleasant precicely to echoe the drama and make it more awful.

Believe me, there is no question when you listen to the performance of isabelle Aubret today.

And, at the time, Guy Bonnet had to explain on french tv what he meant...many people thought like you...

  • Having listened to the song more & more I get the sense of what you say. & now again looking at the performance I can see how Isabelle coveyed the tragedy. I think I found it hard to believe a song written for ESC could have such a dark theme. I bow to your greater insights. Isabelle did a terrific job as she had done also in 1963.

  • 1962

  • By the way, I dont know whether it interests you but this years French song in ESC reminds me so much of Isabelle & especially her performance of Un Premier Amour. I think it's great - the best from France for years. I hope it does really well. Bon chance a La France!

  • In complete contrast the BBC would never had allow (or even allow now) a song with such meaning. the BBC are the real reason the UK songs can suck

  • I think the same would hold for RTE. I dont necessarily its a case of the BBC or RTE being to blame (if thats the way to describe it). If this song had been written in English it would have found difficulties in or from mainstream culture. I suggest it points to a stark difference between the Anglo & Franco phone worlds.

  • Very interesting observations from all of you, and I concur. Gerald77100 put into words what I feel, that the pleasant music only makes the tragic lyrics even more profound and impacting. It's a beautiful but also smart song. It makes you think. Isabelle really should have won again with this.

  • The melody is good, but the lyrics are awfull!

  • Not awful, just very disturbing and sad.

  • Her winning song in 1962 is way better than that!
