@nvisible123 Before he kills himself, he gets a Mushroom (from the mid-point), then he grabs the Fire Flower, which stores the mushroom. Then he kills himself and starts at the mid-point. This makes him small again.

Soon after the football guy, there's a bunch of piranha plants that won't allow big Mario to go through without losing his status and the item at the top. So he goes in small to not lose it.

Finally, he needs the mushroom to break another block. He needs to be small until then.

Dainegai was playing these levels. TAS (Tool-Assisted Superplay/Speedrun) just means he played the game with slowdown/frame by frame movement and used savestates to achieve an optimised playthrough. It is in no way to demonstrate skill, but instead to provide entertainment of the game being pushed to its limits.
