  • yeah, you could get them all , the ghosts that is, to follow you into the central box, if you 'hang out' long enough near by right at the entrance of the central box, and get them all chasing you in a row, then have them chase right behind you into the box, they all get stuck then you could take your time eating all the pellets and vitamins!. I believe that was the first version of ancient Atari in the early-mid 80s.

  • I've done that a few times. Didn't know how I did it, but it sure makes the game fairly easy.

  • I remember that happening with the sghosts sometimes but never was sure why it happened.

and yeah that was on an atari 2600 and not stella

  • Duh, it's from 1977.

  • actaully, alot of games on the atari had much better graphics. This version of Pac-Man was a proto-type that was released in order to make the release date

  • your mom has a flat chest!

    THATS CUZ SHES 12, IDIOT!

  • sure, it was created when your parents were as old as you now, guess about 15. #k.

  • Just to make mention for all seeing this on a totally unrelated note..if you run freeware video screen capture programs like CamStudio (Among others), you won't need to point your video camera at your PC monitor anytime you want to record video content.

(Assuming this was not done under the Stella Atari 2600 emulator on PC). Just mentioning in passing, that's all. Btw, as I'm sure most know, Pac Man was the other of the 2 carts that wound up in that New Mexico landfill along with copies of E.T.

  • I think this video was filmed from a TV screen playing a real Atari 2600, and not using the Stella Emulator on the PC.

In fact, the flickering ghosts make it nigh unplayable on the Emulator, so I think no one would play 2600 Pac-Man on an Emulator. (not to mention a lot of other systems can be emulated as well, having better Pac-Man versions)

However, of course using a DVD recorder would be the best choice for getting that footage, but you first need to have a DVD recorder ;)

  • The atari version sucked.

  • Wow, you got -2 for that? Geez. It really did suck, guys. +1.

  • My dad and I used to do that all the time to the ghosts.

  • even tho this is the past the origanal pacman arcade game had better graphics Atari u kuldve done better

  • i cant get my pacman to do that on my 2600 my pac man doesnt move as fast as yours are you using an emulator

  • You have to select variation 2(press select a couple times).Pacman and the ghosts will be at fast speed when you start. Then you can do the pattern in the video.

  • wow thanks it did it now only took like 25 years to find an easter egg

  • Once, back in those days, I was so desperate to run away from the ghosts that I went into the lower hole or tunnel and Pacman went through all the maze like if there were no blocking lines from the top to the bottom of the screen, my lil kid explanation was that I pulled the stick so hard haha

  • I remember that happening to me too once. My sister & I laughted so hard over that one. It came so funny to us back than.

  • Hey, thanx for your posting, through all these years I thought I was only dreaming or something about this, nobody was there to watch, my sister never cared about videogames so when I told my cousins and friends they had this look at their faces like......hmmmmm yeah rite......so I guess now that was a bug from the game or something.....thx

  • YW. And thanks for posting your experience with that glitch.

In fact, I first came to this page hoping it was THAT glitch!!! LOL I hope someone has it on tape or I'm going to have to get back into Pac Man and do a lot of playing. That had to be sometime between 1983 & 1985 (I was aged 6-8)when it happened to me, but I remember it clearly! LOL It went straight through the middle box where the ghosts appear. You now have me to back you on this.

  • Every single thing that you say matches my story....pacman thru da box....same years same age....guess what,I came here for da same reasons......back in the days an event like that in a videogame was like a shocking experience.....there were not as much magazines and videogame shows, websites telling you all about a videogame review as we have nowadays.....once again thanx for this comment and yeah I think we would really like to see that on vid (excuse my English as it is not my first language)

  • check out my vids.. I was able to get that one to work in the stella atari 2600 emulator.

  • thanx for posting your vid :) the only difference I remember is that I pulled the controller stick all the way down getting in the lower hole.....I didn´t make a stop at the top but anyway, u went through the maze just like it happened in the 80´s to me, thanx.

  • A trick I did back in the days is to

have pacman dying while he was moving through the hole. Just move pacman into the hole when a ghost just touches him and when he comes out the other end should see (I think the last 2 frames) of pacman's death when he comes out the other end of the hole.

  • I had this when it first came out, and I found that clich. I thought I was sooo smart :-)

  • I just tried that on my PC's Stella 2600 emulator and it worked!

  • The ghosts pop up from the bottom of the screen, odd!
